The BIG WHEW!

Barney--you crack me up! Are you still in bed making up for your late night audition? Too bad this site doesn't have sound. (or maybe that's a good thing!)

Okay ladies, on a more serious-er note....has anyone dared to try out "the goods" yet? *ahem* I know we are supposed to wait 6 weeks and I will. I promise. But I was just wondering if any o' yous had tested the waters yet. Well...this is kinda embarrassing but since none of you will recognize me on the street, I can tell you that I did and it was a big WHEW. Things still work and there was no pain. Now how do I break the news to my BF who will think that maybe he shouldn't leave me alone to my own devises when he goes running off to work?

2nd day feeling good!

Hello Ladies,

I went out to dinner last night to celebrate my son's graduation. The only problem I had was my personal summer.

Other than that.....I did not have to take any pain pills before going to bed. What I did have to take was something to help me sleep.

This morning I went for a walk (2nd day) and I feel good. Just a little tired not sore. so far....

I that all my HysterSisters will have a very good day.

I guess God may be trying to teach us patience and relying on others...
Melanie,
I have read all of your posts and I completely understand what you are going through---Although my recovery has been great, and because it was done vaginally I am recovering faster, my husband has had several health issues over the last 5 years, had surgeries, been out of work without pay, lost jobs--you name it! God has always taken care of our needs, and I will pray for you tonite. As a matter of fact, we both lost our jobs on the same day about 6 months ago. I have 2 teenagers and mortgage!! But like I said, God somehow always takes care of us, and I know he will take care of you as well. It sounds like you had hard time with your surgery, you should definitely take care of your body first---everything else comes after that. It sounds like everyone has given you great advice. Please hang in there and take care of yourself--don't over-do it!!

I have taken care of myself without inserting anything. I am too afraid to do the phyiscal act because of the fear of infection. All I can say is be careful. I am jealous

About the you-know-what, my doctor has cleared me as of next Tuesday! Not that I am counting the days--(hubby is counting days!) I had everything removed (Uterus, ovaries, cervix), so I am a little nervous about it feeling different, and also curious!! I am on HRT as of this week--WOW! what a difference that makes! I feel so much better. I know that is not for everyone, but it has helped me. Will let you know after I "test the waters" next week--lol!!

3 weeks tomorrow

I can't believe that it will be 3 weeks post op tomorrow. I slept 11 hours last night and I still am in my pj resting in my recliner I guess today is a not do anything day. I had a lot of pain yesterday and my family decided they all want to be ****ake's yesterday so I went off and got all worked up so I am sure that didn't help my pain. Everyone seems to be back in line today.
I am feeling a little down today. I guess that is expected though those ups and downs of recovery. I can't believe I have to go back to work in 3 weeks I wish I would win powerball or something. I like my job but I like being off too Oh well such as life.

Hope everyone is having a better Thursday than I

Stephani,

LOL, I know how you feel. A tidbit from the wonderful nurses at the castle...they told me to wear my PJ's at home as much as possible...why??

Well, it's a gentle reminder to the whole fam, including-US- that we are still recovering. And how true. When I put on 'real clothes' to go to the doctor yesterday for my post-op, they all expected me to do dinner and clean up, as I had always done. Now, what's confusing, is that up until yesterday, they were all completely capeable of fixing and cleaning the supper table without me! HUMMMMMMMM................

I think that nurse had a good point!!

Anyway, please pray for me ladies. I overdid it today. I got my 'release papers' yesterday to drive and did so. I was fine until I had my son take me up to my college-where I am a grad student-to pick up two papers from last semester and to purchase my books for next. Well, unbeknownst to me, they had ALL of the parking lots closed, except for the furthest one! I'm beat, sore, tired, and on-so-achy! When I got home, I quickly took some ibuprofen and laid down for a nappy!

Otherwise, all is well. Each day continues to be better--my only complaint is due to the perforated bladder, it still really hurts to pee. Really hurts-alomost like a UTI. I just finished antibiotic yesterday for UTI, but I think I may have to go back...unfortunately it's gonna hve to wait til Monday since my uroligist is in surgery on Fridays. Oh well...things could be worse, right????

Well, that's it. Have a good night. Keep up the good work everyone! We're all getting there!

Hidi, all! I'm also 3 weeks post-op tomorrow. Unfortunately, my spirits and recovery aren't going as well as some of the rest of you. I actually just got back from the doctor and hospital ~ unscheduled trip. I'm having some pretty intense pain on the lower right side of my belly that has been getting worse through the week. It hurts with every step, and if I don't take my pain killers before bed, I wake up in tears. So... I haven't been able to kick the painkillers all together like I was hoping. I take one 12-hour pill (Naproxen) in the morning, then another at night as well as one Oxycodone. So, I finally broke down and called the doctor this afternoon ~ since I knew he was leaving town for a week and a half starting tomorrow. I was hoping they would tell me that it's nothing to worry about, etc... but that's not the answer I got. I was told to come in, so I did. He did an exam, looked at how the incision was healing, etc. He said he didn't see any obvious signs of problems, but wanted me to get bloodwork and pee in a cup. So, from there, I went to the hospital for my tests. He'll have the results in the morning and we'll see if there's something else going on and if I need to be on antibiotics or anything. If they don't find anything that way, it's a wait-and-see issue. I go back on the 23rd, and if I'm still having issues with pain, I'll have a CAT scan and who knows what else done to try and figure out what the deal is. In the meantime, he told me to take my pain killers ~ during the day, even, if they are needed, use a heat pad for relief, and maybe look into some kind of support thing for my stomach. Maybe I'll go buy some granny panties that have the tummy support or something.

Needless to say, this has totally thrown me for a loop and my mood is shot. I thought things were relatively on track, but now I'm not so convinced.
