Comparing C-section to Hyst

For any of you who had c-sections--How does that compare to having a TAH? I am just curious. I can't imagine feeling like this and having to take care of a baby too!!

Comparing C-section to Hyst

I have had 2 c-sections. I think it feels the same. Bad part about the c-section was I couldnt pick up baby, I had to have DH hand them to me. Then getting up and out of bed when baby cryed. OUCH!

So yeah...it is just as bad, if not worse.

Comparing C-section to Hyst

I had c-sections 20, 18 & 15 yrs ago with my 3 girls and they do not compare with my TAH. of course, i am 16 yrs older, but I had other issues with this surgery that I did not with the c-sections; such as lacerated bladder (had to wear catheter bag for a week post-op) terriable constipation and hemmoroids. Oh, and dr had to do an episiotomy. To answer to having to care for a newborn after major surgery; i don't know how i did it! but somehow we find the strength and stamina when our kids are involved, don't we? I wish you luck in your recovery; I am just now starting to feel normal again!

bybyutrs, good luck to you in your recovery too--you too beastmaster. I had my 2 week check today and all went well, but I know myself. I have a hard time staying still and this web site has been wonderful for me to keep me busy without overdoing it! After seeing my doc I ran errands, which I know can be too much. Now I am parked in front of the computer for some rest!

4 c sections, 1 TAH

It is a toss up for me. With a baby that is the focus. I am sure that we had more aches and pains than we had the time or energy to deal with. Now healing is our focus! The having to get up, nurse, change diapers etc is now potty time (quicker and easier for me!) , our age has to be a factor, I had my C's 18,15,12,and 9 years ago (not sure how I did that as I can't be a day over 26!!) . Anyway we all do what we have to do when we have to....right??

Hi carrot - I had a TAH on May 8th and find it to be harder in some ways, than my C-section 11 years ago. I'm a lot more sore and it seems to be harder to move and lift with all of the internal stitching. Although at least I don't have to get up every 2 hours to feed Mr. hungry man! Then again, I remember being so tired all the time that I would just sit down and cry. So it seems to be a more intrusive surgery internally but at least DS can now wait on me (when I can catch him.)

I had to c-sections. The last one 21 years ago. I fell that my TAH was much worse. The pain was the same in some ways, but this was worse. Of course I was younger and had a baby to take care of.

Comparing C-section to Hyst

My c-sections were 28, 24, and 21 years ago. I thought they were a piece of cake compared to this. With the second one, I went Christmas shopping straight from the hospital, and with the third, I was back in the swimming pool within three days of coming home from the hospital.

I don't think I ever thought about how I was going to do it with babies...I just did, and had lots of good help from my DH, too.
