I'm really nervous about going back and carrying those trays again. Anybody else out there a server and had to carry heavy trays after a TAH?
I share your anxiety, altho I don't have a job that requires lifting. I had a TAH/BSO for fibroids only on June 28 and I'm 56 but otherwise in good health and my doc still says no lifting anything over 15 pounds until 6 weeks post-op. I bet your trays are over that! Well, I'd just be real careful and ease back into it if you can. Also, I would think that HOW you lift would be important. Try to bend from the knees and lift smoothly. Could you possibly divide things up and make 2 trips instead of one heavy trip? I am so worried about getting adhesions that I'd try to put it off if you possibly can. If you tell your doc you're worried would s/he maybe grant you another 2 weeks?

OK, I'm replying to my own post!! Just wanted to note that I sort of got the dates mixed up in bellflower's post. It looks like you'll be 8 weeks post-op when your doc said you could go back to work. From hearing from other friends who've had TAH, you probably will be OK. They say there's another huge improvement pretty much right at 6 weeks. They can lift OK, but they still don't have their normal stamina.

Hi ladies. This might be TMI for some, but I bet a lot of you are curious about sex after your hysterectomy, so here I go. DH and I decided to fool around a bit (doc gave me the OK on Monday), and it went great. I was really nervous about hurting something and I was wondering if things would still work the same. With my anxiety and my DH's concern that he would hurt me, it's a miracle, but something truly Outstanding (focus on the O) happened. Happy to report that things are still working.

Hi everyone. I, too, am feeling better than before! I did overdo it on Wed. and paid the price Thursday, I guess I am a slow learner!

I had a great 'find' today in my closet - my old maternity clothes. There are 'granny panties' and stretchy skirts and shorts that don't have buttons or zippers so I feel like I have a whole new wardrobe. You can't tell they are maternity since they are just full of lycra or something, so I feel like I can go out in public with confidence now. If you still have a box like I did, go look, or if you need to go shopping, check out the maternity department. LOL

I am still not sleeping well at ALL tho I am down to only 1 nap. Taking Tylenol PM but it's so hard to wake up and get going in the morning. I usually don't make it downstairs till noon.

I am feeling a weird pressure in my groin area kinda to the right of my pelvic bone where the leg meets?? It almost feels like a vericose vein but I don't see any kind of protrusion or anything. It's really annoying.

No other complaints, everything is feeling pretty normal otherwise! Yay!

I felt a bulge (bump or lump, squishy) to the right of my bikini cut, almost in the groin area and called the surgeon and she said it was probably "pooled fluid", which my sis-in-law nurse interpreted as a hematoma, which the body will resorb in a few weeks. The doc said if it doesn't hurt, doesn't get any bigger and seems to get smaller after applying a low heating pad 2 x a day for 30 min. each time, then don't worry. I couldn't face driving into the city for a check that day and the doc didn't seem too worried. So I used the heating pad for 3 or 4 days. It did get smaller. On my next check-up a week later, she said, yup, just normal healing. It's a lot smaller now, 2 weeks from when I found it. I was a little worried about it and if it's bugging you, go see about it. Yours may be different from mine.

Goods:
1. I now know for certain the surgery was for the best, no more doubts.
2. Will never have to plan my life around AF the ole witch ever again!!
3. Sleeping pretty well, just wish I could sleep on my side again.
4. No major surgical menopause symptons as of yet, YIPEEE!!

Bads:
1. My facial skin is getting dry, normally I'm very oily.
2. My belly still hurts a bit.
3. Standing for more than 15 minutes at one time makes me sore. Went with DH to do groceries the other day and found out I'm not up to standing for an hr yet.
4. Back and hips are just now getting achy, yuck!
Just a thought, have you tried a pillow between your knees and under the side of your tummy. I have been sleeping on my side almost from day one like that. It takes all the pressure off.
Also, instead of standing still try the "elephant rock" move from 1 foot to the other. Again, i find it takes the pressure off and I can stand a lot longer than otherwise.
I have also started doing some very gentle stretches, they are somewhere on this website under post-op and checkpoints. It relieves the pressure on the back and hips.

Speedy Healing

Ugh...had to go to the doctor yesterday. My dr is out of town so saw a different one who had some interesting ideas about how to treat my yeast infection which then we come to find, it is NOT yeast. So now I am taking a new antibiotic and still taking yeast infection stuff until the cultures come back...what else causes itching? This is crazy. Hopefully when my dr. returns and the culture comes back I will get to the bottom of this. :-(

Hi Sage627,
Yikes infection, maybe yeast? Whenever my daughter and I are taking antibiotics we always eat yogurt and take acidipholus (sp?) our Sinus Dr. told us this info. Let me tell you it sure helps. Can we still get yeast infections even after everything is gone? Geez louise....

Feel better .....

Sage I think I posted a while back (maybe it was to someone else) to have it cultured and make sure it is yeast because I had what I thought was yeast that wouldn't go away and it turned out it was a bacterial infection instead. We figured it was from a new soap I was using even tho I never put it inside me I guess it got in there somehow and my body didnt like it! LOL It was awful because the creams etc made it burn WORSE. You should be feeling better soon with the new anti-bs.

Yippee, I'm 4 weeks post-op, my week 6 graduation is in sight and I'm definitely feeling better every day.

Hmmm. . . W00ts and Owies are:

W00t!
1. I can drive again
2. No more meds
3. I've rediscovered the joys of wearing skirts and dresses
4. (TMI) Ditto the joys of going panty-less

Owie!
1. Abdomen still very sensitive to touch
2. BF hasn't: visited me, sent me flowers, or sent me a card since surgery
3. Skin on my mid-section/abdomen is ultra dry
4. Still have to be careful while shopping or out for fun not to overdue things or I get tired and very sore.

Continued happy healing to all my hystersisters!
