I had a TAH and BSO July 23. I am still having abdominal soreness and find it uncomfortable to sit up for more than 20 min or so.
My surgery went well. I did not sleep the 3 days in the hospital. I was thankful for the pain medication. I was up and around the day after surgery and thought recovery would not be a problem. At home I found no matter where I reclined or laid I was uncomfortable and sleep was not going to happen. By the 10th day I could tell the internal trauma had subsided and I felt a whole lot better. I still had no energy and just walking across the room made me out of breath. I am doing well other than sleep problems. I am listening to my doctor and following the rules. I have not driven yet and I do not like to go in the car as it is not comfortable. My DH is taking good care of me. At my last check up I was informed that I have internal stitches that have not absorbed. I have to go back in 3 weeks. My doctor was surprised that I still had pain and that the stitches were there. I wonder if that has something to do with the sleep deprivation. From finding out I needed the surgery to having it was 11 days and I asked very little questions. It has been much different than I anticipated. I am walking 1 1/2 mi 4 X a week - takes me 30 min. I get bored and frustrated at home. I hope I get to the point of 'feeling better than I ever have' like I am told so often.
I do have some bragging rights... I had sereing pain down my stomach and my doctor told me that was the incision from the naval down through the muscle that was so tight he had to really stretch and pull to get it open and that I would be more sore than normal. Other than that I hope this is the one and only surgery I ever have.

Hi Barnabusa,

Hope it turns out ok for you. I remeber the time the nurse called me with that subdued tone telling me that the doc wanted to see me about my uterine biopsy. Thankfully it was just that they found some precancerous cells. You'll be in my prayers. Do let us know how it turns out.

Odd question but are you well endowed? I had my first mammo at 32 and several spots that showed as questionable. When I went back to the Dr she explained because I was a DD cup often fat deposits in the breast tissue show up as dark spots. So now when I get a mammo they compare the new against the original exam to ensure that nothing has grown or no new spots show up.

I wish you the best.

Wii for me

Since it came out my family has been talking about getting a Wii, and right after I returned from the castle the subject came up again.

Well I picked one up tonight from Sam's Club and omg! this thing is soo much fun. I started with tennis and moved on to boxing, remember Tae-Bo? It's not a full body workout but the boxing worked my uppper arms and I could feel it in my tummy. It got me sweating that's for sure! And if you name your opponent you can get some frustrations out too!

I have an adversion to traditional exercise, I perfer working my hinny off in the garden. So I 'm hoping between this and my morning walks on the treadmill I will keep moving. and get my stamina back.

The Grand Tetons!

Well Nerium.... in answer to your endowment question.

Wyoming has the Grand Tetons, the Big Horns and the Snowy Range........and then there's me. I am 52 nursed 3 babes and over ate my way up to a size 18. I can never move out of the state of Wyoming for fear of scenic deflation.

Thanks for all of your concerns. Audrey, Presuoz, Mercy, Nerium and everyone. It really was a relief to be able to tell you here. That way when DH got home I was calm and accepting. I hope that all it is was a shadow. This reminds me of the posting in our early days about DARK SHADOWS. OOOOEEEEEOOO. Prophetic posting..dumdum duuuuummmb.

Can't I just get better already?!

Hello, Ladies!
I went to my 2nd post-op appt with the urologist that did my BSO. Last week, I think I mentioned, that when I went to see my oncologist/gynocologist that she made a comment that she thought she felt my slingwhich I thought was kind of weird. Well, I told this to the urologist today and told her it had been a little painful during intercourse and that my DH had felt something sharp. Well, low and behold, I'll be gosh darned if there isn't part of my sling "sticking out"! Are you kidding me???
So, I now have to use a cream 3 times a week for a month to see if it will correct itself. (How this will really work is a mystery to me, but...) If it is not fixed by that time, we will either continue the cream for a little while or she will have to go in and "snip" it!
Worst news (at least for my DH) is no sex again for the next month!
UGH! Can't it all just be over already?

Thank you all. This will be my first GD I have two GS.

Bernie congrats on the soon to be daughter-in-law.

Congrats to your cousin Audrey. Do they know if it is a boy or girl?

The sleeping thing seems to be an annoyance for all of us in one way or another. I fall asleep easy but wake up around 3 or 4 and can't go back to sleep.

Have a great weekend all. I am off to see my girls for the weekend.

Hey there Surgery What!Just wanted to let you know it does get better! Just take baby steps! One day at a time! I can so relate to not being able to sleep in the hospital, and at home! They say its something to do with having the surgery. I am not sure what though! You hvae hundreds of stitches on the inside trying to heal on there own. So you are going to be sore! I am still sore! And when I pee and go number 2 it still hurts. You are doing great walking like that every week! Wtg Girl!!! Wish I was doing the same!I need to be walking everyday! I have diabetes. The tiredness is going to take some time to go away! I am still tired too, but not as bad as I was the first few weeks. If you can maybe you could try resting, or sleeping some in the day. I have driven, but the seatbelt still bothers my incesion, and is very uncomfortable!Driving makes me very tired, I have to concentrate alot!So I still dont go to many places on my own yet.DH and DD help me alot too! Thank you Lord!! I am still working on the sleeping thing myself. And I cant sit for to long nor lay down for to long either! Ha!But I do have faith!! And we will feel like a new happy healthy woman, like everyone keeps telling us, here pretty soon! I am claiming it in Jesus mighty name!!!! My incesion is a bickini cut, over the top of my four c-section scars!! OUCH!! Yes lots of scar tissue, and I even had some scar tissue on my uterus!!My incesion is healing well , but its still very tender to the touch,or anything that rubs against it,or touches it. This to shall get better in time!! Amen! Just take it easy, one day at a time!! I am praying for you!!I wish you the best! Be good to yourself!! The pain will get better too!! God Bless!
