Hello bizzyb, I thought you already had your surgery(June 8) or did I miss something?? For my hospital stay, only 2 days, I packed a small bag. I wanted to have my own jammies and underthings. As well as personal items. My husband even brought up my laptop for the next day which was really cool I didnt bring any books or magazines. I wouldnt have had an oppurtunity to read anyway. I was busy with company or I was sleeping. So other than that I guess anything that would make you feel comfortable. Let me know how all goes. You will be in my thoughts and prayers

Two Weeks Post-op and seeing the light!

I think that I am actually starting to see the light!!! My energy is starting to come back, and I think that I might be human again! I am a real estate agent, and I showed seven homes today! My client (and good friend) drove me around in my car, since my bottom is still soooo sore. I am wondering if this is from the posterior repair?!? I stopped taking a stool softener, and am moving just fine now, but I have vaginal pain mostly at night and if I overdo it, so at night I have still been taking my vicadin. Anyone else with a vaginal "lift" with these issues? My big problem right now, is that my office wants me to commit to four open houses a week, starting this weekend. They even have told me about other people that have had a hysterectomy and gone back to work in three days. HUMMPH!

Idyllic - I am so sorry that you are going through such a rough recovery. Who would of thought that could have been an issue to! My thoughts are with you, and keep us posted on your recovery!

Best wishes to all my Sisters!!!

I worry about the overdoing it too - the pressure from work to get back full-time is just not going to happen! I see the Doctor on Friday for my post-op appointment.

What is with this not being able to sleep thing? It is 11:27, and I need to get to bed!!!

Hello All! Had a TVH on 06/12 along with rectocele and kept both ovaries. Now 2wks post op and am no where near feeling normal. I am so used to bouncing back but this has literaly knocked me on my butt! Lots of pain on right side, thinking it's due to recto. Taking softener and using Konosyl so things are moving. I live on 3rd floor so trips out ar far and few and oh so cherished! All in all I shouldn't complain I guess I have just come to the realization that I'm really not super woman!!

Hey Girls,
Well I was feeling so wonderful 8 days post op that I went to the movies with my husband and daughter, the next day we went to the beach for the day( thought I would be OK -just relaxing in a chair ), and the next day I attended my daughter's 8th grade graduation dinner and ceremony. Since the following day, I've been paying for it - I've had lower abd pain, a little browish colored spotting, wild nightmares and insomnia and the gas pains have returned(? what up with that ?). I called the Dr. yesterday to get more T2's and he was unavailable (worked 40 hrs straight, did a C-section and didn't return to the office to see the note from the sec's about my condition). I asked the sec's if I could get in touch with the Doc who was covering his pts. while I was in the hospital( the one who originally gave me the script I was D/C'd with) and she told me she didn't know where to find him. She recommended taking extra strength Tyl. or T1's(available OTC in Canada) until my Dr. comes back to the office in the AM. What a great medical system we have here! I think if I were an animal I would get better results. Sorry to unload on everybody, especially because it's my own fault that I'm in this predicament.
Well, its back to bed for me. Talk to you later.

Hello Everyone!

So two weeks since my surgery. Everyday gets better and I have come to the realization that now that I am in my 40's I do not bounce back like I used to. I am not lifting and I am walking slow. I went to work yesturday and mostly did paper work. But it took alot out of me. I am home today and really feel the effects of yesturday. Today, I will just relax and take it easy. With the fact that hysterectomies are so common, one does not realize the impact on the body. (at least not me). Listen to your body and take care of yourself until you are better. Eat healthy and be a princess!

I am now at two weeks and I feel I am not doing as much as everyone else. I haven't even left my house. I just came upstairs three days ago. I get tired very quickly. Other than that I stopped taking the meds four days ago. I am also wondering why my post opt is so long away. (not until July 19th) I think the reason I am in slow motion is because my family is going on a trip to Pennsylvania in August and I want to be ready. It is good to hear that everyone is doing well.

Ok, I found you guys about 2 days after I got home, thought I could just read your posts, but I am part of you and part of whats going on with you, so I cannot stand to NOT let you guys respond to me!!! I had a TAH on June 13, and was home on June 14, evening. I had all kinds of hospital staff bother me all night long, and never saw anybody the next day. My DH (just kinda picking up the lingo you guys have been using, assuming this is the husband) stayed the night but went to work the following day. I had a friend stay with me the next day, but she left that sat for their family vac. I had meals brought from the "Circle" at the church through Friday 22nd and my family was here the weekend. Kids (is there an abbrev for them?) at church camp this week so I have been by myself.......

I have been on no meds (except motrin)...and had relatively no problems,(have had the "pulling feeling", and had a horrible laughing fit that ended in tears) but I did end up with a rash on my face that the DR says is a staff infection, prob from the hosp. She gave me antibiodics, and sent me back home (It itches and is about size of quarter, but i refuse to scratch, not seeping yet, just swollen and looks bad)...i walk some, around the house, and find that if i go out....doesnt really matter where, to eat, to movie, i get the "swelly belly" back and get aggravated, so the last 2 days decided to just sit.....im bored to tears, tired of tv, dont want to read, and get frustrated cause im not back to normal!!! Prayers to all of you with serious trouble, but if i can talk on this thing, maybe i can interact with you guys and not feel like such an outcast!!!! Thanx for listening!!!!
