Sage - Are you sure it is yeast? It could be a different kind of infection/irritant. Your Dr. should be able to see if they swab and use a microscope? I had treated what I thought was yeast (had a million of those so I thought I knew) and after months finally had it swabbed and it wasn't yeast.

My 4 good:
I can walk without waddling, leaning, etc. at a pretty normal rate
It doesn't hurt to sneeze any more, or blow my nose
I've gotten out a few times including a date night with hubby last night (saw Hairspray at the movies - you gotta see it, it's hysterical and really well done)
I have a LOT more energy than I did pre-op, even with the fatigue.

My 4 not-so-good
I am still not driving. When I turn around to help my son with something behind me, it hurts, so I don't trust myself to drive yet
None of my clothes fit me. I am wearing stretchy leggings and they look awful with my shirts.
I still have a sunburned feeling on my belly and weird aches on my lower side
I'm having a hard time sleeping still - if I nap it's harder but if I don't nap I feel like I am going to fall over tired (and crabby) in the afternoon

Hi all-
I've got a question. I overdid things last week and really took it easy this weekend because I was feeling so crummy. By Sunday I was feeling quite a bit better, though still tired. Anyway, I was sitting on the couch and I started to get a sharp, stabbing, tearing pain in my left side(my left was the worst from the surgery), kind of low in the groin area. It didn't feel like anything I had ever felt before, so I'm not sure what was going on. Originally, I blew it off as muscle spasms or bladder spasms because I had overdone so much last week. Now, I'm not so sure. During the night when I got up to use the rest room(while walking down the hall) I felt, I don't really know how to describe it, I guess a kind of pop in the same area. Now this morning the sharp pains are gone but it is still throbbing with occassional stabs. I have a really bad migraine too and I feel like I did when I started the weekend before I got all of that rest. I was just wondering if anyone else experienced anything like this or if they had any idea what it could be. I mean I'm on heavy duty pain killers regularly for other conditions(lortab/hydrocodone) and even that didn't help the pain last night. I was in tears. Today it's tolerable though, but not I am having leg cramps. I just wasn't sure because the weather here has been weird and I have a lot of other conditions that cause pain, but I have never had groin pain like this before. I'm glad so many are doing so well. It gives me hope! As for the rest of us, Our time too shall come. Anyway take care to all and don't overdo. Also thanks for any info. anyone might have.

Maybe you should post in the post-op general forum. I haven't had that but I'd check with others and maybe call your Dr. if it gets worse? And take your temp?

I'd definately call the doctor's office and have a good talk with the nurse. My doctor's nurse has been just fantastic over the last few months--I can call and ask her anything--and if she doesn't know she checks with the doctor. There have even been times she has just listened to my complaints, even when she couldn't offer any new suggestions.

Tomorrow I have my first post-op appointment so the doctor will tell me how I'm really recovering but here are my observations (more good than bad!):

The pain is manageable with occassional Motrin. Thankfully I've was able to get off the narcotics a few days after I got home from the hospital.

My appetite is good (maybe too good!!) but still having problems with constipation no matter how much water I drink and how much fiber I eat.

My mood is optimistic. I know I made the right choice taking the aggressive surgical route. I am happy to be alive and cancer-free! (FYI: I am on HRT.)

I have been doing a bit more around the house (without over-doing it) and it feels good to be productive again. I want to start getting out more but I need clearance from the doctor before I can drive.

My energy level is good and I've learned to pace myself. I can actually stay awake until 11 pm!

I take a shower every morning, put on make-up, and style my hair. I feel better when I look better. Only wish I could get out of these baggy, draw-string, stretchy clothes. My belly is still large and jiggly.

My friends and family have been wonderfully supportive to me, especially my DH and DD. I love them so much.

I pray my recovery continues on this uneventful course. I am looking forward to a family vacation at the beach in August and returning to work, when the schools start here, in September.

I wish everyone smooth recoveries and happy thoughts.

Best wishes.

Hoorah, I'm 4 weeks post-op today!

My goods
BMs are normal.
I can walk a mile now.
My family has been wonderful.
After I saw the pathology report, I knew I made the right decision.

My not-so-goods
I'm tired of being tired.
I can't imagine trying to go back to work yet.
I'm too tired to think of any others!

I'm also 4 weeks out and stressing about returning to work on the 6th August!

My not so good list:
-Exhaustion from lots of little things but not getting lots of sleep.
-Still having trouble with BMs, dreadful gas and pain in the backside! (what did they do to me?!LOL) Worried about coping with this back at work - does it get better?
-DH and DS think I'm fine now because "You're looking so much better"(compared to what?)
-Worrying about driving to work and lasting the whole day

My good list
-Drove for the first time yesterday (Not far but at least I haven't forgotten how!)
-Off most pain medication except for the occasional panadol
-Feel like my brain has cleared a lot
-Able to cook some decent meals again
-Actually did some shopping by myself yesterday (Also forgot about how I was going to get it to the car)
-Am able to walk a lot further and have started tackling some of the hills around our place
-Have done a little light gardening
-Am going to tackle some sewing today
-DD has announced her engagement - how exciting - we have a wedding to plan and look forward to being well enough to cope with and enjoy all it involves in the coming months!!

Great to see that my good list is now longer than my not so good! I keep telling myself that they don't give you 6 weeks off for a holiday but because you really need it to heal properly.

Hope you're all gradually starting to feel better
Best wishes

Hey all-
I'm having that same severe pain tonight. I've had UTI's, kidney infections and bladder infections many times and this just feels different. Anyway, at least it's not as severe as last night. I'm supposed to go see my mom in the nursing home tomorrow(it's an hour drive each way and then I usually sit with her for about an hour). I haven't seen her in almost a month, I've never gone that long!!! I feel terrible about what I'm doing to her but I also feel physically terrible myself. My blood sugar is also way up. My temp. is the same as it has been since surgery-low grade temp. anywhere from 99.5 to 100.8. I am totally exhausted but having a lot of trouble sleeping, even with all the meds. I take! I'm supposed to see mom in the am with my sister, but am thinking of maybe calling sis and telling her I'll just go see mom later in the afternoon by myself. Afternoons are usually better for me. Anyway, better go.
By the way Helen(Rahelade) congratulations on your daughter's wedding! How exciting!! I'm happy for you and take care not to overdo with the wedding plans!
Best Wishes,

Hello ladies! Today I am 4 weeks post-op and have felt good most of the day. However, I cleaned the bathroom (and soon realized it was a mistake) I felt pressure in my abdomen area immediately. I did rest for a little while but then washed dishes and did a load a laundry (I did not lift anything) I also drove to my mother's house which is about 10 minutes away. I realized I still wasn't quite ready to drive full time because I had to make a quick turn and felt something in the lower left side of my incision (the left side is still giving me a fit sometimes) so now I am getting ready to take my pain meds and pray I get a good nights sleep! I am scheduled to return to work on Aug 6 also, but I am not comfortable with that date because my job is stressful and fast-paced. and I know I am not physically ready to return ..will the Dr understand?

My week 4 starts with my dh still driving me to work... I'm fine the first half of the day, but after lunch.. I think eating gets my swelly belly cramping or something because I feel terrible after lunch.. Wednesday I start driving and I'm dreading it because when he picks me up now, even an hour early, I'm so physically beat to death I can't even imagine driving for an hour in traffic home..

4 goods:
take a bath now! yeah!
sleep at night finally..
not having night sweats anymore..
got my appetite back but that may be a bad!

4 not so goods:
still uncomfortable to roll over in bed...
no sex for 2 more weeks...
after sitting at my desk all morning, I get stiff and my sweely belly comes back...
can't walk my dog and still afraid of treadmill...

happy healing!
