Dear Deeber,
At the 2 week post-op my dr. just took out the steri strips for me. I had the abdominal hysterectomy. My stitches will disolve by themselves. If your steri strips came off by themselves or you have taken them out by yourself and you are feeling fine, I think that it would be all right to have the 4 week post-op instead of the 2 week. Call your doctor if in any doubt or if you are not feeling well. Good luck to you.

Ok Things have really gotten weepy. Now I'm crying because my daughters both have sleep-overs tonight! This is usually an occassion to celebrate! Now I'm crying. Be ****ed the hormones! It's going to be a Ben & Jerry's kind of night!

Hi all: I had my post-op today I was released to go back to work on the 20th and he said all looks good. I am still having a low grade fever that he says we need to keep an eye on but otherwise I am back to normal life...UGH!! I am not sure I am ready but here I go ready or not!!

Deeber-geeber - don't feel like the lone ranger! I too was feeling a little odd because I don't see my doctor until my 5th week. I too feel fine! Guess that just means we don't get released sooner. I went out and started my car yesterday, bad move cause it is low caused me to start bleeding, which I hadn't been doing before. But called the doctor's office and they said to keep an eye on it. So no, you aren't alone.

When will the clothes fit

Had TAH May 29th. Still not able to wear normal clothes. (Jeans, etc.) really uncomfortable on the belly. Anyone else experiencing this? Appetite has decreased considerably since before surgery. (Not complaining there) BM's are quite painful. Other than that, doing very well. Walking every morning and doing light house work. Still have 4 weeks before I can return to work.
Hugs to everyone. Hope all is well.

It will get better!! Just hang in there. I was quite weepy for about 2 days and pushed myself to get out and do things and get a little normal. I found that taking off by myself and going to visit people has helped. Its getting better everyday. I wish I could give you a big hug and sit and have some Ben & Jerrys and good conversation. Believe me it helps.
Hang in there we are all here for you.

Princess I had a TLH on the 30th, quite a few of my jeans and shorts are low rise, perfect for under the incisions, but mostly I do wear empire waist sun dresses or nightgowns. I've noticed that my appetite has also decreased, not a bad thing, I needed to lose a little weight and am taking full advantage of the decrease in appetite. Enjoy your time - I too have four more weeks and plan to try and enjoy them while listening to my body!

Deeber, My TAH was also 6/1, along with a bladder sling. I also don't go back until June 25. I did go in and had my staples removed 6 days post-op but I feel the same way as you. I also have to go back to a urologist regarding the bladder around the same time. I'm feeling pretty well and last night I didn't take any medicine before bed. I think I'm off the pain meds now.

I'm one that isn't due to see the doctor until almost 4 weeks post op (although he said 2-3 weeks). The nurse said if I wasn't having trouble it would be necessary to see him beforehand.....she even suggested 6 weeks if I wanted off work. I already discussed that aspect with the doctor and he felt 6 weeks off work was legitimate. I am really in no hurry. The question I was wondering is, I've been out and about since after the 1st week post op, has everyone been staying at home? Maybe I should have been, oops! I noticed yesterday when I was walking at the local mall and doing a little shopping my back started aching me, and again this a.m. in bed it was aching. This is a new complaint so I don't knowwhat that's all about.

My DH has been out of town since my 6th day post-op. I've had to be out and about, taking my kids to camp, grocery shopping, etc. I've cut corners with take-out meals, and letting my kids eat PBJ's for dinner when not feeling well. I've probably been overdoing it a bit, but also am feeling physically stronger. I'm actually starting to do mini-workouts, cutting back on number of sets and reps and leaving out anything that would strain the abs. When I'm not running around with the kids, I've been camped out poolside reading up a storm and taking naps when I'm able to sleep. So, no, Jasminy, you aren't alone in running about town. Still running errands and work are totally different so don't rush back in unless you have to.
