Hi Monkey, and Everyone else...

Thanks for your update...I'm sorry that you haven't been feeling so well...I can relate, and you may have inspired me to put a call into the DR as well.

As you might recall, I had a bladder tear during my LAVH which required a second surgery two and a half days later. Well, since the supra-pubic tube was removed (a urinary drain that attached to my leg) one week post op, I have the feeling like I have to pee all of the time (sort of feels like a UTI), AND/OR a yeast infection - it's honestly hard to tell what it is...maybe both?!?! I've commented on this before, sometimes it feels better, other times it doesn't.

I said to my DH - today that I wonder if I'll ever feel 'normal' again or if I'm going to have to get used to having this feeling all of the time. I've been drinking lots of water, drinking cranberry juice ... finally got the bowels to move (taking Metamucil caplets at night before I go to bed) ahhh it feels so good!

And like so many of you, I still tire very easily. Yesterday, for example, I went to church, came home to nap, then went to a college student's going away party. I was wiped in exhaustion and pain by the time I got home at 7:30. Yes, pain! I took Motrin and was IN BED by 8:30. This morning, went to the grocery store with DH and DD, and slept for an hour after we unpacked! I feel like an old lady in this body!!

As for laying on the belly...I did last night for about 20 minutes while my DH gave me a back rub!! It was wonderful! I'm not a belly sleeper, have too many back/neck issues and wake up pretty much paralyzed if I stay on my belly too long...although I must admit it is very comfy...I'm envious of those who do belly-sleep!!!

Monkey, good luck with the DR...please keep in touch. You have lots of sisters praying for you! I'm amazed at how often I check this site to see if anyone has responded. It's pretty cool at how close I feel to you, knowing that we share something so personal in common. Cathy, I'm envious that you are back in the classroom. I keep stopping by, but just don't have the strength or energy to do anything in there. I've been making lots of online purchases, stopped by the teacher store, and talk with my co-workers...thankfully, many people have offered their help, I am blessed!!

And you are right, the sooner we get into the classroom that closer Summer '08 will be here. I think I mentioned before that hubby and I are going on a cruise to Nova Scotia next summer...I'll be finished with Grad School, completed all requirements for certification, AND 1 year Post-Op! I've got many reasons to celebrate!! I wish you all could go with me!! HeHe!!

OK, sorry, I've rambled on long enough. Have a great day everyone!

Just a little set back

Angel,

It is sad to read a has had a set back. I really feel sorry for you going through all that pain.

Make sure you rest as much as possible. Let your family take care of you There is only one you and you have to allow yourself to heal properly the first time.

Do you know what could have caused the tear? Remember no lifting or pulling.

I that you feel better soon.

Nina,
Actually, I'm still stumped as to how I tore this. I haven't done any lifting (not even a gallon of milk or water) since surgery. My best guess is either the way I was getting up out of bed or just the repeated trips to the potty. That's actually when I felt it give. I wasn't doing anything bad ~ just going pee. Go figure.
The pain is more manageable today, but I'm still a few steps back from where I'd like to be with my kids starting school in the morning. I start school next week! Eeek!
I'm taking it as easy as I can. Unfortunately, my husband works insane hours, and my mother is limited help as she's disabled. I cooked lunch today, and that wiped me out. I'm trying to figure out something simple for dinner.
I know stressing out doesn't help me heal, so I'm just trying to roll with the punches. Each day will get easier. I hope.
Thanks for the thoughts and encouragement. I'm so thankful I got up the nerve to actually post on here. You ladies are wonderful!!!

Hello ladies,
I'm mostly a reader of this site, but thought I would join in tonite.
I'm so glad to hear that a lot of ladies are still tired out. I stopped taking my pain pills a few days ago. Felt pretty good, then went to mother in laws Saturday afternoon for about 4 hours. I did nothing but sit and talk and sip on ice tea. Sunday I did not get out of bed all day. This morning had some energy so I took my 6 year old fasion diva daughter school shopping. Thank god she is quick at shopping, we were done in an hour and a half and I'm am wiped out. My belly hurts all over again, I am physically tired in every part of my body.
So I'm glad to read that this seems to be normal.
I'm thankful that I have another 4 weeks off from work for a total of 8. I read that some of you are back to work real soon, I'm not sure how you did it. Kudo's to you.
Also to the ladies who are driving, do you still put a pillow over your abdomen under the seatbelt?

Hi Amee,
Welcome! We're glad you joined us tonight! It's just good to know that we are all in this together! Even sitting for a few hours is tiring...I did that yesterday and had the worst swelly belly ever!! As a teacher, I go back to work 'officially' on the 6th of Sept...but it's the classroom set-up that needs to be done now.

I had a 6 year old diva too...only she's 15 now! And more of a diva than ever!!! I understand! She loves shopping, is good at it, and to be honest...her very first word was "shoe" - I should have known THEN that I was in trouble!!!

Anyway...continued healing! All the best to you! And, BTW, my belly is ok, not using a pillow, and I'm able to lay on the belly if I wanted to...hope yours is better soon!

Take Care....
Audrey

I am back from my first full day back at work. It is 6:00 p.m. and I went to work at 8:00 a.m. We always burn those midnight oils during the first couple of weeks of school trying to get everything ready. It used to be that the only thing that hurt me during the first week of school was my throat from talking so much. I am ready to sit down for the rest of the day. I brought some things home with me to work on here so that I can get off my feet. No nap today. I will sleep better tonight, I hope. So how do I feel? I feel sort of heavy "down there." My vagina wants to take the rest of the day off. Tomorrow will be easier because everything is labeled and passed out on their desks, I will just need to do paperwork. And then Wednesday is the BIG DAY. Where did my summer go?

I went to my checkup on Friday July 10th. The doctor said my incesion was healing well. He said i need to wing myself off the Hydrocodone, that its addictive. He told me to take IBU or Advil. But i have high pain toleranceand those over the counter meds really dont do much for me. I told him I am still very sore and very tired. He said I would be that way for a few more weeks. He did give me permission to take a bath now and to drive. I drove today for the first time! It was an experience! I was nervous and the seat belt really got to hurting me, and I got really tired of sitting in the seat too. I also went to Wal-Mart for soem groceries,I think I bit off more then I could chew! I am now home and wornout and very sore!Hope I sleep really good tonight!!!Doctor said I cant lift anything over 25 pounds and I still need to take it weasy as I still have a few hundred stitches that are healing on the inside! Guess the small opening in my incesion is ok to, he said it was normal and the fluid comming out was normal too and that it stop here pretty soon! Say a prayer! I am feelign better over all though, just have some more healing to do!! Thanks everyone for all your help and advice! Oh by the way I am on Pergeserone now too, I am also on estrogen, mood swings and some depression are still hanign around! Pray, Pray, Pray!! God Bless!!

Emotional Day

Hi Cathy,

Glad you made it through your first day back to school. Sorry your vagina wanted to stay home .

I love this website and I enjoy the friendships which are made across the country. It would be wonderful to stay in touch even through email.

Hi Angel,

I am happy you are feeling better. It is sad that you don't have anyone to help you more. I have my only one daughter with 3 boys and a son in law. I do not know what I would do without their help. My husband had a stroke almost 4 years ago and he is no help. I am his caregiver. I could write a book about that subject.

It is funny that you said it could have happen getting out of bed. I had stop taking pain pills during the day but when it was bed time, I had to take pills just to ensure I would not feel pain when getting up to go to the bathroom thoughout the night. Thank God I am pass that. It was a horrible pain lifting myself to sit upright before standing up.

Try to rest as much as you can and use the swelly belly. The swelly belly band helped out a lot. From time to time I still use it.

Hang in there

Ok ladies,

My morning started off great. Went for my walk and ate breakfast. For some reason I started feeling bad emotionally(no pains). Then I began to have a private summer. Out of no where I started crying and I felt like I wanted to scream. This was the first time I ever experienced anything like what I went through this afternoon. I vicodens and a 45 minute shower, laid down in the bed and tried to sleep but was interrupted by my husband. This is on time I wish I had some valiums to help relax me. I'm still a little on edge. It's crazy, because I started calling the advice nurse and hung up because I could not put the words together to explain how I was feeling. I have a better grip on myself, so tomorrow I will call the to get some advise. This is insane...

My body isn't bothering me to much but now I am going crazy..

Too much ladies...

Oh Nina, Nina.....I feel your pain. For the first two weeks, I sobbed, not cried, because I miss my Mom (she's not with us), my step sons are autistic, my husband works too hard, all of the mistakes I've made in my life, why I am even on this planet, I can't even vacumn my own house, one of the boy's broke the car door handle, my family is on the other side of the country, I ate the last cookie and can't go get anymore. Now, I only cry because I miss my Mom, and Sallly Struthers still has not helped all the underprivliged children. Do you still have ovaries? I don't and it just took a little while for the HRT to kick in. If you do have yours, maybe this is the week that you were supposed to be having your period? Just a thought. If it continues there is so much medically and psychologically available to us now you don't have to try and tough it out on your own..Remember, all your sista's love and pray for you. You have a whooooollllee lot on your plate.....

Hi everybody....I forgot the update! Talked to the PA at the Dr's office and she said that there has been a virus going around and sounds like I had a touch of it. She wants me to monitor my temp, and if it spikes or the belly pain increases she wants me to come right in. Whew! Slept most of the day and feel a bit better. So now I get to watch late night talk and hope that I get sleepy before the bad infomercials and Sally Struthers start up!!!! Love to all....Krista
