Weight Loss

I am concerned about losing weight. I haven't lost any!!!! I feel better, I am eating better and I am walking. I really want to lose weight! I am following the weight watchers plan somewhat. I cannot afford to actually join. I know that if I could take off about 20 to 30 pounds, I would feel sooooo much better!

returned from the void...hello, sisters!

Hi everyone, I am finally back to having internet access on a regular basis! There's a whole sisterhood out there whose names I didn't recognize so who may have never seen any of my notes, soooo:

I went from Ireland to San Francisco to let my sister (officially qualifies as a goddess) take care of me while I had the works removed (except my cervix), but by "keyhole" as my Irish friend calls it -- one tiny slit and one medium slit in my belly. Stayed in SF until Aug. 4, and went home to my family who babied me as long as I would be babied. now in the 6th week I am being good and not doing as much as I would like. I am incredibly lucky that overdoing it just makes me need to sleep for 11 hours -- doesn't tend to knock me flat. So I have driven all over western Ireland (too much fun driving on the wrong side of the street), walked up hill and down, done field work (I'm a geologist), including NOT walking up a very steep hill, and I think I'm nearly done discharging, although I'm not positive about that. I am allowed to start running on Saturday, although we are moving ourselves to Barcelona on Friday so the actual day to start exercising again may be delayed.

Weight: I lost a bunch in the first days with zero appetite, but I sure haven't kept it off...sigh... NEED TO EXERCISE again!!!!!!!

Energy: really pretty fine...

Belly sleeping: can't resist, luckily no pain or discomfort, except my chiropractor years ago told me not to do it.

Happiness to be reading all your stories again: HUGE!!!!!!!

love to all
Nancy

Yeah, even I don't get this weight thing. I lost 10lbs in the 1st 2 weeks and after that I've been gradually piling it on again. I've been walking, watching my diet, but it doesn't seem to help. I've been gaining 2lbs per week on an average! Any suggestions about how to keep it down??! Help please!!

Mel I started tracking again today too. I loathe writing stuff down but it's really the only way it works.
I have my post op Wed am. Did something foolish yesterday (like tossed my 4 yo in the pool) and feel like I've pulled something on my right side in my pelvis. So much for 6 weeks and feeling GREAT :P~~~~
The prednisone for my sciatica is making me the wicked witch of the west. I can't wait to be done with it. Moods are swinging wildly and I even with my best intentions I can't control them. Good thing I'm back at work (or not) so at least my kids are baring the brunt of it.
Classes start here Wed a.m. so that is all good!
Be well and don't do more then you're all ready for

DH and I have gone back to Weight Watchers Online. I have found this to be the most economical resource. I am not a meeting kind of girl. When I went to the meetings, I found myself resentful of the time away from home. When I get home from work, I just want to stay. Besides, in rural WY, we only get a choice of one night a week and it never is a night that works with my schedule.

Therefore, online is a good solution as it is only fifteen or twenty dollars per month. You can enter your points and they do all the calculations for you. You can even post like we do here but it isn't a format I have become used to yet so I usually just lurk...I have lost post op weight, and gain some back too... I want to avoid becoming a diabetic like my mom was so all this pound talk really encourages me!

It encourages me too! It is the support that helps the most and the motivating. I enjoy exercising; but it is hard to keep up with or have time for when you are working, etc. BUT you have to make it apart of your life. We have to make it like brushing our teeth; not only for the weight loss, but for the gratification of it and for our health!

One question, did you start on HRT when the weight started coming back? just curious.. I lost 13lbs in 2 weeks sleeping and healing and when I started the HRT patch on my 4th week even for 3 days I ate the same and did the same and gained 2 lbs.. All in my head? nope saw it on the scales! PLUS my mind was racing and heart racing on HRT. I need a lesser dose but they dont come any less, I pulled that sucker off!! I am going to try bio identical hormones I guess.

Presouz

Check out the Christiane Northrop menopause specials that are running on PBS during pledge week.
Lots of GREAT info about all this stuff including the muffin top we accumulate as we go through this. She has a good bit of info I think in pt 3 on nutrition.
If you can't find it on a PBS station at least go to the library and check out the book I think you might find it all very very helpful
