Lisa, I am so sorry you are having a hard time. My mom had a difficult recovery as well and she is amazed that I am up and looking normal. But I had tvh and I don't have a huge slice through my tummy on down.
She keeps wanting to come help me because she remembers how terrible she felt. So I imagine that what you are feeling is very normal. And we all heal differently. Don't rush it.

I'm curious how endo in the bladder affected you before surgery. Ouch!
Honestly, aside from having some incontinence (especially at night), I never would have known anything was on my bladder.

When I had my lap done in January, my bladder looked ok, but he couldn't see behind my uterus. He said he was amazed at how much endo was on my bladder. I had already known that there were bowel issues, but not bladder. Go figure, LOL.

It's amazing how much things change in medicine over the years, isn't it? I can't wait to go to the dr. on Wednesday so I can get a copy of his operative report. Should be some juicy reading, LOL.

Ok, another new concern. I had VH and have stitches kind of like an episiotomy. It feels like there's pressure on them today. Do you think that's normal, maybe part of the healing? (I worry too much about every little thing! Even though the other things turned out alright. Sheesh!)

moss, I have stitches also and I don't even feel them. Maybe you should phone the doc or maybe someone else can help you.

Mollypolly, from what I gathered, it is like a hammock for the urethra. It helps with incontenance. My bladder was out of place to he tacked it back into place and put the sling under it. So far so good. It is a very different feeling now when I pee but I think it is all normal and everything feels nice and tight

Pillow Princess Nina

Hello Hyster Sisters,

July 17th I had Hysterectomy. Only my uterus was removed. I stayed 3 days in the hospital. My first appointment after the surgery is August 30 and I return back to work September 11.

I am a plus size women size 18/20 (Budda Belly). My stomach feels warm around my incision and heavy at times, I am unable to sleep throughout the night. How long will it take before the heavy feeling goes away?

The first week home felt really good. The second week was ok but my third week brought on strange feelings in the area of my incision and restless nights. I have hot flashes too. How can that be so when I still have my ovaries?

I bought the "Swelly Belly Band" and the Hyster Sisters Guide book. The belly band gives me some relief. I just want this to be over with. I am so afraid that I will not be healed enough when it is time for me to go to work.

To the creators of this website.....Thank you so much. I have found more answers here than from the advise nurse.

Nina

Well, after reading all these posts, I know that whatever I have had with the surgery and afterwards is pretty much par for the course (pressure legs, IV, catheter, etc). I do have alot of pain in my right hip and back and I think its from the drain bag I had attached. It's out, and the staples are due to come out today also. so i should start to feel better.

much love and support to all my other sisters here who are relating to this new adventure we are living through. - Susan

Hi friends. I have had bouts of insomnia on and off. last night wasn't bad, up every 2 hours to go to the bathroom and then back to sleep thankfully. but i found this morning when i did sleep again, i started drifting off and thinking i was back in the recovery room and reliving all this over again.. anyone else have these moments or am I abnormal?? - Susan
