I'd look at all other options before hopping onto the anti depressant band wagon. I know that some times they are needed. But other times they are over used as a bandaid rather find actually finding out what is wrong. I was on Paxil for almost 2 years and with no help from my hcp weaned myself off them this past fall. The withdrawal symptoms from not being on the meds was the most HORRIFIC experience of my life ever. It was awful. Just please make sure it's something you really really need and have explored all other options before taking those meds for long periods of time.

Today is my 2 week post op milestone. I've been feeling really good. The lap incisions have all healed from the exterior and the glue is pretty much gone (with some help from picky fingers!) I've been in/out of our pool for the past week. The doc pretty much cleared me from the get go. I'm assuming because I wasn't tah? I can easily lounge on a floating raft as I can on the couch so I may as well look like I've been on vacation when I return to work. I'm suppose to have another full week off but may sneak in some days just to dig out before I'm actually back on the schedule. Tues I had to drive my kids to town for doctors appts and quick Target run. I'm finding if I remember to take tylenol before I leave it makes a HUGE difference how I feel later. Skipped WW last night because I felt 'backed up' a bit and knew if I didn't lose I'd feel like crap and since I basically haven't been following plan.....why bother.
I hope everyone else continues to improve bit by bit
Off to eat some orange essence prunes! (great for keeping things moving and pretty tasty)

Recovery progress for surgery on 7-23-07

I had surgery (LSH) on 7/23. On 7-24 belly button appeared to be red and was put on antibotics and Tylenol 3 - little did I know... I was allergic to Codine and had an reaction ... thank goodness I was still in the hospital. I was released on 7-25, with no pain medication ( regular tylenol when needed) and overall feel good.

I go for my one week incisions (3) check today. My belly is a bit swollen, but no more than I expected, I think the belly button incision is the worst ~ I didn't realize how much we really use our bellies.

This website is contains a wealth of knowledge and I am truly thankful for it!

My best help right now is the book of Psalms. It reinforces the presence of hope. Have a great day, everyone!

I take an antidepressant, and it is the best thing for me. It has really been a life saver through all this, along with hyster sisters....just wanted to let you know that it is okay and can be helpful. =)

If I haven't said it before...

Hanes really is my way!

Good Morning!
I got 7 hours of sleep, got up at 6 for bathroom run, fell back in bed and slept 2 hours more!. Yes! Ladies, there is hope for us. One of you said not to worry about insomnia, eventually I would be so exhausted I will sleep... You were right. Thanks for the encouragement. I understand this won't be the end of my sleepless nights, but at least there is hope!

God Bless You!! I am in no way ready to go back to work yet--my doctor gave me the option to choose when I wanted to go back to work. No sooner than the 13th so I chose the 20th. I am never out of work and thought that an extra week would be good for me. It hurts financially, but I should be able to get a percentage of my pay through short term disability. My husband is wonderful, and wanted me to take an extra week to be sure everything is OK before going back to work. He had a kidney removed a couple of years ago and knows what it is like to recover from surgery. Be careful and take care of yourself!

Hi! Thinking of everyone and wishing you all a good recovery as we head into more activity and thoughts of that first day back to work!

I slept 5 hours before I woke for the bathroom! That was the most ever! And I slept two more after that, too.

I am looking forward to driving next week and making that Target run for school supplies.

Last night I walked two blocks in my neighborhood and coming back my legs stopped. I rested for a few minutes, then made it home. I am not a regular exerciser but I want to take advantage of my fibroid weight loss (10 lbs.) and keep losing.

Continued thanks to everyone for sharing, it's been great to know I'm not alone in it all!

I'll be 2 weeks post-op tomorrow, and I'm still not sleeping well at all. Last night, I didn't sleep at all. Am tired today, but still can't make myself go to sleep.

I have to admit, this is the strangest sensation for me... to know I'm tired, but unable to sleep.
