Thank you ForeverSore, I appreciate the feedback.
I do eat several times a day, but it just feels weird that I'm never really hungry...

In calmer moments, I know there's nothing wrong with any of us. If you're anything like me, it's safer to cry over a puppy or Viagra ad than it is to grieve over the changes in my body, my life and current state of painful vulnerability. A friend told me this about my rollercoaster emotions and tears: no matter how scary and confusing it feels, our subconscious knows exactly what it's doing: draining the mix of pain, anger and grief any way it can so we can heal and grow stronger and healthier in every way.

Well, it sounds good on paper, anyway.

And CB1, sorry it took so long to reply but it would be crazy not to feel anger in response to any one of the many challenges you're facing. Sounds to me like stupid people behaving rudely towards your sweet boy is one excellent reason! The stress of illnesses in a family AND your painful vulnerability during your recovery AND hormone adjustments? That's a surefire recipe for rage, darlin'! They should be grateful you let them live!

I find that if I let my rage out in manageable doses, I'm less likely to bite someone's head off ... when I don't mean to! Of course, that was pre-hyster when I was semi-rational. Now I'm insane, just like everyone else posting about it. This feels like an extended, especially rabid PMS. I so admire you saints with children!

Anyone ever see the Wayans bros. movie "I'm Gonna Get You Sucka?" There's a great scene where this very pretty, softspoken lady tells her boss she's going home because her period is bothering her. As she walks home, a big thug grabs her arm and she screams. Then, with one arm, she backhands the villain and throws the guy across the street! He slams into a car and crumples into a heap, shaking. Snarling, she bounds over to where he's laying stunned. "What got into you lady, the devil?" the thug gasps. The camera does a slo mo shot of her turning her head. and as she does, her eyes turn red, her teeth grow into huge fangs and her hair stands on edge. "No," she hisses, "CRAMPSSSSSSSSSSS"

I feel very grateful for my in-person friends who seem to love and forgive me anyway. And thank you. my online sisters, for your heartfelt posts, the shared laughs (even though it makes Thomas ache. Thomas is my incision, mentioned in an earlier post) and the company 24/7 since I can't seem to sleep any more.

I decided to go back to work part time next week even though I still need Darvocet once or twice a day. Motrin doesn't seem to work on some of my pain. I'm nervous and elated. Hope I can keep it together and not assassinate my trainee (lovely gal, a little slow on the uptake. technically. She's a friend of the VP's wife so they hired her anyway. Oh lord, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of those I had to kill because they got on my last nerve. ).

This too shall pass. Right?

Yes, thanks, me too! AND gaining weight at the same time??? I mean, they removed a 10 lb fibroid and my uterus, how could I have gained 5 lbs when a carrot stick and a glass of water fills me up?? Yeah, yeah, water retention, blah blah. AUGH.

horse gals out there?

Hi to all,
I had my TAH on June 6th because of a huge fybroid, I was able to keep both ovaries. I am feeling pretty good at the begining of my 4th week, better than I thought I would. I do get tired easily. The thing bothering me the most is not being able to ride my horses. I was told by the doctor absolutely no riding for at least 6 weeks. It's driving me crazy. Anyone else dying to be out in the barn?

Bulge on one side of incision?

Fellow Sisters,

Has anyone experienced a bulge on one side of their incision?

It was obvious from day one. My doctor sent me for a cat scan yesterday as he says he doesn't know what it is. I keep
imagining I will have to go through more surgery and at this point that is the last thing I want!

Any guidence girls?

lgh & icb ; this may not apply--but when I had my last c-cection 21 yrs ago my incision ws all bunched up on one side and was traised & quite ugly--dr ignored it and i had resigned ,myself to the fact that i was gonna be disformed. Well when it all healed it was flat, & simply beautiful. I think perhps you do have swelling or some such, and it will all be ok--esp since lgh had a cat scan & nothign was found. Good luck to you both.

I sold my horse before surgery.....I only had him for a few months. He was great on the ground but very challenging under saddle. I knew I wouldn't be up to that for months. I hope to find one that I can enjoy as soon as the doctor gives me clearance.

I'm glad someone else is looking to be back in the barn. I only have goats in the barn right now, but I stay away from them too. I don't want one contrary goat to butt me in the gut and do me in.

We'll be back in the saddle soon. You sooner than me, since you have a horse. Can you tell I'm jealous?

kdarm,

How are you feeling? I see we had surgery the same day. Were you able to keep your ovaries? I go back to the doctor on July 10th and I realize that I won't be given the clearance to ride but hopefully I can do some of the barn chores again. Funny how I miss cleaning the barn but not the house! Too funny.....
I know how crazy goats can be but oh boy are they cute! I can see why you are steering clear of them for awhile. I really feel like I could be doing more but I'm trying to listen to the doctor....I definately don't want to have to go back in for repairs because I did something too soon. Hope you are doing well! good luck in finding that horse!

Karen,

I'm doing very well. I ran into a coworker who knew that I was having surgery as soon as school was out. She had to do a double take this morning at Walmart because she didn't expect me to be out and about and looking normal. LOL I get out and go, but I don't do much at all. I bought juice and dish soap this morning, but put them in separate bags so that it wouldn't be too much putting them in the car. I load the dishwasher and pick up here and there. I have pulled a few small weeds but point out the larger ones to my dh to pull. I don't want to risk repairs or excessive adhesions either. My energy level is fine so that I feel like I could do anything, but I try to take it easy.

No, I didn't get to keep my ovaries (though that was the plan) or the cervix. So far, I haven't experienced any unusual symptoms indicating menopause---even though I'm steering clear of HRT due to endo. (Occasional nightsweats that can be attributed to the stuffy/muggy weather.) My only pain at this point is some pain in the bowels (in the same area I had pain pre-surgery) about a half hour or so prior to a BM. It isn't so bad that I take anything; I haven't had anything except vitamins (and antibiotics) for over two weeks.

My doc appt. is on the 5th. It's funny how all the doctors do things differently. He will be doing an exam (agghhh) to check the vaginal cuff. I doubt that I will be cleared for anything beyond what I'm already doing. There is a ladies pool party the next day; I don't know if I'll be cleared for that or not. I tend to doubt it.

I'm sure you won't be cleared to clean the barn. That would be way worse for your tummy than pushing a vacuum. You should be allowed to do some chores though. Have you done any grooming? My horse was just contrary enough that I was afraid he'd bump me, jerk on me, or something if I was doing anything with him. Now I don't have the temptation....I did find out that a neighbor has a half dozen Walkers that he wants to sell....I may be getting back into it soon.

Have a great day.

One other observation: 3.5 weeks may be too early for intensive puppy training. My tummy was kind of sore after trying to teach a larger puppy to sit.
