Kerry: Don't worry too much about your recovery. My surgery was a day after yours and I still am crampy and don't have a lot of energy. Everybody heals differently and obviously our bodies are taking a little longer. Hang in there, think positive and we will all be back to normal soon.

Hello ladies,

I am definately moving faster around the house, but continue to limit the amount I lift and bend. I am finding that I have pain on one side in the evening that has led to my taking 1 pain killer at bedtime the last 2 nights. I think I am not taking the time to lie down in the afternoon and that is why I am getting the pain. Too much sitting. Anyone else relate to that?? I have no discharge whatso ever (which is strange). My post op appt. will be on July 5th.

Let's all continue to gain strength!!

Oh Kerry, I wish too that you were feeling better. I would guess there are many out there that are healing much like you describe your own recovery. I would suspect they just don't post as often or at all. Everyone is so different.

It sounds like your doc is watching out for your best interests health-wise at least in attempting to leave the ovary in. It would have been nice if his idea would have worked. There is a thread somewhere here on Hystersisters regarding the great ovary debate and whether or not to take ovaries or not etc. I will look back through my posting history and see for sure. Someone posted a couple of links to articles addressing the issue. It might help you with your process and in understanding of why your doc may have felt he wanted to give it a try to leave in an ovary. There are always varying opinions.

But hang in there and don't let yourself get discouraged that you are not doing as well as someone else. And hopefully your pelvic pain will get better very soon.

I looked and the thread is The Ovary Debate. I think it was under the Pre-Op forum.

Dear All: am sitting at the library this rainy day as my house is torn up by anger and a kitchen remodel (source of anger). My lessen for the day is that indecision and self-sabotage are the most painful elements twarting my recovery. Also, as these things do not arise just in the mind but have links to events and people over which I have not an ounce of control (phewww, LONG sentence) I have to be asking myself if I am in a recovery situation, or, am I just kidding myself? I actually found myself taking the left-over narcotics just to fall asleep. Point here is If you have a support person there with you that only drives you crazy 10% of the time give him or her a BIG hug. You are blessed.
Continue to keep up the good work everybody. Sweatin' the small stuff is a waste of energy and time. What we have now is precious, but will pass. The good news is that the cruddy stuff also passes! A jazz band is playing in the lobby (true story!) and the sun has come out. Onward and upward!

I feel this weekend that I have turned yet another corner in the recovery process. I have had a hematoma on the right side of my incision & was told it could last 8-10 weeks, but is seems to be going down quite a bit in the last 2 days & though I've had a great recovery I feel a LOT better. Less pressure - still have the swelly belly, but it is different. Funny how we go through so many phases of recovery.

Jigme, hugs to you & will send a prayer your way to help deal with the anger at your house. Take care!!

As the clock has passed midnight with half an hour here were I am, I'm crossing my fingers for a terrific week and a great recovery to all. As Jigme pointed out, bad things will pass and soon we're all fine!

I'm heading to bed now, hopefully I will have a good night sleep, and tomorrow; off to the hairdresser for some pampering. Good night - or good afternoon and evening!

I was so frustrated on Wednesday. I went for my 4 week
post- op and restrictions were not lifted. Still no vacuuming, mowing, lifting, pushing grocery buggys, swimming, working out. Uggghh!! I still have some healing to go, stiches are still in there. My doc did a silver nitrate treatment to speed healing.

I am going nuts doing nothing. It was great for about 2 weeks, then I slowly began to go really feel the need to get back to normal, which for me is quite hectic, but that's how I like it. I like cleaning my house, going grocery shopping, yard work.

I guess I just have to be patient and feel lucky I have had no complications. Some of us take longer to heal, I guess. I go back on July 5, hopefully I will be able to resume normal activity then. I feel great, no pain, just an occasional tug, like stretching a rubber band inside me. I have much more energy then before my surgery. I was sleeping 9-10 hours a night, probably because of the constant bleeding and anemia. I am now good to go on 7 hours of sleep, and I am not napping. This is great!

Nuts...I overdid it today, and I KNEW better. Spent the morning doing office work at home, then went into the office, followed by shopping for a dress for a family funeral on Wednesday. While at the mall I could feel the pain radiating up under my ribcage. Now I am home, swollen, sore and exhausted. WHAT WAS I THINKING? Obviously the "two steps back" theory. I hope others were smart today and took it easy!

What a dummy.....
