It is not a ton of bleeding it just looks like the wound has opened a little like the surgical bandage is wearing off. I hate to overreact and bother her at home after hours, i thought i would watch it for the night and call tomorrow.

I am a month post op, and I have a small area that oozes. Sometimes brownish yellow, other times, brown, and last night I twisted funny, and it bled a bit. Scared me to death, but it stopped after I put some gauze on it. Is yours continuously going or does it taper off?

Hi, I had a TAH on the 18th my surgery was late in the afternoon and I didn't get to my room until 9pm. The nurse was trying to get me up to walk at 6am the next morning, I didn't do it. I got up a few hours later and walked. I had an infection and my blood count was off so they kept me an extra day. I convinced him to let me go home today because I couldn't sleep in the hospital. I am glad to be on the otherside! Things were pretty painful the first 24 hours and I am still very sore now but the pain meds are keeping that under control. Hope everyone REST and DRINK water!

I agree, the first 24 hours post op with at TAH is painful. Your pain is really localized at the incision site. The key is to start walking within 24 hours of the surgery. The part that threw me for a loop was the burning sensation! I never knew about that part!

Hi everyone, I had my TVH on June 20th. I came home the following day around 10am. My whole experience was great. I had my cervix and uterus removed only. The hospital stay was great I shared a room with a fellow "sister" which was nice. The staff was wonderful, just did not get much sleep with them taking vitals all the time and checking in on me. After I came home I got snuggled in my own bed and caught up on my rest. I had some pain but nothing major, just like bad period cramps and that is it. Today I got up and felt alot better. I'm up and about walking more, and even folded some laundry!! I feel so silly that I was so scared of getting this done and now that it is over I worried for nothing! I find I spend alot of time urinating though. But I am drinking plenty too. Have not had a BM though, am kinda scared of that. Had to send hubby to get me some Gas X last night and that helped with my gas pains, along with hot tea. All in all, I am glad I got this done. I hope everyone can have a good experience like me.

Lots of Love,

Your question poses perhaps an opportunity to get some pretty controversial answers. I say this because I had a TVH and was encouraged by my doctor to take a bath over taking a shower.

So, here again is a perspective that is going to definitely depend on the doctor and the type of surgery you had. I would imagine a TAH would require not getting the incision wet, at first. But I don't know. So, wow...I guess the best place to get a "right" answewr is from your own doctor.

Had my LAVH on 6/18 can home on 6/20. Have had little to know pain since. I am up and moving, having BM's and urinating with out difficulty. My ovaries are intact and my bladder didn't need repair. I seem to be in the minority. Hope all are healing well.

LSH on June 19th

This is the first day I have felt pretty well. I had horrible gas pains in my back and shoulders and diaphram that no pain meds would help! 10 plus on the pain scale! They sent me home on 6/20 midday and I was screaming at home until midnight, then they started to slowly release me from the grip of twisting pain. My incisions are fine, just a little burning on the right side when I walk too much. Still on meds, will try to reduce tomorrow.
BM today, was very difficult, even with taking Colace since the 20th ...but it feels better to have gone. No bleeding now. Will check in later on - I am tired again.

LSH, kept my one ovary and cervix (had surgery in past for endo). LOTS of adhesions from prior c-sections and some endo. Surgery took almost 3 hours to do laproscopically! Thank goodness for a great doc who didn't open me up again! I really didn't want that.
