Wearing Home Gear
I'm from MN, where is can be cool enough to get by w/this: I wore a huge HUGE pair of capri 'jeans' but they are super loose around the tummy. Here at home I'm wearing, if you can believe it, a pair of maternity pants I bought 15 years ago and which still are good as new. They are big, w/big elastic tummy band. If it had been cooler last week I would have worn these comfy pants to the hospital and back. I just had the one outfit. As soon as you get there you are in the hospital garb, so I didn't need ANYthing but flip flops (so I wouldn't have to tie or connect anything on my shoes)... they even had lotion, toothbrush, soap and shampoo, etc., though I did bring a bit of those things. In my bad I just had a 'surgery file' I've been keeping on myself, list of meds, lab stuff in case the hospital didn't get the preop copies, my little bag w/toothbrush, floss, paste, etc), an extra pair of flipflops (I always think they'll break; in the hospital I had to wear the special socks they hand out anyway)........ and I brought some pads more 'my size' as the pads at the hospital are HUGELY long. So my bag weighed basically nothing and I took barely a thing.
Definitely find some kind of pants that give in the tummy area. Even w/TVH I have swelly belly. Good luck... the waiting is crazy making...... E.

I wore very loose fitting elastic waist pants and a t-shirt with flip flops to the hospital and back home...What kind of surgery are you having? If you are having a TAH and you wear low bikini cut panties, make sure you have something else with you...My panties hit right on my incision, so I had to wear hi cut briefs instead.
Much luck to you!

Good point about the panties
Yes, good point about the panties. I always wear 'briefs' those old-fashioned kind of underpants.... so they stretch nice and big including over my tummy, even though I had TVH and not TAH..............excellent point! E

What Did You Wear Home From Hospital?
I wore TO the hospital a pair of elastic band pants since the cyst was 21cm and they were about the only thing I could get into. I wore the same thing home again. Also wore a pair of briefs/undies that were a bit on the large side but fit okay after surgery and didn't rub too uncomfortably on my incision. It was a vertical cut, about 3-4 inches above my navel to pubic bone. I changed into a nightie as soon as I got home.

What Did You Wear Home From Hospital?
Well...I took big comfy shorts and a tee to come home in. I bought a couple of comfy night shirts and a satin type kimono robe prior to surgery just to treat myself so I would feel good lounging around. I took those to the hospital too.
I ended up wearing the nightshirt and robe home. For the short trip from my hospital room to the car, I couldn't see hurting to put on the shorts and tee just to take them off when I got home. It was ALL about the comfort at that point.

What Did You Wear Home From Hospital?
I am going to buy some briefs. I read I should buy them a siz or 2 bigger. I was planning on wearing my gown and robe home but wasn't sure if I should or not. I was worried about trying to put on pants after a TAH.

I didn't even TRY to attempt to get those shorts and tee on. I thought about it for about a second. I just knew that that would be unnecessary pain for me since I wasn't kicking very high to begin with.

What Did You Wear Home From Hospital?
Satin -
For both trips I have worn sundresses home. To me, in particular in the summer, there is nothing easier. I just had that and flip flops (no bending to get shoes on)
Regarding underwear, my hospital gave me these mesh boy short style underwear. I know some don't like them but I found them so great, my nurse got me a couple pairs for my first couple days home.
You didn't ask but I'm going to chime in on what to take. The number 1 thing for me was chapstick (I'm not a usual user) and number 2 was hard candies. Its easy to want to take a lot of things to keep busy with but the reality for most of us is by the time we want distractions, its time to go home. I took nothing to read the 2nd time as it was to be out patient. The 2nd day I did ask DH to get me a People Mag, I browsed the pictures.
Best wishes on your surgery and recovery,
Julie

What Did You Wear Home From Hospital?
I wore a long flowing sun/lounge dress with Betula slip on sandals. Extremely comfortable and easy.
