Good Days Bad Days

Yesterday I was day 2 to go for a walk after post op. I walked for 40 minutes instead of 25 like the day before (because I felt great my first day walking). Well why did I do that?????? I was not in really bad pain but my tummy felt strange the rest of the day. So I was forced to take only 1 motrin and use my swelly belly buddy.

This morning I walked 45 minutes and I feel just fine, with the exception of my hubby getting on my nerves.

Ladies, reading everyones input lets me know that we all heal differently and it depends on the surgery that was performed. So who really knows, however there is one thing I do know.....Everyday you get something diffrent. I will really be happy the day when everyday is consistently a good day.

Ok ladies here is a question that you all are going to laugh at me for asking , but here it is..... When doing the kegel exercise does you But muscles move too? How do you know if you are doing the exercise right? I am not trying to tighten my but. Just my crown jewel! LOL. I feel stupid for asking, but I honestly do not know.

Come on Cathy I am waiting for your reply.

*cough*
Umm....(doing a kegel here just to "see")....you might feel your butt muscles move a little when doing a kegel but if you are bearing down, like when you are peeing really hard or doing the poo thing, then you are not doing a kegel. The best way to really feel a proper kegel is to sit on your porcelain throne and pee and make yourself stop. Those contracting muscles are the kegel. When doing a kegel, try to hold it for around 10 seconds each time or as long as you can. :dance2:

BTW: the only reason I know about all this stuff is cuz I used to be a Childbirth Educator at one of our local hospitals. The guys might sleep through the breathing exercises but they were WIDE AWAKE during the lessons on how to do kegels.

I will practice

Cathy you are an
Thank you so much for the information, I really appreciate it. I feel like a little girl talking to her big sister. The next time I go to the bathroom I practice.

I had problems with my bladder before the surgery and my doctor said it could be due to my uterus being enlarged. Before leaving the hospital a diffrent doctor came into check out my incision (My doctor was off for the day). and mentioned he is the one to do the surgery to fix my bladder problem. So far I have not had any problems. When my tummy feels full, it hurts so I got without running to the bathroom now.

Time to drink moref water!Let's see how I do.

Got my hair done

what a boost for my self esteem....
and got my eybrows done....it has been since february so I was way over due...figured if I have to go back to work next week I have to look at least ok...we'll see if I make it there though....
went to the boys school to pay for after care and grocery shopped walked slow with help from my mom and the boys...and I am just feeling a little like I over did it but not too bad...
Love the elevator analogy with the kegels and of course everytime I read the those I find myslef doing them...
Angel ...rest and drink a ton of water and cranberry juice, the no sugar added kind....maybe that will help?? I think it has helped me a little...

BTW:
I too have been having nightmares, last night I dreamt I was ripping open but I find when I wake up I am laying half on my belly....so my question is ...
When can we loay on our bellys again???
OK...have to go rest a bit.....
to all...

Awww Nina. Thanks for the kind words!
I had bladder problems before my surgery because of prolapse. My problems weren't serious but they weren't going to get better with time. I could go for hours without going to the bathroom and then when the urge hit....clear a path for me to the nearest potty! There was no time lapse between having the urge to go and going! Yikes. Now that my bladder and urethra have been hoisted up a few notches, I notice that I get achy in my bladder area if I have to go at all. This will definitely change my habits cuz now I will have to make the time to go more often. I know it isn't good to wait too long anyway and teachers are notorious for having problems because we can't leave the kids alone while we go relieve ourselves. We have to wait until recess!

Mel, I'm sorry to hear about your bad dreams. It is such a blessing to be able to fall asleep and get a decent night's sleep and now you are having to deal with this! I don't have great dreams cuz I am stressed (as I always am at the end of summer) about starting the new school year and once I started going through the change of life, my dreams got even stranger. I find I can't read anything creepy or watch the news before bed or else I will take all that into my dreams. You have gone through a lot with your surgery and maybe you are trying to sort through all the Unknowns while you sleep. Have you tried drinking a half of a glass of red wine before you get ready for bed? It might help relax you (while maybe helping to lower your cholesterol!) We will all sleep better when we can be more physically active. I hope!
I bet we could write a bestseller about the dreams we are all having! No one would believe we could conjure up such stuff!

Well, yesterday I had lunch with a GF and went to bible study. I thought that was an "easy" day. In terrible pain today, even walking bent over, upright hurts too much. Laid on the sofa all day, because 2morrow is DH's birthday. I think we will do a movie, and then dinner at the Melting Pot (a fondue restaurant that we totally love). I hope I feel good 2morrow. I wish I had pain pills, this ibuprofen isn't enough. Big hugs to all......

Seems to be a recurring theme here..we seem up to doing the simplist of things and it knocks us on our fannies...I took a ride with a co-worker today to the teacher store to 'just see' and to get out of the house. I was so tired when I got home-took two advil and a nap!

My issue today is that I feel like I have a yeast infection. Since I had all that trouble with my bladder and requried a second surgery, who knows what is going on? I was on meds to prevent UTI after the supropubic tube came out, maybe the meds caused it? I don't know. Will see how I make it through the night. Might call the doc tomorrow rather than wait out the entire weekend. It's just that my group is so big, I know that the doc on call won't know my complicated story...and I'd hate to make a bigger mess of things...

What do you all think? I'm open to suggestions. Thanks...here's hoping we are all getting bette each day!!!

Love y'all!!

Audrey--I just finished taking antibiotics for a UTI. I always get yeast infections when I take antibiotics so I take preventative measures before I get the symptoms--
1. Eat lots of yogurt
2. Go to my local healthfood store or Trader Joes and buy acidophilus in pill or powder form. Acidophilus is the active culture (probiotics) in yogurt that not only aids in digestion but seems to keep the flora and fauna in our systems in check. Yeast infections seem to occur when we take antibiotics because the antibiotics change the balance of healthy flora so that things like yeast are allowed to take over.
3. Drink lots of fluids (cranberry juice fer shure!)
4. Change my pad or pantiliner often.
5. Don't drink coffee and other acidic drinks that will just irritate my bladder until I know I am all healed.

Don't douche and don't buy any over-the-counter yeast infection meds until you clear it with your Dr. Be sure you tell the Dr. on call what meds you are taking and that you just had surgery. I really hope you get some comfort soon.
