I have to say that I am boringly on-track. I feel great. I haven't had to take pain medicine in about five days. I overdid it today - my daughter's 15th birthday so we had to do the birthday stuff. And I am beat and hurting today. But that is not the norm. The only thing that I have to really say is that I am tired, tired, tired. I can last for about 2 hours and then I am beat and must take a nap. My incision is still doing weird things. It didn't heal evenly and there is part of it that still has reddish broken skin. It does feel wonderful to have those awful staples out!

The abstinence part is getting old. I will be very happy to be cleared after my doctor's appointment. I am very happy to be feeling sexual. I was afraid after reading all the horror stories that I would be disinterested and have lost sensation and desire.

When I went to have my staples taken out, my gynecologist told me all the stuff he "fixed" while he was doing the hysterectomy. I too had many adhesions from old surgeries that he had to remove and my previous bladder surgery was "firmed up" but no nicking.

Audrey, I know it might sound weird but if you sort of squat over the toilet in a more vertical position, it was easier to for me to urinate and it felt like my bladder got emptied.

Keep having good days!

Yikes! I think we all have the same problem---"I-feel-pretty-good-i-think-i'll-do-too-much"!!! I got in the pool with my boys yesterday and have been hurting all day because of it. My only defense is that the doctor said I could. Of course, did I stay home today and rest? Oh, no, that would be too wise. But, school starts soon and I wanted to see one of my teacher friends before she heads back to work. Oh, well, tomorrow is another day (just call me Scarlett!). I am staying home until it is time to head to church in the evening. I hope everyone else has the good sense to take it easy!!! Love and healing to all,

A "Nother" Day

Alright! A good night's sleep. What a difference being rested makes! We are one day further along in out recovery!

At this point, when I do go out with people, either to church or with acquaintances, I almost feel like I have to perform. I act like nothing happened and I am over it, then I pay for it for the next day. I read here that many of you do the same thing...

I have been far more active, but that means I am not waiting for somebody to do it for me. I have to remind myself to leave that item on the floor. It isn't hurting anyone until someone else can lift it up.

My DS rearranged furniture for me (cuz I suggested it). I want so badly to just shove some pieces a little more back or forward. He moved the TV to the fireplace mantle (his idea) to show me how good it would work up there. I agree, but now there are electrical wires all over the place and it is driving me wild! He's gone...DH out of town...DD not comfortable with the mechanics of the TV/VCR/Satellite combination. So I will just keep reminding myself that it isn't hurting anyone until someone else can fix it. sigh....

Well who would have thought 3 week spost op and we would feel so good?

I have been driving since day 9 post op, I've done a few NO NO's but haven't felt any back slides because of it.

I never had a 2 or 3 week post op doc appointment and don't actually see him until week 5 but all's going well so that's fine with me.

Glad to read so many other's are doing so well!!

Ask for an extension

Melani maybe you should ask you for an extension on your leave. The last thing you want to do is not heal all the way. I mean it never hurts to ask. If you really don't feel like you are going to be able to be back at work then you probably do need more time.

Take it easy when you can and rest

Hi Melanie,
My doctor gave me 8 weeks off. Does it depend on what type of hysterectomy you have? For example, if it is done vaginally, I think you get less time off. Mine was abdominal. I can't imagine going to back to work
as early as you need to. Actually I am wondering right now how in heck I will do it in 8 weeks, but I guess I need to wait and see. I felt better last week than I do this week. I did go to the doctor today....and I have a urine infection, so on antibiotics again
I hope you feel better real soon.

I know your torn between your health and job, but think about it...if you don't have your health, you wouldn't be able to work a job...
Its best to stay home until your well enough to return to work, because if you don't you could have a set back after you return to work and have to start all over again healing.
