Do Cysts Grow Larger due 2 Overactive Hormones??

I am approaching a two year partial hyst. I am 41. I am concerned with these cyst on my ovaries. One is 185 cm and my left ovary is 6 cm. How do I convert them into inches? I had pain last week but it has gone away. My doctor sent me to an oncologist to have them removed, he wants to remove them next week. I have been reading all kinds of things on the internet. I am wondering because I don't get a period every month that these cysts keep growing because of increased hormones? How do I know my hormones are overactive without a bloodtest? I guess this is what I am hoping for because Im scared to death.

If you have a condition called PCOS your testosterone levels will be high. Good to test both testosterone and free testosterone. Also your estradiol levels will likely be low which may be causing the lack of periods. If they remove the cysts and perhaps treat you with hormones it's possible you will regain your fertility. I'm hoping for the best for you.

Do Cysts Grow Larger due 2 Overactive Hormones??

I went through this in March....the cyst came on suddenly, mine was only 2 cm....about the size of a golfball was explained to me....this caused extreme pain and discomfort for me....I had it followed up by transvaginal ultrasound, 2 of them....and a CA125 blood test.....I am 50...and going through menopause.....I am kind of wondering why the doctor wants to be so quick to remove the entire ovaries? did they do an ultrasound? it would frighten me if a oncologist was called in right away, so be sure to know what all your options are at this point.....and whether there are any other tests that can be done before you are put into surgical may not be necessary......I will probably end up getting mine removed due to other problems I am having....but then again, I am trying to get all the info I can first.....and then try to make a more informed decision......hope you get some answers as well....

Hi Michele,

You may want to ask to have your testosterone and insulin serum levels checked. If either one are too high, you may have PCOS and unfortunately a hysterectomy or a BSO will not cure PCOS. You may want to check out this site PCOS What is Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome and see if you can relate to the symptoms.
