Good for you cj. I too love to swim! I go monday for my 6 wk post op. Hoping to get the okay to swim then. I also have noticed my stomach muscles get sore the more I do, especially walking up hill or twisting and stretching. My legs have turned to total mush. I am so ready to start working out and get back in to shape. I am starting to feel old. Had to have surgery, muscles turning to mush and all kinds of little aches and pains. Gotta start moving again so I can at least feel young. Anyone know how long until we can do strenuous workouts? Weight lifting, playing tennis anything like that? Also has anyones doc said if they have to have a pap done anymore? My friend said her doc is seeing her this week ,1 year post op, for a pap and it will be her last one. Just wondering what other doctors are saying. Let ya all know how my appt. goes Monday. Hope everyone had a great weekend. No more periods!!!!! It is the best thing!

nurcroo, my doctor said he kept most of my cervix and yes, i still need pap smears once a year. He said he wanted to keep it for pelvic floor support as I age and he also said it helps with sexual function.

Nurcroo, You go girl! I'm not sure how keeping the cervix helps, but I've been told that several times. I've had 2 doctors tell me that. I think b/c it's muscular or something......I wish I could get on with it, or should I say, get it on...... I have 5 more weeks!!!! Oh well, what's 5 weeks in the long run. I envy you and your hubby. You have to let us know how it goes....I'm a little worried about it all.

Well, I finally made it!! I just got back from my 6wk check and my Dr. has released me for all regular activities! Good grief-I'm even excited about going back to work tomorrow! (I'm sure it won't last). It was just so good to hear that everything looks good, is healing well, and unless I have any problems, he doesn't need to see me for 6 months! It's also so nice to feel good again. I have really gained in energy the last few days and even got a decent nights sleep last night. Guess it will be back to getting up at the crack of dawn tomorrow. At least it also means getting back to being with my dh .

This is the best website and I am really enjoying being able to talk with everyone and share experiences. I'll let you know tomorrow how the first day back to "normal" went.

Hi! My Hystersisters,
Just came back from my 6 weeks Post-op also. The Dr. said it looks (feels) all right inside - said to ease back into my regular activities and listen to my body. It is still a little swollen the abdomen and pelvic area, and the sides of the abdomen still hurts (like tiny needles poking) once in a while, but she reasures me that it is normal.

Swimming is ok in the lake or other places, just take it easy on the tummy. Also, she mentioned to go back to multi-vitamins - no need of the iron pills anymore. About donating blood to the Red Cross, she mentioned to wait about 3-4 months and take the blood test to find out if it is ok. Other than that, next check up will be same time next year. Dr. checked the muscle inside and gave me a valuable suggestion: not to use the abdominal and/or the buttocks muscles to do the Kegel exercise, but the internal muscle (vaginal muscle alone).
To jcmch, welcome back to the workforce tomorrow .

Wow.... I didn't even think to ask about when it would be okay to start donating blood again. Thanks for the info.

I was released last Tuesday for normal activities. Tested it out this weekend by really cleaning my house after a long 5 weeks of being ignored. I vacuumed, dusted, and washed floors on my knees. Felt a tired afterward, but hey I would normally feel tired after doing all of that. But no pain or twinges in by tummy.

So glad everyone is doing well. I went swimming again today and did much better. My upper stomach muscles didn't hurt. I'm taking it slow and not pushing myself too much. I'm curious Rosetulip how to not use the buttocks muscles. I'm trying here and it's really hard.... Well, I have 4 1/2 more weeks before I can have sex.... I just can't believe the urologist wrote than restriction! I could see 6 weeks, but 10! Oh well.

Dear cj8867, I still have difficulty doing the Kegel exercise without tightening the buttock. Try to relax that area and concentrate on the vaginal muscle oly (your Dr./dh or yourself would be able to feel the pressure).
