Well, I just got back from the military doc, he said he agrees with my civilian surgeon and also said he had no problem if I needed two more weeks on top of the two I was just given... I'll wait and see how these go... so at the moment I don't go back to work until Aug 20th.

I can't beleive how much I'm hurting just from walking around a little at the hospital today!

I hope everyone is having a great day!

Today is my five week mark. As I said in an earlier post, I set myself back this week by overdoing it.

I did go to work for 3 1/2 hours yesterday and 5 1/2 hours today at one of my part time jobs (office work). My doc hasn't cleared me yet but since it's only sitting behind a desk, I didn't think it would hurt.

Last night right from work I had to go to a networking function for my mortgage/sales job. By the time I came home, I was very sore in the belly and my feet were swollen. Plus I had a horrible migrane, but that could be from me weaning off the Effexor.

Anyway, as a result of all the new activity I am now having to ice my belly twice a day to help with the cramping and twinges of discomfort that started this week. I also have had to take Tylenol PM the past few nights because of the pain. I didn't even have to ice the belly this much after surgery!! I'm hoping it's just a sign of stiches or nerves or healing.

I plan to rest up this weekend to try and make up for whatever I undid this week.

Dottie, I am sorry to hear you've gotten set back, I hope you rest up a lot this weekend. Desiree, you poor thing, you sure do deserve some advancement in your recovery- you have been through the ringer.
Janine, I am not in the middle of winter, but I don't like the idea of icing my belly either.

I am just trying to stick with some activity, but I do feel like I do everything in slow motion. I haven't done long walks today or yesterday becuase my belly just didn't seem to want the motion. Today I have a pain on the left side of my incision.
In fact I get lots of little pains and aches, but I try to distract myself.

When I start to think about going back to work next Wednesday, I just assume I'll feel a little better by then and I will take it easy. I'll be operating at about 60% of my normal fast-paced multi-tasking pace.

This is quite humbling. Oh well!!!!

It is quite humbling!!!! Are you going back to work full time? I can't imagine going straight back to regular hours... when I go back my doc said it's best to do two weeks of half days because our bodies get used to being so inactive. I wish you tons of luck and hope you have a good weekend. Try to take it easy when you go back to work.

You made a comment about me been through a ringer... that's pretty much what I feel like too! Not fun.

But I really am still glad I had the surgery...

Oh Ladies...........one more thing.

A little bit of insight about going back to work. Mentally, I am not the girl I was before the surgery. I went in sharp as a tack and came out with a fuzzy wuzzy brain. Not sure if it is still anestesia in my system since I had two does withing 10 days of one another or if it's the surgical menopause. Either way, it's frustrating!!

Good morning Ladies,

I guess were all feeling about the same. I am having the same concerns about my brain. I hope it doesn't stay this way, or how will I run a business? I am hoping that when I go back to work I will just focus & get on with it & forget about having the time to worry?
I suppose it'll just work out well and before we know it we will have forgotten all the bad bits of recovery & feel like new women! With no pain, no bleeding etc.etc.
My I'm feeling positive today, how are everyone elses mood swings?

Note to ladies with brain warp: I thought i was the only one--glad to know i'm not---first i thought the anesthesiologist just gave me too much & it's taking forever to wear off---but it sounds like this is normal i guess---things are slowly getting better but not there yet. I think my DH is having the same problem! We BOTH forgot our 32nd wedding anniversary-until i "remembered" it the next day--something i never forget! Blame it on brain warp~~~

Happy Saturday evening all~
I have been feeling a little better the last couple of days and I guess like so many of you (You'd think I would have taken the warning) I think I pulled something. Actually, all day I have had a crampy feeling...remember the feeling when you new you were going to start your period but it just hadnt fully started...that little pre cramp cramping? That's what I had, on the left side, just like before. I thought maybe it was "phantom" cramps, but that should have happend around the 18th ( I was rarely ever late and only have my cervix left). Then I thought I may have eaten something bad. As the cramps got worse, I decided to take an ibuprofin. Now mind you, my entire recovery, I have only had pain on the right side, which was a relief from the 25 years of left side pain. After taking the ibuprofin and resting, I got up to get more water and it felt like I pulled a muscle from my incision up to just the left of my belly button. Could it be from using my left side so much and babying the right for the past 6 weeks? I havent really done anything different that I can think of to cause the pain. Also, I have been feeling nauseous , making it hard for me to swallow.
I thought I was getting better....hope all of you are doing better than me.
take care

checking in...

Hi everybody: has been a long time since I posted; things are going okay for me, still get so tired and don't do too much, my DH is still doing most of the housework; I see my dr. Monday for 6wk post-op checkup & hope he tells me that I can begin exercising more & maybe vacuuming, etc. I know he said 12 weeks for some of the stuff, but need clarification...
I am so grateful to not have to worry about going back to work until school starts after labor day -- and then I'm usually not called to sub until a couple of weeks have gone by. I cannot imagine facing work yet...amazing that some of you are bacl working already!
I have the 'brain drain' thing on and off, too. I think it has to do with how busy our bodies are with healing and just being tired and worn out from the huge surgically induced shock to our systems...who knows ? I had planned to keep up with my Spanish review this summer but I can barely read English, much less Spanish! Hope that my brain will regenerate soon...
That & the 'swelly belly'! I begin to doubt that I will ever be able to wear jeans again; have invested in elastic waist pants because it doesn't seem like this condition is going to go away soon!
Meanwhile, I don't have any pain, really; just a little twinge now and then of something unusual feeling inside that is different than before...
My newest battle is the weight gain! Since I am doing little or nothing and working on eating less, it is hard to watch the scale start creeping up on me!
Glad to see everybody is still hanging in there!...marva637

Hi All!

I haven't posted in a long while, either, but have been keeping up with everyone's progress on the board. I too have felt drained, lethargic, and just plain "blah" over the past 5 weeks. On the days when I actually had some energy, I was sapped by mid-day. Pain in my belly didn't help much, either. I've also been fighting sinus problems/vertigo over the past 4 weeks due to a sinus infection and all of the thunderstorms we've been having here (I'm a human barometer, apparently). It hasn't been a joyride, apparently, for any of us.

I have decided to go back to work Monday, as I really think it will help me in recovery. I am sooo sick of this house, and not being able to really do anything around here. I think getting back into my work routine will help me bounce back. I could be dead wrong, and regret it by 10 am Monday, but I'm going to give it a shot. My bosses are very understanding, so I know if I have to work part time next week, they won't have a problem with it. We shall see...

I hope all of you are feeling better, and believe me, I understand the "brain drain"!!
