no, I just started walking about 20 minutes....the other lady who had this done the same day as me, is walking on her treadmill 1 hour a day which I am amazed at ..I dont have that energy yet. the doc said 3 weeks from the date of surgery I can start slow gym stuff. nothing that affects my lower half.. so I started walking around the neighborhood yesterday getting some strength back. this surgery has really been good to me. no problems, not much pain and Im back to cooking family some dinners, but still resting in between.

Well, i made it through to the post op side I had my TAH/BSO on monday at 3 oclock, got home yesterday (thursday) at 10. I feel im recovering ok, still feel very light headed, even just sat here, i guess that will pass in time. My surgery went well, i think it took 2 hours, i know i was in A LOT of pain when i first woke up but that was soon under control as they gave me the morphine pump which was excellent. I found they had to put a pressure bandage on me the night of surgery as my wound opened up a bit, luckily for me i was too out of it to notice. The second day of recovery i had a problem with the catheter , it felt like my bladder was going to burst open, i was in a right state, crying and carrying on, the nuse came ang scanned my bladder but it was just about empty so no one knew why i was in so much pain, it felt like an extreme case of cystitis, but no infection was found anyway after an hour the pain wore off but they gave me wash out to be on the safe side. Has any of you got a numb leg with this surgery, i just have a numb patch at the top of my right leg, while i was in hospital the whole top of the leg was numb, but now im left with just that bit i cant feel at the top. The nurse comes tomorrow to take out my stitches, i think i have five, i hope its healed ok. Anyway just you all remember to get plenty of rest and drink and do bits of walking and im sure you will all be fine

I haven't had leg numbness, I am having a case of Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS) in my right leg. Never had that b4!! I know I shouldn't......but my DH has RLS and I took his prescription and that worked, well, I fell asleep anyway. It does not affect me during the day, but boy howdy at night look out!

Well, went to the doctor today for my one week post op. He said the three little incisions look good. My boyfriend said the one in my belly looks a little funky but the doctor wasn't concerned about it. He gave me some more pain pills even though I try not to use them. I tend to need one or two by mid afternoons. That is probably due the fact I start getting fidgety and getting up and down... up and down a lot.

I mentioned to the doctor that I thought I might have a UTI so I asked him to take a urine sample. He came back and said it did look like I had something and he was going to send it off for a closer look but he wanted me to start antibiotics today. So, I got that on the way home too.

All that pretty much tired me out so my sweet boyfriend drove me home and made me something small to eat and headed back to work. I laid on the couch for about 15 minutes.

Within about 30-40 minutes I started talking to a friend of mine online and decided "Hey! I'm up and moving... let’s go to lunch." So for the first time in a week I have gotten dressed, curled my hair and put makeup on and went out. My friend was probably wondering why I looked like I was going out on a date. But I just decided I want to look pretty. We went out for a quick lunch during her lunch break. She was sweet enough to come pick me up because the doctor says he still doesn't want me to drive since I am still taking the pain pills.

I feel like I have been a very busy little girl today. I am very tired and VERY sore. (Why does everyone have to drive those tall SUVs?!? They are so hard to get in and out of!) At the same times I feel a little more alive than I have in the past week. I think contact with a real person in the outside world, besides my boyfriend, did me some good.

On a side note... Although I got dressed today I am being chicken because I won't wear pants. On both trips I wore a dress because I don't want anything pushing my belly. My friend laughed at me because after a cheese quesadilla I was stuffed, (lack of appetite thing). I walk like an old woman that is pregnant because I hold my belly to keep it from jiggling when I walk.

Hope everyone else is doing ok. Take care and avoid the heat.

It is HORRIBLE here in SC. It is 101 degrees with a heat index of 104. BLAH!

BTW, I really do apologize for the run-on sentences. I never have learned how to not do that. SORRY! Grammar is not my strong suit.

Crampy Legs?

Hi Ladies,

Just checking in. It has been 1 week since my TVH. I am feeling a bit better today. Not as much pain in my mid section. The only problem I have is this morning I woke up with terrible cramping on the front of both my legs. Anyone else experience that?

Glad to see so many of you doing well. Sure is a breath of fresh air

Welcome to those who are new!!! Congrats on making it to the other side

I finally went outside to walk to our sidewalk, nice to get a bit of fresh air. I notice that getting out of bed is getting harder, I seem to stiffen up overmight, but sleep is a bit better so I guess it's a trade off
My legs do feel really stiff someitmes, but after I walk a bit they seem to stretch back out. When I sit up I feel better for awhile, then I feel sore when I lay down. When I lay down for awhile I stiffen up and I feel sore when I first stand up.... looking forward to that bit of transition to go way.
I am still keeping my guard up -- my cat loves to snuggle on my lap, but his favorite is to walk across my stomach and lay on me so he can snuggle under my chin. He's been good so far, but I am keeping my eye on him!
Have a good day everyone

leg cramps

Hummm, leg cramps, don't have any of those, but I seem to recall it can be due to a potassium shortage or a number of other things, if you have or can buy a really good mineral suppliment, try taking those at nght, they really do the best taken at night, they will help with the BMs too.
You can also try to drink Tonic water (quinine) that really works good too.... one of my secret weapons when I used to fly long flights to Asia, like 12 hour flights or longer, I would get leg cramps on the way to the hotel, finally discovered through an article in a magazine Tonic water, and it worked really good.
Good luck with those! One really good product for Calcium and Magnesium is by Mezotrace, you can find them at most larger healthfood stores. They work great.

Missidsney, after the 1 week mark I was feeling so much better. Good luck to a new week post op.

DH and I went on a nice walk last night. We did a loop, up hill a ways then flat then down a hill through a teeny tiny forest and back to our house. I did fine except for my allergies started to act up and then I was coughing. Hope to try that again soon.

Tonight we are going to my parents house for dinner. So we will go pick up some steaks at the store soon. We are also on the hunt for a reclyner so we are going to do that soon, well as soon as I get dressed.

I have 2 fresh produce skirts and shirts to match and I have been wearing those like crazy. Need to wash them today. They are so comfy. I got one at Nordies rack and loved it so much that I got another one off of Ebay! Score!

My cutter is finally working. It got sent out with some weird settings but after an hour on the phone with the lady I bought it from, it is now up and working and I can even run the thing! Crazy

Off and running.

Remember, keggels, water, nap, walk around the house, no lifting

Mary you hit it on the nail. I feel exactly as you. Whenever I lay down I stiffen up. Especially my neck!!! My neck tends to hurt pretty bad as well. I can't seem to get my pillow right. I can't wait for this to be done.

's to you.

I am also having a really hard time with my children. I have four ages 12, 9, 7 and 2. The middle children (both girls) seem to really be acting out. Back talk and not doing what they are asked to do. It's making me sad because I really need them but I also understand that they are kids. I think they feel neglected since I am not my usual self. Wish hubby didn't have to return to work so soon. I only had him for 2 days when I came home from the

I am having a hard time sleeping. Getting comfortable is hard enough but once I fall asleep I can't seem to stay sleeping. Any suggestions?

Again HUGE TO ALL!!!
