Laparoscopic Hysterectomy on May 28th

Waited 6 months for the beloved date. Had an ablation last summer - it didn't work... The excessive bleeding due to many big fibroids every month was too much!
Anyhow - my doctor is the specialist in our area in laparoscopic surgery and it was annoying to wait so long but I'm glad I did.
I never expected to be home 22 hours after surgery though! That was a nice surprise!
Check in to hospital at 9:30 a.m. - was brought in for surgery around 11:45. Other than the IV - everything else pre-op was done after I was sleeping... Ahh joy! 2 hours later woke up - uterus free! Cervix and ovaries remained... Pain wasn't too bad. Sore throat - yuk - still have one! Could hardly swallow that night... I was on just Tylenol before leaving the hospital the next morning though. I can't make any stupid moves like bending or stuff like that - but I don't feel worse than I did with my bad monthly cramps.
Gas pain. Constipated, then diarrhea - now constipated again... Am working on that with prunes... Not new to me as I have IBS - been fighting that battle for years.
Not happy to be on antibiotics as that doesn't help my tummy - but it's only for a week...
Trying to take it easy- actually am going to head back to bed soon...
Thanks for listening!

It's nice to meet all of you on the other side! I had a TAH on the 22nd and came home from the castle on the 24th. It's the 31st and I'm still not really up and around but sure want to be. I had to go to the Dr's on the 29th and get my staples out and that pretty much put me down for that day and the full next day. For the BM issue I take Metamucil each morning as well as my wonderful bowl of bran flakes and cup of coffee. It's been working for me since the 2nd day home from the hospital. Definitely a slow process of healing...2 steps forward 1 step back but at least I am seing an improvement - even if it is slower than I'd like.

Glad to hear that SOOO many of you are doing well!!! For those that are having a tough time - Im sure all will start getting better soon! Just rememember - "this too shall pass" and we'll all be back to our good old selves shortly!

Saw my urogyn yesterday for the leaking, he wants me to do Kegels (a lot!) for 3 months and go see him again. Things look healed, he did a very gentle internal, not as bad as I would have thought. He said he wants to see how things go when the sling settles in place after 3 months. So Kegeling I am. Still feeling tired, but not napping but once a day...and the hot flashes continue!

Hello...it is now May 31st, 10 days (May 21st) since my TAH BSO and Appendectomy. I keep having to tell myself that I am not in as good of shape as I feel. My doctor was and is wonderful- my incision looks as if it will heal very well. All stiches are internal and the cut is just a very thin line that is meticulously straight. I am still waiting on the "hormonal" changes to take place....my husband is also on pins and needles waiting for the day I "rip his head off" with a mood swing. I return to the doctor next Tuesday, for the hormone discussion. Any suggestions for me? I just turned 40 in April and lead a very active life....as a matter of fact, I am most missing my 2-3 hour visits to the gym.
Thanks for all of the sharing you have all done....makes this a not so lonely experience!!!!

Keep up the good work girls. I'm counting on you for the duration! A big shout out to everybody just because we are us. Yahoo! Feeling a little woozy this morning: went to friends last night (sat on rear end) celebrating 56th B-Day ( did someone say Bar-B-Que?). Am noting ab's are a bit sore (nothing through the wall, maybe just sitting up for so long?) or the endometriosis is functioning. Dr visit on the 5th. No news from pathology is good news. Stay tuned. I am still having bowel/constipation problems. Had my eldest daughter stop by Eckerd and get me some glycerin suppositories. Ah............relief!! Moved that puppy right along down the toilet! Thank Goodness! I have been miserable. The stool softener/fiber/etc was not working good enough for me. The suppository did the trick!!! Only cost $3.00 for 25 of them too!

May 25 th TAH/BSO here. Checking to see if most everyone has some incision pain - not from infection just pulling and such. Especially the first few seconds when standing. I'm using a heating pad (cold seemed to make it worse). Major swelly-belly and fwerer nap attacks in the last two days. Boy am I bruised.

Planning my first mini- trip outside the house tomorrow to see how things go. Such excitement.

My doc told me that may hormonal issues may be minimal because of soy intake. Not a mammal eater and lots of soy milk and protein for the last 10 years. When do most people have hormonal issues?
