Michele,
I think it's part of the healing process, the ends get puffed up a little. I've been using the antibiotic bandaids with extra triple antibiotic PLUS ointment or the Curad Telfa Pads with adhesive tabs with the TAP ointment, both alternately with airings and wearing sundresses so no seams or fabric is directly on the incisions. Don't ever be afraid to call your DR!!!! They can ususally tell you over the phone what to do, without having to go in again. Hope you're better!!

karen,

you go girl! Even though some of us have husbands....they are like having another child....completely needing us to tell them what to do and when...and of course the heavy sigh that follows (from them)! sigh... I just thank goodness for you ladies....otherwise I would really lose my mind ...I do feel like a wimp and my friends not being around confirm that I should be "moving on" at this point... So on that note...I'm going to watch my sons championship baseball game, have hubby drop my daughter off at a sleepover...and i'm going to celebrate my birthday in silence. We'll get through this...we'll keep chugging...to think what we've already been through before the surgery and we toughed it out and always pushed forward...never really allowed to complain...we're still toughing it out...we're just made to stand still for a bit more....we'll be off an running in no time!

take care!

Let me preface my post by first saying, MY HAT IS TIPPED TO ALL OF YOU WHO HAVE ENDURED A TAH WITH OTHER REPAIR ISSUES!!!

It is not that all of us do not deserve a hand for our endurance through our hysters. But today I realized just how fortunate I was to have a TVH and how blessed I've been through all of this.

I had my first post-op appt. this morning and it was GREAT. The pathology report revealed that I did NOT have endo...or adeno. I did have an enlarged uterus due to 10 small fribroids. My uterus was prolasped and positioned right on my bladder. There were no cysts on ovaries. Cervix was unremarkable, which is indicative of no endo, adeno, or cancer.

I was given the green light to resume all activities, with the exception of sex of course, within moderation. I am restricted from weight lifting/training. But can return to gym. I drove myself to my appt., so driving is no problem.

The exam revealed that I'm healing about as "perfectly" as the surgery itself went. The post-op discharge is normal. In fact, I was questioned about the discharge before I could even bring it up. The absent of one (according to my doctor) would have raised her eyebrows. So, I'm fine there. Some of the order is due to dried blood and just from the surgery itself. Without the presence of other symtoms, there isn't a need for alarm. It will go away in about 1-2 weeks.

I also lost 7lbs, so far. Looking forward to that number increasing...LOL!!! So, all in all, it is well with me and I'm looking forward to "moving on" as stated above by freebutrfly.

BTW, freebutrfly, HAVE A WONDERFUL AND HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

Much love to you all. Take care! I'll be checking in from time to time.

In Him
Cynthia

one of my friends said her MD said 10 weeks recovery for her.---but most of my friends have been saying 6-8. So i am figuring at the end of 6 I weeks I/We can begin to get back to normal life (with lifting & straining restrictions.)

The one thing I want to warn about is using the vacuum. Apparently that is the one most worse thing to do, as it pulls on stomach muscles.---even my progesssive MD says wait 6 weeks for that--I will be waiting 8 or 10.

I was also warned about NO vacuuming when i was having trouble carrying my youngest daughter---so apparently it IS very straining on the stomach.

Blessings to us all

2 Years Post Op - Abdominal Pain

I will be 2 years post op in August 2007 and I still have pain, especially in my lower right abdominal area. It's sensitive to the touch and I still don't have any feeling about 3 inches up from my incision. Very frustrating! Anyone else have such a thing going on?
