Debbie,

Thanks for your post. This website has been an invaluable resource for me to obtain the information I needed for my recovery. To clarify. I had my TKR the last part of May. Postoperatively I was required to give myself Lovenox shots to help with DVT's. Even though I already had a history of heavy periods no oral medications seemed to work. A week and a half after my TKR I was filling a pad every hour. I even got so weak I passed out on my 16 year old daughter. I went to my doctor and they sceduled me that Friday for a D&C with a Novasure ablasion and tubal ligation.

Upon asking my DH in the recovery room how everything went he stated that the doctor was only able to do the D&C and the Tubal Ligation. The Novasure instrument would not deploy because of the shape of my uterious. I was very upset. I went home that day with the hope that this would help but it did not. I was bleeding just as bad as I was before the D&C. I was scheduled the following Friday for my hysterectomy.

My doctor has said that it appeared that the lovinox injections for my knee replacement surgery didn't help my bleeding and probably made it a lot worse. He thinks that this was the time for my system to shut down. It had been trying to go on the fritz for a few years.

I am doing my knee replacement physical therapy in a modified form while I am "bedridden" Flexability is great, I have just got to get my strength back and boy has that been complicated.

My Kids (Girl 15, Boy 6) are home for Summer Break and I have truly cramped their style. They just dont understand how much I talk to them that I cant just hop up from the bed, fix everyones breakfast, clean up their room (because they are to lazy to do it themselves) and allow them total access to the computer, phones, tvs and golf cart so they can go all over the neighborhood. I will be so glad when my prison sentence is over. I can't wait to go back to work and talk with adults that have some reasoning power.

Thanks for letting me vent its been one of those days here. That was very helpful. I love this website for all the advice and friendship that are on these pages.

Oh my goodness Bonnie,

I can't imagine having to go through all of that...please keep us posted on how your coming along and hang in there. Your children are just going to need to help out...can you have a family meeting and let them know you will be down for so many weeks and its up to them to help out...there aren't any choices in this...its just the way it is.

Then end on your looking forward to a better time...can you plan a small weekend trip for everyone to look forward to? Or just an over nighter somewhere in the Fall? Sounds like you might want something to focus on and work towards that could be fun!

Bonnie: I agree ----your kids (and DH if necessary) are just going to have to understand---if you give in more than likely you are going to have a relaps of sorts and you will end up either back in the hospital or at very least with a MUCH longer recovery time. Your oldest is certainly old enough to understand---and the little one will follow everyone elses lead---take care

Pach, I'm sorry about the tachacardia keeping you down. I had the chocolatey endo too. I had a myomectomy in 2004 with no endo. I was having a hyst due to aggressive regrowth of fibroids and their complications. It took him 45 min to get through the scar tissue to get to everything else. it was so gooey with endo, adhesion, and scar tissue that he had to take it all. I didn't know I had endo until I woke.

God has blessed me though, and I am recovering nicely. Driving hasn't been a problem even with a 5 speed transmission. It's been a week since I've had anything for pain except an occasional ibuprofin, and I don't even remember when that might have been. I'm walking daily, but not exerting myself other ways. I'm making an effort not to lift or anything. My bladder infection may be going away; I hope and pray it is anyway.

I've been reading all the posts and will continue to pray for you, especially those having problems during recovery.

Thx ladies, I appreciate the help. His office was closed yesterday due to a funeral in his family. They re-open on Monday, which is when I have my next appt anyway. I have been letting the infected spot drain, and the skin around it has gone from an angry red to a touch of pink. It is still an open spot, and he'll probably put a stitch into it and yell, but whatever.

By letting it drain, most if not all of the pain has been draining as well. I guess I just have to put it into God's hands, pray and keep a vigilant eye on it for now. On the plus side, he is just a specialist that my FP sent me to for the surgery and after I heal, I will NEVER have to deal with him again! HAHAHAHAHAHA! It's not like I'll have problems with an irregular period again! And my FP can handle prescribing HRT. So, I'm not concerned that he has issues with padded girls, even though he outweighs me by like 50 lbs. Self-loathing fatty. LOL

BTW,

Has anyone else had a complete meltdown b/c they can't fit into their favorite jeans anymore? I cried for 40 minutes over the top of the dryer before I conned myself into thinking it was they dryer's fault. I could hardly get them past my butt. And they are stretch! So although I know it isn't right to hate a dryer, I just had to ask if anyone else has had that issue!

Thanks - I used to use Excedrin all the time for migraines as it would knock them out quickly, but then . . . . I started having all of these bruises show up. Went to my PCP about that as I was looking quite battered! Come to find out the aspirin in the excedrin was the culprit!! Stopped taking it (except on occasional basis) and the bruising stopped.
But, I do keep a small bottle of them in my purse - just in case I am out, need something and don't have Imitrex in my purse.

In discussing the headaches with my Dr. I realized they are 'officially' migraines (not just 'really bad' headaches, as i had thought of them!) and peri-menopause is behind them rearing their ugly head in my head!! So, I am hoping that once I get through menopause - they will stop altogether.

Hi Froggie,

Give yourself a break! i know what you mean but it can't be helped at the moment...just think...how uncomfortable will you be after squeezing into them after an hour...ouch So just give yourself a little bit more of a break...we'll be into our favorite jeans in no time!

Also hot compresses 3 or 4 times a day is what I was told by my doc about my infected incision...plus neosporin after. cover if oozing or let the air get to it if its not....loose fitted clothes. You probably know all of these things...but maybe nice for reinforcement. so much to remember. Hang in there!!!!
