Just had 2 week follow up for my LSH....was given complete clearance to do whatever I feel up to (in Dr.'s words) except sex. He said at least 2 more weeks, but I'm sure I'll give that more time! He said everything is healed up enought to bend over, etc. but I'm not telling anybody at home yet - because I get bad twinges when I reach for things. He said just follow your body's signs - you'll know what you can do. As I've mentioned on here before I have been walking our stairs since day two, doing fine with it....we stopped at the grocery store and did a bit of shopping, and I'm okay, just more sore than normal. What a big big difference between having LSH and open laparotomy, or even C-section recovery!!! I told the Dr. more than once how happy I am that he didn't go ahead and open me up during the LSH - he said they had the open tray ready to go, but never decided to open me because it kept on going okay laproscopically. He showed me the interior abdominal photos before and after removal of "things" and where the adhesions were - it was very interesting. I think I made his day, I was sooo happy and appreciative. Hope all are doing better now Too!

Hi everyone,
I am ten days post op and I got the call last week (but may have forgotten to post) that the pathology came back showing all was benign. I got out this weekend with my DH driving but realized I still can't sit for more than about 30 minutes without paying the price that night and the next day. We had a nice leisuraly dinner last night at a waterfront resturaunt and I am paid the price last night and today. Is anyone else having problems urinating? I am going less frequently that before surgery (at which time I was going several times an hour because one of the fibroids was sitting on my bladder). But, when I go the urge feels like I should (for lack of a better way to describe it) has a gushing burst come out of me. Instead, it's only a trickle. Anyone else in the same situation?

I am still stinkin sore

Hi everyone
I am so glad some of you are healing nicely.

I went into my Drs office today and I am still super sore. I can feel it internaly. My stomach feels like some thing is pulling on the inside. Dr said every thing looked good checked for a UTI and I'm clean just really sore.
So she refilled my pain meds and said take it easy. Some people take more time to recover.
I too have been crying
Oh, ok.

Still in pain, too

Hi Laura,

I, too, am still sore, and not as perky and "recovered" as I thought I would be a this point. I go to the doc Friday for my two week checkup. Hopefully I will then find out exactly what was done to me in addition to the TAH-BSO (I had majoring scarring and adhesions, apparently). I've had a couple of "good days" where I've felt better and had a little more energy, but that was usually sapped by late afternoon. Also, was running a low grade fever for a couple of days, which made me feel like I had the flu on top of everything else! I know I'll change my mind, but right now I'm regretting this surgery. My DH (and friends and coworkers) keep reminding me how miserable I was before with the horrible bleeding that went on for 2 plus weeks at a time. I'm sure, in time, I will be grateful I had this done. But right now...UGH!!

I know, I'm still having a pity party. Just hoping to regain some energy (and lose some of the discomfort) so I can feel a tad "normal".

Hoping to write again when I can share some good news!

Hey! I have had some really good days and some really bad days. I had a tear spell lastnight. I cried myself to sleep. Just a bad day I guess. I can tell I have really over done it lately. I can feel the "pulling" in my belly too. I really think I did too much too soon and now my family is letting me do everything. I wish I had spent the first week in bed whether I wanted to or not. My apt. is not until the 20th. But I may be calling the Dr. for more meds as well. I am looking forward to driving this week but I can't if I am on meds. Good luck to everyone and hope ya feel better soon.

I had my LAVH/BSO & gall bladder removal and adhesions scraped and removed 06/20/2007. Came home 6/21. Felt pretty rotten and abdomen was extremely sore for first 9 days. Had the really horrible gas pains, shoulder pain was excruciating, and the problem urinating as well. Since last Friday, I've felt pretty good. I'm driving now and drove to my mom's today (135 miles one way) and back with no major problems. I'm surprised how much better i'm feeling compared to just a few days ago. It really is just like turning a corner. Hopefully I will continue improving. IT WILL GET BETTER GIRLS! KEEP YOUR FAITH!!
