Is the "hype" over "hyst" true?

Do people feel that "hyst" are given more than they ought to be? Are there other "option's" for painful intercourse (of courser other than none at all my hubby wouldn't go for that)...bleeding 2wks out of a month...the endless trips to the bathroom...I was just curious if other women tried other "option's" before their "hyst".

Is the "hype" over "hyst" true?

YES there are definitely other options that one could try, depending upon the diagnosis. We are not "promoting" hysterectomy here. We are here to offer support to those that need a hysterectomy. But we also recommend that you explore all options first. I, myself, suffered with ongoing pain and bleeding for a couple of years before resorting to a hysterectomy. I tried birth control pills and also a hysteroscopy/d&c to try to alleviate the pain and bleeding, but these treatments were not successful for me. I then had my hysterectomy for adenomyosis, endometriosis, fibroids and endometrial hyperplasia.

You say that your symptoms are painful intercourse. Do you have any other symptoms? Has your doctor suggested a hysterectomy? If so, has your doctor given you any kind of diagnosis? Seeking out a second opinion could also be in your best interest.
