home within 24 hours

Hi everyone! I had a LTH yesterday and I'm home today! They were able to do everyone through the laparscope, so I didn't need any additional cuts other than the 3 on my belly. I was pretty sore yesterday in the hospital and was not tolerating the morphine well, but they switched me to Tordol, which was fabulous. I didn't have the major snowed feeling with it. Today I'm on Motrin 800 only and I'm feeling good. It's definitely a soreness when you move, but I'm moving slowly. The key is to move though, I found that it's helping relieve the gas quicker and the pain as well. I'm also planning on no HRT so my OB increased my zoloft to 100mg to hopefully offset some of the depression or anxiety that may increase. I'm planning on taking alot of the wonderful information from this site and getting some herbs and vitamins. My DH has been wonderful and the support has been wonderful. I'm a nursing student, so all of my friends have been great. Thank you to everyone for the wonderful information, this has been a lifesaving site for me since I joined! LucyLuLu

So I am 1 week + 2 days post-op now. The dizzy feeling has gotten better. My DH and I have been walking on a road next to a canal near my house every night. We usually run on it but I am happy to walk for now. My appetite is getting better. If something sounds good I try to get it and eat it (ha!). Yesterday, I went by the store and bought some turkey & swiss and made myself a huge sandwich. I started driving on Monday - 2 very short trips. Yesterday was longer but also normal. I haven't been on the pain killers since last Thurs and that was what my DR was concerned about with driving. Very little bleeding- spotting essentially. When we walk it always hurts a little on the right side at the side of one of my incisions. Mostly, my biggest problem is my back. That big muscle that runs between my shoulder blade and my waist is causing me a lot of pain. It may not even be related to the LAVH.

Hope you are all doing fantastically!
Blessings to all princesses!

I had my TAH last Tuesday afternoon. Did really well, except excessive bruising and sutures bleeding. I came home Saturday morning. It's nice to be home the biggest challenge is getting in and out of bed. Pain is manageable when in bed and even when walking, but getting up and down UGH! I am pleased with my progress...I thought it would be soooooooo much worse. I can tell the next biggest challenge will be to give in to my body and let it heal, I tend to rush myself to get back in the swing of things.

Ok day 5 TAH and I am really dizzy today. I am tired but I can NOT sleep. What is my problem. I sleep well at night. I got up once last night for the bathroom and them woke for the day at 8:30. I have some burning in left side not sure why. I love having my shower, I feel so good after that. I am bored out of my mind. I can only watch so much tv or read. Any ideas out there. I could scrapbook?

Quite a few people are eching this sensation. I am also experiencing this. There has got to be a real reason for this burning given that it is a common experience. Anybody know what it is?

I am post op 5 days after having a TAH on 6/15/07. All went very well. I was home in 2 days and walking the first day post op. I was able to sit, stand, bend, and slowly climb in and out of bed by day 2. I miraculously haven't had too much painful gas, and finally had a BM on day 3 after much worry. I stopped the prescribed stool softener on my own and had my husband pick up prune juice which I mixed with half 7 -up. (A Hystersister suggestion from the Land of Hyster) Wow, it has worked wonders, and didn't even taste bad. I've been eating all normal food; just in smaller quantities. I have generalized pain and discomfort in my abdomen area and am exhausted however, not much else to complain about. I feel very lucky and everyday I'm getting stronger. My husband has been so great; patient, and caring. My mom came from 45 miles away to spend the night, and I've received calls and cards from so many. I am lucky in so many ways and feel all this loving support and good wishes will propel me through this recovery.

Hello! I had a LAVH on the 15th and am feeling pretty good---- I tire easily, but I can live with that. I wasn't expecting the gas following surgery, though. Yikes! Luckily, I'm over that hurdle. I also had that thing that you blow in, but my dr didn't tell me that I had to continue using it once I left the hospital.

Has anyone else experienced the feeling that you just can't quite get your bladder completely empty? I feel like I'm treading to the bathroom a million times a day to pee, and as soon as I finish, I feel like I need to go again.

this is my first post since the castle. Tuesday, (I think) up and shuffling a little bit today. The operation (Thuresday the 14) was suppose to only take an hour, but it took an 1:45 they left one ovary and removed thetumors and uterus. Hopefully no hormone treatments for me.

Beside the large tumor (which we named Leroy) that had grown to the size of a large grapefruit they found another tumor the size of a tennis ball attached. My husband and girlfriend named the second tumor Leron since I was out of it. Yep, I had twin tumors the doctor was shocked too. Now I am 13 pounds lighter.

The first night at the hospital I ripped open some stitches while walking with the nurse. Guess I was excited about being out of bed. Came home Friday. But other than that home and getting better day by day. Still in a lot of pain, tire easly and dealing with a side affect of the medication of being itchy all the time. The nurses say its most likely to stress that I was under before the surgery (dad died and work (town) and family business)
I think I am going to go back to bed after this email, tired already. But I made it to kitchen today, then husband took me outside for a walk (100 feet) yeah for me.

Thanks everyone for saying a prayer and positive thoughts for me cant wait to celebrate- no more tumors/ no more pain.

So this is what a hyst is like!

Well I did it. I had a Divinci Robotic Assisted Laproscopic Hysterectomy. I agree with others here, gas is a huge issue. GasX was bought for me my first night home. I rotate from Percocet to Motrin which seems to help but I have that pulling, almost a cramp type of feeling all the time. Does anyone have any trouble with urination not being a steady flow (takes 2-3 strems to complete). I had a cath in after my surgery and it was removed the next morning but seems to have messed me up a bit. wonder when I will feel like bouncing around like that icon! to all the women doing this with me!
