meds

What other kind of pain meds are you ladies taking, and what have you found to work the best? Kim, I know you do accupuncture, wanted to try that but my insurance won't pay for it. I am currenly taking Lexapro (SSRI) Xanax (tranqulizer) for sleep and Vicoprofen 3x day for pain. Problem is, my MD won't give me narcotic, so I get if from the MD at the chiro's office. He is getting leary of giving it to me, as he is afraid that long-term use will cause more damage than good, but it is the only thing that helps, and I use it everyday, to keep the pain level even so I can work for a living. What do these doctor's expect us to do? Can't work in constant pain, and can't not work because I need the $ and insurance!

What type of pain meds?

I use the duragesic patch and darvocet N100 for breakthrough pain. Yes, I do accupuncture also. You may want to check again with your insurance company. There have been some new rules placed in Texas regarding accupuncture and insurance, there may also have been some changes in your area. It's worth checking into.

I was just recently in the ER with a small bowel blockage and the doc that saw me in the hospital wants me to discontinue the darvocet. I need to make an appt with a GI doc as I really need the meds for the breakthru pain.

I can relate to the what do we do? I've been working from home a few days since I was in the ER and dh made the comment to me that I seem more relaxed and not in so much pain when I am home. Sigh. I need a telecommuting type job!

What type of pain meds?

I use Tramadol daily for pelvic and fibromyalgia pain. It helps some but not totally. I am trying to get into a chronic pain program offered where I live but there is apparently a long waiting list. I have an orientation into the program next week. I am also doing biofeedback and deep breathing with a therapist. I only work part time but without pain meds it would be impossible at this point.

What type of pain meds?

I take vicodin 4x daily and percocet at night, I wouldnt be functioning at all without it. Darvocet didnt work for me and tramadol made me anxious. It doesnt take all the pain away, but you can still have some life.
