Glad to hear you all are doing okay. I can't get over the fatigue!! My surgery was Monday at 7:30 a.m., I was home by 10 a.m. on Tuesday. After I had a BM most of the pressure I felt went away. I haven't bled any (knocking on wood), but I wear out so easily. I decided to take a shower and wash my hair yesterday afternoon. I was drying my hair (which is short, by the way, so hardly takes any time) and started feeling faint. After I was done I needed a nap. I've walked a bit 3-4 times a day, short distances, and always need to lay down afterwards.
Did anyone else get that lung thingy? You suck out of the tube? My Dr. wanted me to keep doing it for another week as she said it helps expand the lungs back out. Right after surgery I only got it to go halfway up the tube, but now am getting it to the top consistantly. Oh, and my pants are all a little baggier, I've been wearing my regular clothes. Could my uterus have been causing a pudge?
Anyway, I'm in that fog that's been talked about and could probably go on and on, but am feeling the need to lay down. Take it easy ladies. The worse part is over.

I got to the hospital on Wed 13 June at 7 am; by 9:30 am I was walking back into the operating room. I was not nervous, just tired from tossing and turning the previous night. Both surgeons came in and had me sign a consent that if the endo was bad they would need to change from LAVH to TAH. Upon waking up, I knew I had an incision. There was some pain. After recovery, I went into the room and the Dr's dame in to tell me about the surgery. I had a TAH. The endo was severe. They took the left ovary, left fallopian tube, uterus and cervix. The Dr. said it took them almost 4 hours to complete the procedure. I had scarring and endo everywhere. Thank God I as able to keep the ovary and the right fallopian tube. The Dr says the right ovary will kick in and do the job for both ovaries in about 2 weeks. No HRT is needed! I am in a little pain, mostly sore. But, the gas is horrible. I am glad to be home. My DH is posting this for me. I don't know when I will be back on the site, because the computer room is up 16 stairs. The stairs are definitely going to take some time. I hope the other sister's surgeries went as well as mine. Everyone at the Hospital were amazing. But the way, before I had the surgery I gave the Drs and Nurses/assistants a letter. It was a big hit. Sending my love to all.

Biopsy report

Whew, did I ever dodge a bullet! Two weeks before my hysterectormy, I had a D & C--the pathology report showed severe hyperplasia with abnormal cells, but no malignancy. That's what convinced me to have the hysterectomy.

Today I got the pathology report from the hysterectomy, which showed a cancer in the wall of the uterus! Fortunately, it was less than halfway through the wall, so it will not have spread anywhere else. The doctor even said, "You're cured." Wow. When I think that I might have delayed the procedure.... But I didn't, and I am so grateful that whatever inner and outer guidance brought me to this conclusion.

I did get the breathing thing also that you suck air in like a straw. Thank you for reminding me - I forgot all about doing it!

EcoSister, I am so happy and relieved for you! :dance2:

Marty, I am glad that you are home and sound like you are doing well!

My bowels are not working right, and my surgery was on the 13th, home on the 14th, and now things are not good. How many prunes can I actually eat? I tried a laxative (I should have done a stool softener), and then I had diarrhea. That went on for about 6 hours, and was very painful. Now I am back to constipated. Help! Anyone else?

I had success on the toilet yesterday, but not today. I haven't gotten frantic yet, though. I've been drinking prune juice, took a stool softener, and ate a few prunes. Hoping that all takes effect overnight! Think flowing thoughts!

I had SAH on the 12th and came home in the afternoon on the 15th. The surgery was a bit eventful in that they removed a great deal of scare tissue and also found that my utures was totally adhered to my abdominal wall. One doctor said it was like cutting through concrete. I was very nauseous after surgery- from the anesthesia and the morphine. I am happy to be home now, but still very sore and oh the gas.

Hi Ladies,

I had a TAH on Wed. 6/13 and came home on Fri. 6/15 around noon. The procedure went well and I was able to keep both ovaries. I'm really stiff, sore, and swollen near the incision and the gas is not so great. I'm taking Gas X during the day and Miralax once a day. No BM yet, but I'm hopeful. Any suggestions on a good sleeping position in the bed. My first night home was not very restful. I could not find any comfort on my back or side using a body pillow AND sleeping pad.

Take care to all and God bless those of you having surgery next week.

My preferred sleeping position (without an incision) has been on my side, with one flat pillow under my belly, supporting it, and another pillow between my legs. Hope this helps!
