OK I know this is gross.....but.....

I had posted a thread earlier because I was concerned that I hadn't had a BM since my surgery on Monday (today is Friday) and as I was reading some of the replies to my post, I felt the 'urge' and managed to have a small BM. But I am now concerned as to what it 'looked' like!!! It was covered in whitish junk, cottage cheeselike stuff.....is that normal?? Something to do with the anesthetic or something or what? Has this happened to anyone else?

Hope you feel ok!

Hey..... I remember feeling worried too. I'd give it until next time to see how things go. Your system has had a major shock to it and you had to go without food...and then you had IV's and you had anesthesia. Give yourself time.

By the way, I started eating Dannon Light "Activia" yogurt to assist with the issue of waiting too many days between.

Sometimes you have a little extra mucus if you haven't had a bm in a few days. It helps to coat the intestinal walls and "slide" things along. Not gross at all. Everyone poops!

I don't know about the "white" issue but I am also having an issue with BM. Looks like very little output for the the amount of input and it takes forever. Definitely no longer on a schedule. I with to my regular Dr today and he said it's normal. To eat more fiber, drink more water and walk more. He said not to try laxatives.

OK I know this is gross.....but.....

My Dr gave me stool softeners when I was discharged from the castle. Also shredded wheat of any kind did wonders for me. My issues were with internal pain, but going was never an issue. Also, my mom who is a nurse pushed me to eat the tropical fruit in a can. Like I said no problems actually going. Discomfort as things moved through the intestine, but going was not an issue.

Same here. It took about the same time for me to have my first BM after surgery. I took a stool softner, and haven't had a problem since. Tho I have been trying to eat more fiber, but not too much -other wise it turns into diaherra(sp?). So I have to watch my intake. I have noticed that I go more now than before. LOL Anyone else have tons of gas right before having a BM? That is the only thing.
