Hey, I am SO glad to hear others having the cramp type feelings much like pre-menstrual cramps. Well, I mean I am not glad you are having them but others are experiencing what I have had. I too likened them to 'phantom' pains. Not sure what they were/are, but not having them much now. Plan on asking my surgeon when i see her in another 8 days.

Hello everyone! Glad to hear everyone (for the most part) is doing well! Today is my 3 week point and I am doing VERY well! I am so happy to feel better and be able to do more. Not as much discomfort when going to the bathroom, getting in and out of bed and the car are easier. I still don't dare to lift too much so I also have my kids carry the laundry basket for me and push the grocery cart, etc. I tried raking this past weekend, that is now a "no-no" in my book at least for a little while. I still have a slight pain in my side, but that is getting better. This coming weekend Aunt Flo would have been visiting, it will be nice not having her around! I was bummed that I still had PMS and my "period pimples". I was hoping that I wouldn't get them anymore. Tonight my DH is taking me to see the Pirates of the Caribbean movie, I'm hoping it won't bother me too much to sit there for the 3 hours. I guess I'll find out!
Well, that is my update, my best to all of you!!!

Hello everyone!!
I'm so glad to read that things are going better for us as we move along in our recovery. I went to my 3 week post op appt. Everything is going well. I did get a script for some Ambien though because I can't seem to sleep through the night after 11 pm. Anyway, my doc told me I could start driving if I felt up to it. It's kind of a scary thought to get behind the wheel again. I'm still having a little trouble getting in and out of it. What do you girls think? Luckily, my DH has been doing everything around the house for me and I haven't dared tried to do any lifting whatsoever. I kind of overdid it the other day (out shopping and hanging out with my friend) and paid for that so I won't let that happen again.
Isn't it great knowing that Aunt Flo won't be coming to visit anymore?
I hope that you all have a wonderful evening and hang in there. We're getting better everyday!!

Sweetie...I drive a Tahoe SUV and it is a real bear to get into. When I got my 2 week's all clear to drive it was real tough to get in, but as the days go by, (three weeks tomorrow!) it gets easier and easier! I would hate not being able to drive! I have so much stuff to do now that the kids are out of school!

My only problem is still bowels...though I am having movements, they are not regular...and they cause me alot of pain moving down the channel. Still gotta push a bit, but it is a big accomplishment cause I am off all meds to help it along!

Big happy thing..NO more pads for me! My discharge is almost non existent now, so I assume it is healing up great inside. What a relief!

Sweetie D, what did the doc say today about your painful urination? I have just finished my 2nd round of antibiotics for this problem, and it's still not gone. WIll find out tomorrow if it's a UTI. Surgery was 5/23.

Gumpette, did you ever get a diagnosis on your pressure while peeing?

Hi there Sisters!

I woke up with the biggest swelly belly yet. I'm really looking like I'm 6 month pregnant, and it's so weird. Some swelling is ok, but this is just ridiculuos.

Now, let me ask you: When you lie down on your back, can you feel an edge in your incision area? I have an "edge" - it's about 1 -1,5 inches wide, and it goes all the way from beginning to end - benath and above my incision. It's a bit icky I think, and it's really strange to touch, kind of hard and deep, sort of. Is that scar tissue?? My husband felt it too, and while he did, his hand kind of stucked to it for a second, in a really weird bumpy way. Gee...

My DD says that it must be scar tissue, and says it's really a reminder of the healing process my body is going through.

I'm thinking that if this really is scar tissue, it probably will be there like forever. Gosh...what a thought!!

Hi All
Good morning to everyone!!

Schnowzerz- thanks for the encouragement. I think I'll take it a day at a time. But it will sure be nice to get out of this house for a while.

Readyor not- My doc told me the pressure I'm feeling is not due to a UTI but probably the shifting of organs going on. I also have been wearing a garment that puts a lot of pressure on my abdomen. I get the pressure every now and then these days. I hope your doc can figure out what's going on with you.

Jibber- Your symptoms sound so scary. I think I'd get a second opinion on what's going on.
You all take very good care of yourselves, it's ok to put yourselves first.
Have a wonderful day!

Darlene, I too had all that pressure and was told it was not a uti. I insisted on a urine sample and low and behold i do have one. I had those symtoms of an infection since my surgery May 23rd. and called the dr. after 2 days home from the castle. there again they insisted it was my organs "moving around and trying to find the right position." My dr. called a WEEK after my urine test and i have a bad uti and now have to take a sulfer antibiotic for 7 days. if you are not sure, ask for a test. I think the infection has a lot to do with me feeling tired, and "crummy" for being there so long. feel better.

Hi All,

I just wanted to let everyone know that I am feeling wonderful after my LAVH/BSO on 5/25/07. I had the surgery on Friday, came home on Saturday, went to a family cookout/pool party on Sunday, layed by my pool on Monday with a short nap. I felt so good that I actually cleaned house on Tuesday (vacuuming and all) and haven't really missed a beat. I went back to dr. on 6/6/07 and returned to work on 6/7/07. I have never felt better. The only complaint I have is that they put me on the Climara patch at the hospital and it stayed on the full week. Then I tried them at home for a week and they only stayed on for no more than 2 days before I had to replace them. At my dr. appt he gave me samples of the vivelle dot which seem to be doing ok since they are changed twice a week. They still seem to buckle some.
My DH said that while I was on the Climara that in the 15 yrs we had been married he had never seen me quite so easy going. Now that I am on the Vivelle he says I seem a little moodier. The directions say to keep them on your abdomen but I have read posts about placing them on the rear for better absorption. Does anyone think this might help or should I go back to Climara and just tape them on?

To JibberJabber

Have you thought of any names yet? (smile). This is your battle scar, no less than the stretch marks of our children. It is proof you're are alive and a survivor. Yeah! Onward and upward!
