Hot Flashes / Night sweats / No Sleep

Hi just got back from my 6 week post-op everything went well.

Doc told me to try Remifem Multivitamin with Black Cohosh Soy.

Has anyone else tried this? If so did it help?

Hi everyone! Thankfully, I haven't suffered from the insomnia. Last week my incision felt very sensitive. Many peolpe told me it was because of the rain. Right now, I feel OK physically. Emotionally, it's a different story. I kept my ovaries, but Dr said I could still suffer from PMS. I cry a lot. I don't have children, so you can imagine how difficult it is. Anyway, this is part of the grieving process, so we'll see. My post op is on Tues. and Ill let you all know how it went. Take care everyone!

Angelofdenial: glad your post op went well

Glad that post op went well. Can't help w/the question you are asking......

Even though I'm getting little sleep (well, just got home from 9 hours away at my beloved state fair in the pouring rain and yes, I'm a bit cranky w/teen DD)........ I seem to be doing okay. I tried to eat healthy at the fair, walked almost 12,000 steps (a good 6 mi., though slowly) and had a very nice time w/myself and another friend for part of the time there (plus her teen DD). Now i have household chores and then I will sit and rest for tomorrow at work.

Aside from insomnia and twinges/knots on occasion and being tired (hmmmm from little sleep or from recovery?) I am doing okay. Oh, and I forgot the right exit off the freeway yesterday coming home. Little things that remind me I'm not 'me' yet....................

Continued good recovery to you all. Special good luck to all w/appts tomorrow.

I might try the iboprophen at bedtime idea. Maybe it's little twinges that are waking me up and I don't even know it. It's worth a try.

E. to everyone

Nurse wants to call me in Ambien I'am not so sure I want to take it heard bad things about it. I'am frustrated because I was given restoryl (spelling) in the hospital and it worked with no side effects yet she will not give me that again she said it's to strong. I have an extreme sensitivity to meds. She also assumed that I sleep all day and that's why I can't sleep. Told her nope not sleeping during the day either. Now I've got this script and I don't think I'am willing to try it! Am I being difficult or what! Maybe I will try advil pm.

I think I am going to try an OTC sleep aid and see if that helps. Only got about 2 hours last night and no napping today, so got my fingers crossed. It's not even that I wake up and can't get back to sleep. I can't even get to sleep. My poor BF last night rubbed my back and asked if I was OK. I think all my tossing and turning and tears of frustration kept him awake too. Went down to the couch and layed there for the rest of the night. If it doesn't work, then I will call my dr in the morning. First day of work is Monday, so I need to make sure I am WELL rested!

Moey, I have had trouble sleeping for many many years. Recently i bought some Meletonin 3mg (otc). You only take one pill before you go to bed each night. It takes a few nights to really work well. And believe me I sleep like a baby now. I sleep at least 6 hrs straight now. And for me thats wonderful. Good luck.

Oh Law,
How r u? I took a vacation day today and got some stuff done. Then I went to the track (first time since surgery) and walked. I have been walking around my subdivision only.
U still taking the melo? I may try it if I need to after my son goes back to school this weekend. I saw it in walmart on Sunday, the 3mg & 5mg. They had Natrol and another brand. I just couldn't remember which sister here was using it. How do u feel the next morning though?

HAPPY HYSTERVERSARY TO ALL 6Week'ers

Today, I have hit 6 wks and feeling pretty good, I might add. Maybe because I didn't work today, maybe because your mind tells you to feel better at 6 wks.
I still can feel it in my insides if I do too much and that might last after this thread closes though. Aside from a little stomach upset off/on through the last few days, I am blessed and hopes it only gets better.

AshleyLuz....I forgot to say sorry you are having a hard time w/the crying and sadness and mourning after this surgery and hoping you have a good appt. w/the doctor next Tuesday...............E.

You know.....now that I am six weeks and three days I do 'dumb' things like moving things I shouldn't...like untangling a shopping cart from a line of them or 'picking it up' slightly to get it moving or thru a tough door or passageway in the store and stuff like that. Hmmmmmmmmmm. One doesn't notice it so much. And the other nite a moth (oh, dear) got into the house and DD was going crazy wanting me to capture it, get it, GET IT and I was up on a chair trying to swat at it and moving my body every which way and muttering to myself, 'just bec. i'm six weeks one day this can't be the best way to ease back into normal movement'.......... It was hilarious. But probably contributes to twinges and lack of sleep. A friend says if i take an iboprophen before bed i'll probably sleep a lot better so i will probably give it a try.

Take care everyone and continued best wishes for good healing.........

LAW1961,
Thanks! I mayl try that! I picked up a sleep aid from the makers of Tylenol PM, but without the pain reliver. Hopefully it will work, but right now, I feel revved up. Almost like I've OD on caffine. I cut way back yesterday and today and only drank water, so that's not it. I'm hoping sleep will help with the emotional parts too.
Achy belly tonight and all I did was go with my sister to get here wedding dress fixed. Work invited me out to dinner to say goodbye to my temp, but I couldn't manage to lug myself off the couch. Feel more drained now than a few weeks ago. Sleep...the cure all!
