lorphi: i wish i could help but i just had plain ol' LAVH.

All: i went grocery shopping and made it to about aisle 8 out of 12 before i ended up asking for help the rest of the way thru the store, checking out and into the car. On the way home, I called my husband to come home and get all the groceries out of the car for me. For once, he did this without complaint. Then he put ALL of the groceries away. I think he's done that about 2x in our 12 yrs. of marriage. So tonight has been a fabulous night for me, despite the pain I put myself in by going alone to the grocery for a major shopping trip.

i took 800 mg Ibuprofen and am feeling better now. But mostly I think my husband's willingness to help me is what made me feel even better-er. :-)

my brain fog has lifted considerably and i have much more energy. i have slight pain (2/10) late in the day.

I, too, must give kudos to my DH. He has been an owl, watching everything I do..hee hee...he can't see when he is at work! LOL! But he has never complained about having to do stuff I can't, having to walk slower, cause I can't keep up, etc. My kids also have been amazing. I am slowly getting back to normal, but they are great helping me!

Ok girls I have a question for you all
I went to my 5 week check up and my doctor said I have the green light on week 6 to have sex again but I was worried because she only examined my bladder physically. I was complaining about it bothering me since the surgery. She didn't actually look at anything internally. Am I being paranoid that I should have made sure that she actually looked and that everything is healing properly internally?
Thanks for your help.

lavhmay: Thanks for the quick response! Maybe I just need to be more patient? Sounds like I might be on schedule for recovery compared to your shopping expedition, but I have to say 800mg of Ibuprofen wouldn't have taken care of it for me, but pain is different for everybody.

Oops, I forgot to ask if anyone has had really sore breasts? They've been extremely sore for about 3 weeks. I still have both of my ovaries.

Good morning, Princesses! 5 weeks post op for me today.

Not much to report; some fatigue and some hot flashes, swelly belly, lower back pain and such. No mood problems, luckily.

The hot flashes are getting worse, and I might just not be able to ignore them anymore. I'm starting to consider if maybe I should have run some blood test, but I'm not sure. I'm sweating a lot, through the whole day and night, I've actually been doing that for a couple of years, but since I was having my periods untill the TAH, I never thought it could be menopause. Maybe this is it?

Anyway - I'm glad I've reached the 5 weeks mark, one week closer to full recovery.

My DH has been wonderful throughout the whole ordeal and have been taking care of it all in a splendid way, but that's the way he is, so I'm not surprised but I am truly grateful.

Also I wish to thank you all for the support and the opportunity to share thoughts and feelings during these weeks of post op, it have been such a life saver to be able to talk to others in the same situation. Thank you very much! Tusen takk! (the Norwegian way to say it)

Keep healing and continue to gain strength, Sisters!

Sounds like we are all getting there slowly but surely.

Lorphi, I had the same procedure (except the sling - my bladder was stitched back up) on May 25th. Your recovery sounds similar to mine. I've only driven 3 times and they were very short trips. I can't sit for very long and can't imagine going back to work in a week and a half. My dr.'s note said 6-8 weeks.

I started walking around the block in week 4 but started bleeding more, so now I've quit that. I walk around the house, do light laundry (no lifting), do the banking/mail, wash dishes by hand and make some meals. That's about it.

I've tried to only take ibuprofen because I'm scared if I don't feel the discomfort, I will do something to much and delay my healing. I did take some pain meds last night as we had somewhere we had to be. I took my pillow, got an aisle seat and alternated standing/sitting and walking.

I can't wait for my Dr.'s appt Tues. I'm anxious to know if everything went well during surgery and if I'm healing as expected. Unlike SweetieD's Dr., I sure hope he looks inside to make sure.

Hope you all have a good day today

Have you had a post-op appt yet? I go on Tuesday and have lots of questions to ask.

Week 5 Today!

Hello everyone!

I have to say I am doing much better than I ever expected. I feel so good that I really feel like I can get back to working out and lifting, but the Dr said to wait until 6 weeks. So I am doing my best to restrain myself. I'm doing everything I can normally except lift a child and vaccum. I have noticed that after pushing a full cart of groceries around the store I am a little muscle sore in my tummy, but it's not bad. As far as the hormones, I'm on a low dose of Estadiol, and haven't had any symptoms other than I feel I'm more relaxed and not as stressed over the littlest things as I was before the surgery. I'm sure my family appreciates that!

For me so far, this has been a much better recovery than any other I've had in the past.

Wishing you all well.

Good Morning to all my Sisters
I am feeling a little guilty when I read your threads as I have had a very uneventful recovery. I was driving at 3 weeks. I am doing all my housework and gardening. I do have a little swelling at the end of the day, but I feel fine. The only thing I have not done yet is walk the dog, he is 120 pounds of barely trained power and I don't want him to be the cause of any backward slide ! My DR last week told me to start doing all my regular activities (except walking the dog !!) So far no real Menopause symptoms. I wish you could all have the success that I had. Keep smiling, it has to be better soon !

I am in week 5 and doing quite well in the physical sense. I am experiencing some swelling in the abdomin and some soreness but not too bad. My biggest problem has been that since the surgery I have felt like my heart is racing( it really is not, just beating differently where I notice it). I have been to emergency room and they said that everything is fine with my heart and that it is anxiety. My husband and I have a business that is only a little over a year old and we are struggling big time financially getting it off the ground and keeping our heads above water. The surgery down time and financial pressure with that does not help. I have to look at getting another job to supplement our income and all this is weighing on me. Thanks for listening.
