A couple more things I discovered today:

The doors at work are really heavy
After answering alot of questions I started getting "fuzzy headed" (know what I mean?)

What the heck is causing that? I am the woman with the answers at work, this may not fare well for me if it doesn't improve quick.
I told my friend that I knew ds was in trouble and that I had given him some punishment but I couldn't remember what he did or what his punishment was so I guess he got a freebie this time. I'm just blamin it all on the anesthesia...at least I hope that's what it is.

You sound like me, relief. I am far from menopause at 41, just was I guess hoping to not have the surgery. My mother was 55 and I think that my grandma was even older. I hear that you follow suit to your mother, and so on.

Yeah, Elephan
When I had my lap/lysis for adhesions in 03, my former dr. gave me photos (4 pics on a sheet before/after) and told me to impress my friends with them. That is what gave me the idea. My new GYN who was referred by the adhesions guy gave me the pics this time too. I had already requested a video of the procedure. I think the pics were to show me how bad my ovary looked because I was adamant about keeping it if I could. I thought that he could work on it, but not remove it. He explained it to my family, but I will be able to ask these ? myself on Friday. I did see him before the surgery, that evening & the next morning, but decided to ask the bulk of my ? at my post-op. I have 12 ? for him. He did tell me no endo was found and that is all I know.
If you don't ask, u don't get I figure. None of my g-friends have videos either. Maybe, since your surgery isn't that old you can request a copy. I plan on getting my copy of the report too. Drs. know how I am........smile.

I haven't watched the entire video yet. GROSS! My dad is the only one that has enjoyed it. I asked him if he wanted popcorn. He watches those gross surgeries on cable too.

It can take up to 'six months' (i read in one source) for anesthesia to get out of our bodies totally. Yes, I am having a very hard time concentrating. Now that my path is clean, I need to 'get with it' and set up syllabi for my college classes and I am totally 100% dragging my heels, esp. w/one brand new prep i've never taught in my 20 years there. It's hard. I feel very spacey at times. I swear the anesthesia changed my brain. I hope I never have surgery again. It will improve I hear but it takes time.

Also, just for your body to go back to work after having a hysterectomy on July 13... it's unimaginable for me. The stress of it probably makes it hard to concentrate, too! I really hope you are just working 3 hs/day or less or not at all for a few more weeks to come. You must be superwoman. E

P.S. Yes....there are MANY doors that do NOT have handicap buttons to push to open them. It's horrible. I had to find the 'right doors' when i went to my college and my mom's and dad's big condo building downtown has a horribly hard door to open. My sister (who also lives in the same building) says they are debating putting in the buttons to automatically open the door...........with so many elderly people/those w/declining strength or people like we ladies during recovery...........some of these doors are sure to pop the stitches. I never realized it before now.......E.

interesting info, jennice41. You are a wealth of info and interesting ideas. Today I got the bill for my surgery. I won't tell.........but I am glad that all those zillion years of copays (I've been with this plan since '82 and aside from one baby and one cerclage, I try not to bug these people)...................a zillion copays I only had to pay $150 plus $2 and change for the percocet. My 28 yr old is SO underinsured and we struggle to cover the granddaughter. What a land. I know some of the sisters have written of struggles w/insurance and paying for this all, too. My eyes popped out of my head when I saw the amount. No wonder they didn't want me to stay a second evening. Wow.

Take care everyone. When school starts the end of August it's going to be hard to keep up w/you all and I feel like you are all my special family now.

Goodness. Is your dad a doctor or something? I can't imagine watching. I was embarrassed enough w/pictures someone took when one of my kids was born. Yikes!

Are all hospital procedures routinely filmed like they have videos at parking lots, etc. because of liability and stuff? I've never even thought of that. I'd love to see the anesthesiologist and hear all the things he probably said during my surgery bec. i was so scared and he made sure i slept a very nice period of time! Ah well one will never know. I prefer to let it all go. What's done is done. Now I've just got to get back to being me and with time it will come. It's hard, though..............a lot of people think that because I saw the doc today I am 'normal now' and done convalescing. That is sure not true, is it?

And I had a ride there, back and three iboprophen inside me. How on earth did you do that? Did your boss 'make you' come back? You don't have any sick leave? I feeeeeelllllllll so bad for you. I couldn't do it and I consider myself to be a pretty good workhorse, even if I am 55!
I hold my belly a lot, too. People must think I look weird. And my belly sticks out like I'm pregnant. Sigh. I have to remind myself to sit up straight: just did it at the computer. I am all slumped over protecting that big bump. You're telling me to take it easy, Capt. Crunch? Tell me you don't have to go to work again tomorrow! E.
I am working tomorrow but just 2.5 hours. No, today and yesterday were voluntary and it was pretty much sitting except the hour when everyone kept asking me questions and paging me hither and yon. Everyone kept saying "what are you doing here?" I am supposed to go back full time next week but I have told them I am planning to work only half days. I should also say that I work only a few blocks from my house so it's a short drive. My belly has gone down to pretty much normal and I feel fine. It is hard making myself lay down even now.
I have told myself that I will lay down until 5:00 then I am going to Michaels

2 week post op

Hi ladies! Well i had my first visit with the doctor today since the surgery (2 wk post op). He said I'm doing great with recovery. No internal exam yet. I will see him again in 2 weeks. At that time I will have an internal exam and we will talk about work, sex, etc. Btw, I had an LSH, including the cervix. No HRT for me for now. If I start to get symptoms then we'll talk about it. He thinks later on I may benefit from a low estrogen therapy. the path report was all benign. I had alot of endometriosis on my left ovary (despite Lupron treatment) and scar tissue. i also had multiple fibroids in the uterus. He didnt volunteer a copy of the report. I think I will call tomorrow and ask for it.
Elefan--how was your doctor's visit?
