Carol;
so glad to hear you are doing well just be careful when you go back to work. I go for my first checkup July 24. I know I am not ready to return to work yet and am nervous about it. My job consists of a lot standing all day and a lot of walking and heavy lifting and very fast paced. I am hoping my dr. gives me a little more time. Just can't get my energy back, in fact it seems worse now than it was. Best wishes to you
Paula

Hi everyone!
I haven't posted in a few days... just finished reading some of the prior postings... sorry to hear that some of us are having rough times (myself included) but happy to hear others' successes!

I don't feel like I am recovery like I should. I keep telling myself that I've had a LOT of repairs done on top of the TVH, but I just feel like I should be doing better. This is very frustrating! Even with the sleep meds, I'm still not sleeping well. <sigh> I'm sure that has a lot to do with it also.

I don't remember who wrote it, but I'm glad I read it... about the bladder having been through the ringer and needs time to heal before it gets back to "normal"... that reassured me a little. I was diagnosed w/overactive bladder before my hyster, but the doc said the repairs should fix it... I was getting frustrated that it hadn't seem to fix it yet, but now a little relieved and trying to be patient for it to heal all the way.

Amazingly, still in quite a bit of pain... thought it would be gone by now! I often feel like I am taking two steps forward and three back!

Anyhow, I don't see the doc again till Jul 30th for my follow-up... I'm seriously hoping he will give me another couple of weeks off because I am no where near ready to go back to work. My job is very demaning with minimum 12 hour days... I just don't think I can handle it... I can't even get through 8 hours of sitting up at home! I don't think my work would follow the half-day idea too well. We'll see what happens.

I hope everyone is doing better today and send big s to all my sisters out there!

Good morning all...

So glad that I'm not alone in feeling like I am never going to be able to go back to work on Aug 1st.

I go to see my Dr. on July 25th for my 6 week post-op, but if I calculate it properly it is only my 5th week. I feel like I've run into a brick wall. I no longer have any energy, I'm tired all the time, and my tummy is starting to hurt again. Little burning stabbing pains in my left side.

I don't sleep through the night, I'm hot, I'm cold, I realized that pillows retain heat! So does DH - he's a furnace. I'm always looking for a cold spot in the sheets. Then all of a sudden, I need the blankets up to my neck but not for long.... there off again!

Has anyone's memory dissapeared? I tried to buy one the other day, but couldn't find one to purchase

shellybun,

if you DO find one for sale, let me know where... 'cause I think I lost mine and need to replace it too

I'm right there with you on the sheets/blanket stuff! I'm that way all day & night long... very aggravating!

Try a Chillow pillow, they sell them here.

I bought it before the operation and it is wonderful - you should get it if you can ...I think it will help the hot bed sydrome

I have big memory troubles - I can even be typing a web address and forget what I am doing totally - very frustrating - I find I have to write more notes to myself for everything! I think something about anesthesia really messes up your mind and I'm not sure it is temporary!

shellybun.....I can relate to your being hot one minute and cold the next. I'm having the same problem. Can't sleep more then 1-2 hours at a time at night because of it. Wondering if i'll ever sleep through the night again. As for the memory, i lost my memory years ago. If i lose anymore of it now, i'll have to go around with the same thing preschoolers wear the first week of school....Hi, my name is Ellen...if lost, return me to........*L*.

Hi,
I am at 31/2 weeks out from my hysterectomy. I had a vaginal surgery with prolapse repair and still have my ovaries. I'm up to walking a mile and a half a day. Driving for short periods. Most days I seem to be cruising through this and then I have a problem with my bowels and constipation, which scares me to death. I am taking colace, drinking tons. eating fiber and fruit and veggies, drinking prune juice. Most days are fine, but if I back off on some of it, because of gas, everthing comes to a screeching halt. I have used the warm prune juice with ginger ale trick which seems to work.

My Doc said because I kept my cervix I could experience mini periods..well got one yesterday and I must say I was a little dissapointed! But it was just minor spotting and only lasted part of the day, way less in comparison to the monster cycles I was getting before!

I was getting weepy and down beforehand so I guess I will continue with the PMS part of all of this, my husband will be sad to hear that!

Oh and I asked for an extra week before returning to work and they said yes, I'm so relieved! It's taken major pressure off my mind, especially dealing with this shoulder injury

Hi everyone

I seem to be having an off day today which is disappointing because I have felt so good lately. I woke up with tons of energy and although I barely did much, I did do a few light household chores, and I'm paying for it now. My abdomen "inside" is burning with intermittent shots of pain. Ugh, why? I did a few new things today but I didn't do anything that isn't on the "ok to do" list. I was going to try to drive my DH to doccer practice tonight but now I don't know if I dare.

I don't have the hot/cold thing going on but these past few days I have had a hard time going to sleep. Two hours before bed I'm yawning and trying to stay awake then when I get comfy my mind starts wandering. My doc gave me sleeping pills but I hesitate to use them. Anyone else having this problem?

I agree with whoever that was who said it feels like two steps forward and three back. Yesterday was my 4 week milestone and I felt great but today...

Do you think if we all buy some memory together we'll get a group discount?

Have a great Wednesday ladies.
