So here it is 10:45pm and I can't fall asleep. All the things I couldn't remember, well, guess what, I can now! My blood pressure was 80's over 30's for two or three days. I became anemic as I lost too much blood during surgery. I remember the terrible migraines (the reason I went to the local ER the same day I got out of hospital in Ames). There I "learned" I gained 15 pounds of water!! My hands and feet were so swollen I looked like a dang Cabbage Patch kid! The ER doc tells me, " It looks like you have a blood clot in your lung and we're going to have to transport you to either Des Moines or Omaha as this is very serious and you will need to be in ICU". Waited over an hour for CT scan results...Turns out I had pnemonia....Probably never heard anyone happy to have pnemonia before, but I tell ya I smiled and said my prayers. And besides wanting to slap the crap out of the ER doc for scaring the **** out of me, I was releaved. Apparantely my O2 was very low.. So spent another 3 days in hospital... Still fighting the pnemonia a bit but really am feeling pretty good. I went for my first walk today. About 10 blocks. I know not very much, but I was sure winded when I got back. But also a little refreshed.
Anyways, think I just needed to get that off my chest (no pun intended). Maybe now I can fall asleep.....I get to go meet the surgeon tomorrow and think I'll give him a little piece of my mind...."why the heck did you discharge me???" Oh well, I was happier in my local hospital where people could come see me.....
Well, I'll try this again
Goodnight

They started to itch a little today which mean they are healing. Dr. gave me oxocodone (30). I have taken 4 for 3 days and lately 2 since I am running out and alternate with advil if I need throughout the day. It is only the right side that bothers me, prob since all the work was done on that side. I can even sleep on my other side immediately. Could it be that I am walking too fast and going up/down stairs too much. I haven't even started driving yet and only went out twice to the store around the corner as a passenge. Should I call my dr. for a refill? I feel some improvement if I dropped for 4 to 2 per day. I know how doctors are about narcotics, but after about 5-6 hrs, I really need a fix. The the pain leaves. Anyone else on pain meds? If so, how long?
Good for you for walking! I love to walk but afraid to do it by myself yet. I don't take any pain meds....if I feel that I need something I take ibuprofen or Tylenol. Just haven't needed anything stronger.
Be sure and take it real easy with the stairs so soon after your surgery. Might be a good idea for you to give your doc a call and see what he has to say about pain med refill. Like Byfaith said, take it easy and hang in there. Make sure you are getting plenty of rest. Good luck and take care. Of course, this advice is my humble opinion.

Mobrnis how blessed are you to not have too much pain. Sometimes I wonder why I am still feeling periods if sharp pain and dull pain at all times.

I wonder if its due to what they had to to when they were in there. I had a tennis ball tumer on my ovary and endro plus amd on everything else along with a blocked sigmode colon. Sometimes I wish they would tell you what all went on. I know my Dr. was surprised when she found all the other things going on. We went in due to possible cancer tumor. Thank god it was benign.

LOL. 2 days ago I was feeling a bit crabby and dh asked how I was doing. I said "I just had one of my internal organs removed, what do you think." He said "yeah, but it was a little one." Grrrrr

Went and walked a bit around the store today, I pointed and dh grabbed. I was walking so slow he finally said that we should go home before I fell down. I did get better as the day progressed but while you guys are dealing with constipation I have the opposite problem (

I know what you mean about maybe the doc should tell us what all they did so we would have a little better understanding of why we might be sore or hurt. I thank God, too, that your tumor was not cancer! You are right, I am very blessed! Because of Him I have been able to do as well as I have! You take care now and get some rest.
