Hey grrls: Things are going okay here in WI -- I am counting day 4 days post catheter after 15 days with and am so very happy! Everyday is getting easier to pee -- something that only others of you may understand & appreciate! I was so hung up on that that b.m.'s were no problem; besides, lots of antibiotics always mean loose bowels for me. I have been eating yogurt with live cultures every day to help & it also helps with gas; peppermint tea or candies also helps with the gas pains -- sorry I forgot to post that earlier. I can't even imagine going back to work yet as I get so tired but I am lucky that my pain (except for the bladder biz) has not been bad; I haven't taken any pain meds except for tylenol/ibuprofen/etc. post hospital, but still feel weird riding in a car. Can't imagine a 20 mi. drive to & from with work in between! Another thing, I have been forewarned to not lift more than 15-20 lbs. after this surgery because of the risk of re-injury or additional prolapse. I also am missing workouts, etc., because I have always led an insanely active lifestyle, workouts & bicyling etc. It kills me to think I will have to have the grocery boys load my car, and somebody unload it for me unless I carry the stuff in item by single item! Getting over my anger is the biggest hurdle for me with this surgery...I really feel my body let me down + nobody explained to me that this could happen to me ever before it happened (I mean the vaginal vault prolapse thing )...I have asked drs. about my bladder problems since 1972 when my first baby was born and nobody every suggested that it could be repaired...I could have had it fixed years ago, for heavens sakes. Oh well...it could have been a lot worse, I did not have to worry about cancer or anything like some of you sisters have had to deal with! I know all our days are going to get better soon!

3 week update LSH - Doing well!

Tomorrow will be 3 weeks for me post op - I have been getting out more and more - probably could do more but I worry, even though I've been really great feeling over all. Drove kids to movies today, sat in the movies, and felt "normal" - I told my husband that it is scary how normal I feel sometimes, so fast. But girls, I gotta tell you, I think part of that is that I can't feel everything. This is my 4th surgery and I know I have nerve damage - they will tell you it will come back, mine never did from the c-sections and I'm not sure that it didn't get worse with this one - the only bonus is the lack of pain.....in the netherregions and also abdominally. I get a few twinges on the right side, but they are far between. Sooo - I take how good I feel with a bit of a grain of salt. I also had my first alchohol (wine) this weekend and went a bit overboard and paid for that! I was worn out all the rest of the weekend - I think I'll hold off again on that for a while - gas also rears its head from time to time, but it is very manageable, but foods that didn't bother me before, have been now. But I keep trying. I really enjoy reading the entries from everyone - hang in there!

Week 3

Hi there;

I was doing so well until last night when I was having sharp pains on my right side. I went to the Doctors today they think I may have an ovarian cyst. It's nice to know what it might be but It sure does not help with the pain.

Has anyone else been thru this?

Off of pain meds, thank goodness for that. Although at times, I wish I still was.

Hi Marva,

You are the only other one I have noticed that had a cath in as long as I did with also bladder repair. Tomorrow will be one week that I have had the cath out and I still get spasms and pains. If I don't reapply the patch and take 1/2 Valium every day it becomes unbearable. I talked to my doc today and she said that is normal but I forgot to ask how long I should expect to feel these. Have you been told this or know how long it may stick around?

Hi Red,
This is my first time on here, so be gentle. ok? I too had laparoscopic hyst. Some days are better, every day it seems like something is there to remind me... I have been having dizzyness, nausea, and running to the BR alot. No appetite, but gained since surgery. I have ALOT of cramping still, and can't understand cause everthing is gone except my right ovary.
My belly button really hurt and still does. I try to keep my waistbands below, and elastic, but not tight. My surgery was 6/20.

Hello, new to this forum. I read this forum a great deal before my surgery and it helped with alot of emotions I was dealing with. I had an abdominal hysterectomy on June 20/07 to remove a massive fibrioid, doc said it was the second largest he had ever removed, just over 15 pounds! To say the least I feel lighter than air and have not been too bad with recovery (except for the gas!) wow.

I get these strange pains right around my hip bones which bothers me and are nowhere near the incision. Anyone else with this? Everything else has gone well, my staples were removed from my incision on day 4 and the steri strips just came off last week, everything seems to be healing nicely.

So thanks for all your advice and postings, you have no idea how many like me must read this site for support, it is a wealth of information!

2wk 1day post op

For the first two weeks I was sure I was dying. The pain in my back and abdomen was terrible and used a full bottle of pain pills. I thought I was having normal BM but now don't think so. Went back to a basic liquid diet for about 3 days. Yeasterday my DS (has his learners permit to drive ) took us to McDonalds to eat and feed the kids. I caved and had grilled chicken. Did not even get out of the place and had to go. Lord have mercy my back and tummy felt so much better. I almost think that all the drugs and chemicals they use during surgery had not been cleared out of my boby. It is like the ugh I feel like sh** switch turned off and the Wow this is getting gooooood switch turned on. I am still tired and run out of steam quickly, but way better. I bought a womans night laxative to take just to keep me regular and feeling decent. Going to make a purse with my DS's girlfriend tomorrow.

Oh one thing dont forget to not pick up the dog, that still hurts. Picked up my welsh corgi and thought crap this hurts and put her right back down. She looked at me like what is the deal mom no snuggle time? Also watch the sneezing I have found that it not only hurts, but I leak if I sneeze to many times in a row.
Well back to bed not many more days of sleeping in. Take care all.
