mollypolly, DH got me gericare stool softener. Do I look old? I don't think so! ha ha I take 1 a night. My gas is a lot better so not sure on that part of your question. Walking has helped the most for that, I think. And if I just lay on my tummy for a few seconds that helps! lol

I just saw your last post -- I am not usually a shopper, but I have been watching QVC and HSN A LOT!! I am starting to think I need a lot more stuff than I used to. Trying to stay on meds and away from the phone ..LOL

Mary
Actually, that was quoting someone else. I don't have a DH, LOL. I'm not much of a shopper.

LOL @ your insides. That's how I feel too. ICK.

I'll look for that one here, but with my luck, it's probably a west coast thing, LOL. And no, you don't look old. Well, your font doesn't anyway, HA HA HA. I've never seen YOU. *Giggle*

I have been a QVC shopper for years and DH hates it! A year ago I decided I didn't need all that stuff and I cut way back. It is so addicting. I made my first HSN purchase the week before surgery. They had a caftan on there and I thought it would be nice for recovery. I got it in purple and it is very shiny. I washed it when it came and had it hanging in the laundry room. DH came home and asked if one of Harry Potters friends had come to reside in our home.
I laughed so hard. It is rather ugly! And being polyester, it is kind of hot. I have worn it only once. Oh well.
If there is nothing on tv I will turn QVC on just so I don't feel alone. Silly I know but its true.

Although, I still do order from QVC. I didn't finish that thought
I buy makeup if it is a good deal. THat is another one of my hobbies. I buy very little jewelry but I do on occasion. Cleaning products too. But I have to ask myself if I really need it and do I have the money!

Ok... I am a little slow on the take sometimes. I didn't even see this thread until today.

My surgery was last Thursday, Aug 2. I went at 9 and surgery was at 11. I was supposed to be out by 2 but wasn't out until almost 4. Apparently my Dr was nice enough to tell me the next day I was one of the hardest LAVH that he had done.

Apparently, when I had my C-section almost 8 years ago, my uterus had "almost cemented" (his word not mine) to my abdominal wall. A LOT of Scar tissue. He stated he had to do a lot of "pulling and tugging" to get it out. Just what I wanna hear.

I had to chuckle because for some reason I always have to be memorable to people. The first day was HORRIBLE. I was nausea (had nothing to be sick on my insides were already empty) and my groin muscle hurt to holy Hades. They informed me and my doctor they had given the max of all the nausea medicines that they could give.

Originally it was thought I was going to need a blood transfusion. After having two failed IV pricks and a VERY nasty bruise on my right arm (I still look like someone beat me with a baseball bat!) they decided I hadn't lost as much blood as originally believed. The transfusion was abandon.

My boyfriend was a trooper and stayed the night with me. Sometime or another the first night they finally gave me a morphine pump because the pain was so bad. To be honest the first day is a little bit of a blur but I still remember more than I wish I did.

The next I was able to head home. For some reason I really don't remember getting here. I vaguely remember going to the drug store to get my pain meds and other prescriptions but not much after that.

Since I have been home I have REALLY good days and REALLY bad days. My appetite has dropped a lot but I have found if I don't make myself eat it is even worse. At least I have dropped about five pounds.

I have found this website to be a great comfort because I don't know a lot people in my area. It is also good because my boyfriend (as sweet as he can be) is not always as sympathetic to my surgery as I would like. His theory was he didn't want me to have it. Try to deal with the pain and the more frequent periods was his opinion. Surgery, to him, was the wrong choice and that caused a couple of great arguments with us previously. So whining is not really an option. I made my bed now I need to lay in it, I guess.

I don't mean to make him sound like a horrible boyfriend. Actually he has been really good about the whole thing. Bought groceries, rents me LOTS of movies, and comes home to check on me during lunch. He even got me a couple video games for when I am getting ansy but shouldn’t be up doing stuff.

BUT going on a week... He expects me to be doing a little more around the house. Like at least put the clothes in the washer to start. I try to do it but afterwards I am POOPED!

Ok, now I am just rambling. I am finding the no contact with other people somewhat lonely. I log into work and check email just so I feel like I am connecting with people. I guess that is another thing that makes this website so nice. Having contact with the outside world is very comforting.

I am going shut up now, go lay down, like I am supposed to and probably take a pain pill. (which I'm trying very hard not to do on a regular basis.)

Thanks Sisters! You really are a great bunch of ladies!

Moss - I am so sorry about your interview. Just hang in there - remember it hasn't even been two weeks. Be happy that you have a supportive DH and your friends here.

Soonershep - Welcome! I too found this site after the fact. Although I'm not overly active in posting messages, just reading the comments have been very helpful to me and I know they will be for you. Unfortunately (or not), I have not had the problem with constipation - just the opposite, but my nurse told me that if constipation occurs stool softeners can be your best friend.

Also, I just started walking to my mail box two days ago, so take your time.

The temp. here in SC is 103 today, but I am loving it. My amenia and low blood pressure have caused me to freeze to death! Does anyone else have this problem? My Dr. won't let me take my iron pills yet, until my bowels are back to normal. I don't know if I know what 'normal' is any more!

Chani - Please don't over do it! Doing the clothes may not seem like a lot, but it really is. Remind your boyfriend that you just had major surgery. If you really need to do the clothes, you can sit and fold, but please don't overdo it.

Praying for you - D

MollyPolly - Try Docusate Sodium, USP. It's the generic stool softener my MD recommended and it works.
