Hi Ladies. Well, I must say, feeling a bit like I've been hit by a semi truck today. Thought the LAVH would be easy and I guess I was wrong. Actually, it's the posterior repairs that are getting to me I think. One of my nurses in the castle who had the same done told me the 2nd day post op was rough for her so I'm hoping it isn't a sign of things to come... just a bad day today with some hope for a better day tomorrow. Can't imagine walking in the neighborhood just yet. I'm so happy for those of you who are able to do that!
Happy Sunday to everyone... glad to see everyone is doing mostly well!

I got home on Friday, surgery on Thursday for LSH. Had my first BM today. My DS called it a #5 (not 2) because I was in there forever. (TMI) He went and got me some MOM and boy did it work. I took the full cup and now know the half cup will work. It gave me some relief though. My stomach went down a little. Anyway, today I started coughing. Guess it is the anesthesia finally clearing from my lungs. It doesn' t help that I smoke. But my question is: It burns like the devil when I cough on the right site. I know there should be some discomfort (had surgery in the past) but it has never burned while coughing. I am using my cough pillow. It is weird since the navel and left site doesn't have any discomfort. Need advice.

Phillipians446

They did draw blood the day of surgery, but it was for type and screen in case I needed blood. I had 2 prior blood draws for hormone levels a few weeks apart to guage the levels of when I felt good and when I felt crummy. Then they could better know the range of millegrams of estrogen to give me that would hopefully be the closest to what I needed to match the "feel good" range. I wouldn't hesitate to call your MD and find out your levels or if you start to have symtoms of menapause, so they can get you started on something.
I'm submitting to AFLAC so I went to the hospital Medical Records and signed off for a copy of my chart (a week after I discharged), which included results of labs, pathology and exactly what the Surgeons Operative Report read to find out what they did. They want to charge you around $25.00 or so much a page to make copies. For those who can't seem to find answers, it's there and you are entitled to obtain it legally, if you need to.

Hello Ladies! I had surgery on 7/9 and came home on 7/11. The Pain? Wow! It can knock the wind out of you! I had a slight bit of a cough these last few and that is probaly worse, in regards to pain, than the actual way I felt after surgery. It feels like something is about to burst out of me! All in all, I am thankful for the love and support I have at this time and always. It was so scary the morning of the surgery. I was scheduled for 9:15 AM and got to my room about 1 PM, I am told. Besides the pain with the coughs, constipation has been a doozy. Luckily I am over that hill with the help of Gas-X and a high fiber diet. All In all, I feel good. I am taking it easy and pamering the Princess for a well recovery! I hope you are all well too!

TAH on July 10th and doing pretty doggone good

Just stepping in for a minute to let you all know that things have gone better than I expected. I had a TAH Tuesday morning about 10:30. I was standing and moving my feet right after 9 PM that same night. By Wed AM I was up and in the bathroom washing up myself. They kept asking me what my pain level was and I said hardly any or none. I might have pushed the morphine button once....but that was it. It was taken out by Wed afternoon. By that evening, I was walking up and down the hall with my husband. Thursday AM, the doc came in and changed my bandage and discharged me. She didn't even have to give me a prescription for pain.....but said that tylenol or ibuprofen would be fine to take if I needed it. I am amazed at myself for how well I have done. I give credit to the good Lord above, prayers, positive thoughts, and moving my body and staying busy before surgery. I have been going to Curves for over 2 years now. I went Friday and Monday before surgery on Tuesday. Over that weekend I was at my granddaughter's state softball tournament, which she and her team got 2nd place in the state. I was told to take my bandage off Sat or Sun, well I left it on til today....and took it off. Not as bad as I thought it would be. I even got through my first sneeze and lived. LOL On Saturday, I walked about a half a block. Today I walked the whole block and did just fine. My hubby has been the greatest....he is cooking, and doing laundry, and trying to stay caught up on things that need done. He and our 14 yr old grandaughter (who lives with us) have been doing a little bonding....she doesn't seem to mind helping him around the house. Daughter helps out a little when she isn't at work. I go for my post-op appt on Monday morning....will let you know what the doc has to say later in the day. Take care and hope everyone else does even half as well as I have been doing.

Question about incision

Has anyone had like a dip where their incision is? Like my incision goes up and down and at the bottom, it is like I wasn't sewed up together right....maybe like a little pucker. Just wondering.

cana: Please continue to OVER-PAMPER the Princess. even though you feel better and perhpas even well!!. I still do not know what I did to over do. But over do I must have. I had my surgery on 6-6- and on 6-24 I had severe pain & the next day re-started frequent urinations (between 8 to 13 a day.) AND in the last 3 or 4 days--I have begun to have slight "leakage" at night.--- don't know just who to blame--but PLEASE be careful---While I thought I was behaving, and I had people doing work for me, apparently, I should of done no more work than sit & read or sew.--

and the Dr. said nothing--said i was healing well-- and that is HER opinion--not mine

PLEASE LADIES--Pamper The Princess

Hey Sisters, So my new favorite morning routine is a good cup of coffee and checking this Post Op Thread. Most of us had surgery last week and sometimes it's like we're all in the same living room in our comfy chairs and our Gas X! Thanks Reliefisdue (Mimi) for responding about the tickle in the throat. Just feels better knowing I'm not the only one with this issue. Didn't happen last night...but that may be because I was too worried about my 20 yr old daughter. My hubby took her to the ER because the little "gas pains" she kiddingly called sympathy pains got very bad late in the afternoon. Wound up having a CT Scan of her entire mid section at 10pm last night. Swollen ilieum (not spelling that right I'm sure) probably from a stomach virus that didn't present as a usual stomach virus... So here I sat with my 15 yr old son watching over me while my hubby who has been caring for me was in the ER with her... till 12:30....Reminding myself today that I should be very grateful that's all it was....could have been much worse. Ya can't make this stuff up! Oh and by the way....the CT scan also showed a cyst on her ovary that I need to have checked out......Did he say ovary? AAAAHHHHH! So much for not stressing. Usually I'd go for a long run right now to clear my head but I guess I'll just think about a run instead! Wish you sisters were sitting in my living room right now.
Feel better everyone.

Hi everyone! My 1st post on this side of things!!! I had my TAH/BSO 6/11 Wednesday, and came home Saturday...I think Dr. missed my room Friday...I am doing 100% better than I had anticipated...besides the gas pains OMG (wanted to cry) had them all day Fri, Fri night ...WOW the worst part for sure, go figure...they gave me gasX type stuff and that started relief...sounds like if we all could somehow skip past that this would basically be a breeze...Saturday and Sunday I felt wonderful, I have staples (24, vertical cut, removed old scar from c-section 20 years ago) no pain there or internally, was able to take full shower head to toe Fri. morning FELT WONDERFUL, got all prettied up, new terry sundress, and sat out on deck in sun, dh/family got cookout together UMMMM! Family has been wonderful! Day after surgery they put an estrogen patch on my back, but when dr. sent me with my perscrips. I asked for daily pill form, good thing I did cause my first shower of course the patch was laying in the drainLOL...I call today for appt. to get staples out Thursday...haven't taken a percocet since Thursday in hospital but thinkin that could be FUN! I also feel nothing on left side compared to right...during 1st BM this morning, wasn't bad at all compared to the gas pains...Dr. did tell me my uterus wasn't even attached on the one side to my cervix OMG WTH, and I know my right ovary had major cysts bursting so maybe all my problems were right side related, am anxious to talk more with him Thursday...!

Anyone wanna talk more or compare notes, I also am here, on computer, coffee in hand, wondering in circles
