Hey I sent my mom and eCard and all it said was
"I went pooh pooh"
she got such a kick out of it.
It is a major accomplishment -- did the stairs cause any additional spotting?

Hi Sisters,

I am feeling like such a wimp, I am one week post-op and still in lots of pain. All I want to do is sleep.

Thank goodness I am not having a problem in the bm department. I am taking stool softeners at night and eating plenty of fresh fruits and veggies and also raisin bran.

About the stairs...I think I went up and down about 10 times already today. Do you think it hurts anything? It's harder than I thought it would be to rest so much. lol

I found that running the faucet on low helped me to relax and pee when I was having trouble at the beginning - also leaning different ways.

no spotting from the stair climbing but my thighs and hips are sore and very low in the abdomen where it meets the hips. I had call the Dr. office today for pathology reports and the nurse asked how I was doing. I told her how I was feeling and she asked if I was climbing stairs. She said I shouldn't have even attempted stairs till 1 week post op.

As for the bm, I have been on stool softeners, prune juice, fruits, veggies, no meat and lots of fiber and water but still had problems

I definitely think that I am a bit different than most when it comes to recovery. I woke up this morning with a horrible headache though. I really don't know why. I am doing great every other way though. I'm not really hurting. I have all the rest of you in my prayers.

I am 3 day post op. My surgery went OK until recovery and my BP went into the bucket. Nausea was unbarrable but with meds it got better 24 hours later. This sugery is harder than I expected. I feel 7 months preg with all kinds of fluid retention. My doctor did not believe in the Morphine pump so I had to ask for pain relief and wait until they go around to getting my meds. I was wondering if anyone is having fluid retention my ankles are all swollen, writs, fingers etc. I hope all of you are feeling better I'm just sad.. Thanks in advance Renee

I'm just reading all of your posts and feeling amazed that we are all going through the same/similar surgery experience together...and able to read/share our stories.
I can't tell you how much it has helped me these last weeks...just reading everything on this site.

My surgery was July 31.
I found the definition page...I had a SAH....kept ovaries and cervix....
I also was offered a mini-tummy tuck by my doctor..
Although I really am a small person...I did have stretch marks and loose skin on my lower abdomen from having two large babies..., so when my doctor mentioned the tuck...I thought , HEY...sounds great...while you already have me under anesthesia and cut open...why not....???
Well...now I know why not.....
and recovery time of course.

I had the mild annoying nausea last week...Friday and Saturday...I swear it was those pain meds...although I guess it could be other things also...
I'm managing to get through the day without the pain meds...and only mild pain..but very tolerable...
I am not having too much trouble falling asleep at night...but...I too wake up with a full bladder....and then....I'm AWAKE....wide awake...
I can't get comfortable in bed....I can't relax....
I have pressure on my incision after needing to pee....
I've had to take a pain pill the last two nights....one this morning at 3:30 a.m....yesterday morning at 5:30 a.m....
just to relieve the pain and be able to eventually sleep a few more hours...

As I read these posts, I am feeling very blessed! I only had a TAH kept ovaries. Had several large fibroids, they are gone now.
I had pain med pump until late last night, now I have pain meds, but only took tylenol today until they decided to remove my staples, so i had 2 percocetts. then again about 5pm, took just one pill. I am beginning to be more swollen today than yesterday. Did ice packs most of the time while in the castle. will keep that up now that I am home.
I had a mini tummy tuck last june and I think the recovery from that was worse, although they used the same scar to cut for the hyster. So, I am not sure why it seems to hurt less now.
I can get around ok, but I am really trying to stay in bed.
I feel good mentally so far too. I guess I had my mind made up to have a mini vacation of sorts for at least three weeks, so I think I will do ok, laying low.

I want to cry all the time. Guess this is normal not sure. I also had a bladder nick during the tempted laproscopic I have heard by others got them up and running quickly. I had to be opened up and have still been experiencing alot of pain. I have a JP drain for the bladder tear which is supposed to come out tomorrow. I know it will be painful to have this pulled out so I will not be sleeping tonight. My sleep only amounts to intermittant periods of about 2 hours right now any way. It doesn't seem that others are having much pain but I still have quite a bit. If anyone else can share similar experiences I would love to hear from you.
