What is a prolapsed uterus?

What can cause a prolapsed uterus? I have read different posts and people mentioning about uteruses falling or bladders? I have two large fibroids and treating them conservatively, but this makes me think the fibroids are heavy and will make my uterus collapse or something? Am I being silly?

prolapse

Mine seems to have been caused by 4 pregnancies, weakened ligaments, problems with constipation...and being 48 didn't help with the gravity situation.

What is a prolapsed uterus?

Hi Audrey~ Love that name!
No not silly! That is something we think about. Fibroids can not cause uterine prolapse unless you also have weakened pelvic floor muslces to begin with. Then the extra weight from them(depending on size) can make it harder for the weakened muscles to function properly.. At least that is what I was told. When I discovered my prolapse, I asked the dr if that could be the cause.
If you start doing self-examines every month in the same position, you will be able to see whether or not you are prolapsing. My prolapse was hard for the drs to find because they could not feel it until I stood up or was sitting. So it took me forever to find a dr that would listen! I didn't know you couldn't feel it laying down! Some women can-I could not.
Good luck on your choice of treatments! I wish you well. God Bless

Hello

Look up the post from jeannez on the question of Rectocele?

TeresaC answered her by directing her to a medical site. I just tried it and if you look up the topic of pelvic relaxation you will find out all the info you want about uterine prolapse. You could do a general search also on either Uterine prolapse or Pelvic relaxation and you will find some good info. Hope this helps.

What is a prolapsed uterus?

Hi Audrey

I always say that the only stupid question is the one that didn't get asked

I had my hyst, last December, for Fibroids and rectocele. In my case, the rectocele was mostly caused by tissues weakened during the vaginal delivery of two very large babies (both over 9 pounds). The fact that I am overweight, that I had a very large fibroid and that I was 44 most likely aggravated the condition.

If you want more information on prolapse, you can visit this web-site specializing in prolapse:

Wishing you the best of luck in your quest for answers.
