Captain Crunch. We had our surgeries the same day. I have been recovering great but have had cramps this weekend and I wondered too if it might be that my body is used to having a period and that is why I had cramps. I kept my ovaries. Had an abd. hyst. and cervix removed.

Hi. This is my first time posting on this or any site, so please be patient. I had a hysterectomy and "the works", uretha, bladder, cervix, and rectum repair on July 9. I had a really bad experience with the anethesia and some blood pressure problems. The first two weeks are all a blur. Every day I am feeling better, but I am concerned about my post op visit last week.
My surgeon gave me the okay to do anything I wanted, anything including sexual relations, except no lifting anything over 10 pounds and no straining. This absolutely made no sense to me, I felt this was all too soon and called the office the following day. You see, I wanted to go the gym, workout, no resistance training or weights. The nurse said absolutely not! Now, after reading the checkpoints, I am totally confused and I am putting off any type of intimacy with my husband. This whole thing is making me so depressed and confused. I feel if I call the office again they will think I am some sort of nut.
Can anyone help me?

We can all help!!

Good morning. Had similiar procedures as yourself and can feel your anxiousness. I was told the exact opposite as you and my doctor has pretty much said the same things as outlined in this website. Please.... don't feel stupid about calling the doctor. Thats what they are there for and better to know the info. now than when its too late. Just on a personal note...I have done NOTHING..except an occasional trip to the pharmacy etc. This week is 5 weeks post op and starting to do a FEW things. I feel great with an occasional bout of tiredness. Let me know how you progress and please call the doctor.

Okay, my brain is really dead. Is it really five weeks since surgery for we July 9 ladies? I had 4 in my head. I mean, it's four weeks today that we had our surgery, right? I get so confused counting post op days/weeks. I'm thinking I'm four weeks post op and tomorrow/Tuesday is the new day of the beginning of my 5th week. Help!

I went to work for 2.5 hours. I pushed and pulled on SO many doors. And I shoved my body into the elevator door 'as usual' to hold it for a colleague. My body / abdominal area feels it, definitely. It's a heavy feeling and there are 'knots' in some areas. So I quit and came back home...(well, dragged a bunch of clothes/school items for a kindergartner I'm sponsoring...sure the bag was less than 20 lbs but cumbersome) and pumped gas on the way.... so now I'm sitting at my buddy the home computer. Sigh. I want to be normal again, but it's just going to take a long time, I fear. Schools is not going to be easy at all. I already know it. However, the glass half empty seems to spur me on, so I shall conquer it all, step by step. Good think I've been practicing my steps.

Bopper, we've got longer trails around here, too, but I've not been too keen on going to them. I like to be around home 'in case'......... the doctor warned me to stay close to home, even though he seems to let me do as much as I want to do. I'm excited to try a bike Wednesday, but I think pulling my leg over the seat to 'get on' is going to be more than a literal stretch!

Good healing to you all this Monday, sisters. E.

SaraJean: i agree we are four week anniversaries, but someone on the regular post op site posted that this is week five. I got soooo confused and wrote a crazy post about counting and trying to figure out is today the fourth week anniversary or fifth week? I thought it was four weeks today that i was in the castle.

I feel for you at work. I went for about 2.5 hours and I'm dying in the abdominal area w/a sense of heaviness and 'knots'...........pushing and pulling on heavy office/classroom doors...........trying to make sense out of my messes of files as i prep for 8/22 when we all report back and 8/26 when classes all begin. Yikes.

Debbiefej: the cramps can also be gassiness/reminders to take it easy. I had a bunch of cramps too and haven't had a period in five years, so i figured it's still my body saying take it easy, lady. I still have my ovaries in there (thought I've been told they are very very very VERY tiny)..... were you maybe doing lots of activity this weekend?

Take care all of you. I feel like I've done a lot and yet done nothing. I also pumped gas and took a bag of items for a kindergartner I'm sponsoring... took the items to a local drop off site. Sigh. Off I go. E.

It is confusing. It's the beginning of our 5th week but only 4 mondays post. The time has gone by so fast and I am really enjoying being away from the rat race. Elefante 64, sure sounds like you did an awful lot. You need to lay low the rest of the day.... listen to your body. Continued healing and everyone take it easy!!!

Sandlover - OMG, do I understand how you feel. Just dig in. My office is upstairs in my home so I have been "on call" since the minute I hit the house after surgery. What's worse is that I know everything that is waiting for me upon my return. It is making me more and more tense. I can't relax. I feel good this morning so I am thinking, Gee, I'll go to my desk for 3 or 4 hours and get everything done and distribute the rest around. But the thought of being dragged in there prematurely makes me start crying. Crying being my newest development but I chalk it up to the fact the it is PMS since it has been 24 days since my last period and I kept my ovaries.

Anyway, It's going to be a nice day here in Temecula at 82 degrees. I have already set up my chaise lounge in the back yard with my IPOD, my books and my needlepoint. Now I just need a shirt that says "I don't care what I look like, just LEAVE ME ALONE!"

Sorry...but I needed to vent too. UGH.

Thanks for the quick reply, Boss Lady. Yes, time is confusing. I think overdoing it I did (ouch) but I've got to get a feel for what it will really be like Aug. 22 when I report back full time.

MOJODEP: I can't believe with such extensive surgery your doc said to go ahead even w/sex. Amazing. I only had TVH (uterus/cervix) and absolutely nothing goes in there for six weeks minimum. I agree w/the other sisters that it's good to check again w/the doctor. Sometimes I think docs get so busy they have their own 'senior moments' ... it just doesn't make sense. And the lifting for me is less than 20 pounds and taking it easy/ listening to my body. I get 10 min. in a swimming pool per day while some of the sisters still can't even take a bath for 6 weeks post op. Check....I agree...don't feel bad making a quick phone call. The nurses are very good at relaying msgs or reiterating the rules. And I think the nurses, being the majority are women, are even more conservative than some of the docs. My doc's nurse scolded me big time at my 2.5 week post op when i said i was walking 5 miles a day. She said no no NO. And the doc was like, 'big deal.'

Make that phone call..........make a list of all your questions........

Good luck to you!
Happy healing this Monday morning.......

E.

uh-oh no sleep!

I was up all night, tossing and turning. My whole body was aching but especially my knees and hips and even my back. I kept praying that it wasnt the same type of pain i was experiencing before the surgery (endometriosis pain). I also had some anxiety......it was 5 am when i finally fell asleep. anyone else experiencing body aches at night?
