Got a massage today....ahhhhhh it felt good and my massage therapist commented on how much trimmer I looked and felt!
Was feeling a bit more crampy but then figured I did 6 loads of laundry two loads of dishes yesterday, plus walked quite a bit....so today I'll do less laundry!

Hello All!
I am a happy sister today! I just got back from my two week check up. I have a bit of pus coming from the edge of my incision, but doc said I am taking care of it great, and that the bacitricin ointment is good for it, just keep it dry. Said I have lost 8 pounds! And I look great!! Said I have done really well, considering how big my uterus was and the loss of blood, etc. I got my surgical report, the pathology report and pics of my 'child'. LOL It was so ugly! It did not even resemble a uterus, it looked like a big skull. So ugly. It has this big artery going through it, which fed all the fibroids, doc said. WOW. ANYway, my four week check up is the one where I have the pelvic done. He said I can DRIVE!! and that I am still NOT to lift anything heavy for six more weeks, due to the bladder/urethra sling. I am so happy! He said the burning and pulling is normal at the incision site, because of the layers of tissue that was cut. He said it will taper off with time.

Hi Ladies! I went to my 1st post op today. Had ovaries, tubes, uterus removed lapryscopically on 5/22, which was 2 weeks ago today. My doctor didn't due much of an exam today. He just looked at my incisions and asked me a few questions. He released me to go back to work on Monday, 6/11/07. I am now allowed to drive and take a bath. All other restrictions (no lifting more than 5lbs, no sex, ect) still apply.
I did more today than I have in the last 2 weeks. Mom came by for a 2 hour visit. Had my dr's appointment, went to work to give release (everyone was very happy to see me), went to rent some movies, went out to eat with hubby, and stopped by Wal-mart to pick up a few things. Man am I tired! I can't believe it took that much out of me! But it really felt good to get out of the house. However, I am swollen up like a big balloon! I don't think my stomach has ever been this big. Is it possible I did too much? Well, going to go sit in recliner and watch American Inventer.........Thanks letting me tell you about my day.

Hello Wacko,
If your belly is swollen then you probably did to much.

I also would like to know what questions to ask when I go back on Thurs. for my first post-op visit. I already have a few like what did you leave was it just the right ovary. What did path labs say. And I will also thank him for such great care.

Happy Day,

Am I doing to much?

I had my abdominal hysterectomy and tummy tuck on the 23rd. I've had a lot of problems with gas and rough bowel movements. I have been trying to walk around to keep the intestines flowing but I've been having cramp like pains on my left side. Am I doing to much?

Sweetie. read some of the posts earlier in this thread. I was in the same boat as you, but finally, I am back to normal! AMEN! I recommend stool softeners, like dulcolax, colace, or even store brands. I had great success when I was really blocked up with glycerin suppositories. The relief was quick. Also, milk of magnesia works great. Eat more fruit also. I am eating apples, melons and grapes.

Happy to report all is well. Had my two week today and was told only necessary follow up will be the regular annuals. Small smearing, but only because i'm pushing it, and all the internal parts need another two weeks to settle into their new digs. Uterus is OK per pathology, it was pre-cancerous, but no indication of matastasizing. I'm humbled that I've gotten off so easily. Please continue to write. I care. Morgan

I had my first post-op today. They removed the catheter finally I also got released to drive He told me to trust my body and try to do a little more everyday. He also said it wasn't the pain that was going to prevent me from going back to work it was the exhaustion and I am sure we all know what he was talking about! I am glad everyone is doing well and we will all keep hope alive!!

Update on my doc appt:

She said everything looks good with a couple of exceptions. I've been having a light 'period' for the last 3 days. She said that that can sometimes be due to glands that weren't removed, but she thinks she got them all. She believes it's actually coming from part of the top of my cervix where it is sewn up and she used surgiseal to help keep it closed as it heals. To assist in the healing, she applied some silver nitrate. Lovely enough, I now have a minor external yeast infection thanks to the antibiotics I'm taking. I had no idea. She had to tell me about it! Sheesh!

This evening I am SORE! My little one climbed all over my stomach a couple of hours ago while Daddy was at a softball game. It didn't hurt at the time, but I am really regretting it right now. Ouch!

Anyway, my main concerns now are finishing up healing so that I can get back to playing with my family, work, playing softball, and going to the gym. It is, after all, swimsuit season! =P
