Really love the books but looking forward to the movie also just to see how they handle some of the issues that come up in the 5th book.
I just finished rereading all 5 books and now working on the 6th one before the 7th arrives on July 21st. I'm spending my summer vacation reading, rereading and just trying to stay dry here in the midwest...
Hope all are well.

Amra

Just like you, I re-read the first 5 books and
am now at the end of the 6th!!!
I definitely prefer the books (all those cuts and
changes really bother me) but will certainly
go and see the movie too. It's a must for
Potter's fans

So we're almost at the end of this long adventure....
Happy waiting!

I first declared I didn't want to see it because I didn't think I could bear to see Umbridge torturing Harry. But the feedback has been so good, I think I'll go after all.

I haven't made it to see the 5th movie yet, life suddenly got in the way. DH got hurt at work and hasn't really felt like getting out much, and since we've gone to see all 4 movies together I can't fathom going without him. So as soon as he's feeling up to it we'll go. I just finished rereading the 6th book and looking forward to the 7th in 5 days. I will be at the bookstore at 12 am to pick my copy up. Can't wait can't wait can't wait.

Amra,

best wishes to DH from me too.

I saw the movie a few days ago and would like to tell you something about it.
First of all I have to say that I always prefer the books:
mrs Rowling is a great writer and can go deeply into the
characters' psychology. Movies obviously can't.
But I'm sure you already know that
However the atmosphere in this last movie is darker,
closer to the books than before.
It seems to me that they really tried to put into this film as
much as they could from the book but, as always, they
hadn't time enough to do it properly, so almost every scene seems to be cut.
The movie goes very quickly, very fast-paced and they
also changed a few things that didn't need to be changed
(Hermione and Grawp for example).
I hate when they modify what JKR wrote!
But I don't want to sound too negative.
Positive aspects: excellent special effects, great actors and
actresses as always: I particularly appreciated Evanna Lynch
who plays a simply perfect Luna and Imelda Staunton,
Dolores Umbridge, who doesn't look like a toad but who is such a talented
actress that I ended up loving her too.
Daniel's acting is getting better too, I think.
Snape and Ron were on the screen a few minutes only,
I was disappointed by that.
Oh I could go on forever

Different opinions are welcome!

Well I made the mistake of re-reading the book just before seeing the movie! Please do not suggest to anyone that the do that! My son and I sat through the movie hitting each other every time something was missing or they changed something. My hubby, who read the book when it came out, sat blissfully through not remembering that anything had changed and he loved it!
Of course they can't include everything. I don't think they had to change things though.
All in all it was entertaining - but re-reading the book just before totally ruined it for us.
