So this is what a hyst is like!

Well I did it. I had a Divinci Robotic assisted Laproscopic Hysterectomy on 6/14/07. That is the way to go! I agree with everyone about the gas being an issue, wow! GasX helped with that. I have the swelly belly thing, my kids asked if I gained weight or was pregnant, NOT. Does anyone have trouble with urine flow? It takes me 2-3 streams to get the job done. I did have a cath in until the morning after surgery and it hasn't been the same yet. Constipation because of the pain killers has been an issue. I use 2 stool softners in the am and 2 in the pm and now I am going daily. to all the women out there doing the same recovery as me!

I could scrapbook?
Hey there! I'm getting really bored too!!! The
TV is driving me crazy and I find that focusing on the words in a book is a little difficult too. Today I thought I might do some scrapbooking - it's funny that I found your post here saying the same thing. I too enjoy the shower - but it totally exhausts me afterward. Last night I was watching the TV with my daughter and something caught in my throat and I coughed - it felt like I tore everything inside( it hurt sooo bad I started to cry). I'm just going to baby myself today. I'm going to call you Laura so we can chat, OK?

It's wonderful that new friendships are formed here at Hystersisters. This is just a reminder that personal chat should be done in Private Message or email as this thread is for recovery progress reports only.

Also, questions about recovery should be posted in a new thread in the post op forum.

I hope you are all resting and pampering the princess.

Does anyone have any trouble with urination not being a steady flow (takes 2-3 strems to complete). I had a cath in after my surgery and it was removed the next morning but seems to have messed me up a bit. wonder when I will feel like bouncing around like that icon! to all the women doing this with me!
Hi - Yeah, the gas thing has continued to be the biggest problem for me ( thank God for the GasX - I've lived on that stuff pretty much consistently since I've been home) I tried to wean myself off the T#2's but became too uncomfortable. The bladder thing is also a bit of a problem, takes a few streams to complete the task(maybe its from swelling post op). I am also alternating between T#2's and Motrin ( I've also got that crampy/pulling sensation most of the time along with the gas. My vag hyst was done last Friday, too!

One week post op

Top of the morning to my hystersisters!

It is getting better each day. I think I have done too much walking and have a little belly pain again. When I take my T3 it does the trick and I only need one of them to keep it at bay. Have done a few short outings and yesterday I drove a short distance. Nice to connect with the world again, but I must keep reminding myself that I have had major surgery and to not over due it. We are in recovery. I still have a little swelly-belly.

I plan to go for an outing today too. Not sure what or where yet.

Looking forward to the healing process to be over and to never look back.

Enjoy your day and take care of yourselves!

Off to the docs in a few hours for my first post-op appt. First time behind the wheel since my surgery on June 13th. Can't wait to get my stitches out. They are starting to itch. Will write later with progress report.

Good Morning to everyone,
I stayed up in bed a bit later this am. I was up at 3 am and did not get back to sleep until past 6 am. (Not sure what that is about) I have a lot of pulling pain when I stand up today. I am still taking Motrin and it seems to help. KRN I also have been coughing and it does hurt. For me I try and hold a pillow as tight as I can to my belly so it does not hurt. I went out for a ride last night, dropped DS off at the golf course and came home. That was long enough, my DH make me nervous when he drives on a good day. We are going out to his parents for dinner tonight, hope I can stand sitting there for a few hours.
