I am so excited I have to share, I decided I needed an recliner to recoup in. I figure if I have a comfy chair, maybe I could relax.
So DH and I went looking last night and I found the perfect chair. Medium brown, very pleasing color considering I hate brown. It rocks and reclines. I decided I didn't need a swivel on it. THe store was so busy with college kids coming back that we waited about a 1/2 hour before we could pay so we sat in the sofa and love seats that went with the recliner and I fell in love! Both sides of the loveseat recline and both ends of the sofa recline and it was well built and very soft. So I decided I needed the whole set. DH was having a panic attack! I have money left over from a small inheretance my grandfather left me so I used that. They will deliver it on Thursday and in the mean time I am going to have DS move all furniture out of the living and do a deep clean with our new steam vac. I am so excited.
One couch is 16 years old and the other is only a few years old but it was only $200 new so you can imagine what quality and comfort it has. lol

The other funny part to that is I have always wanted a large sectional! Oh well, I am going to love this set.

I say ditto, ditto, ditto to what The Gardener, Molly Polly and YarnAddict said. I think those of us with TAH are healing slower and with different progress points and setbacks. I could not even think about walking for an hour on a treadmill, but I was thrilled to walk slowly around my block this morning with my DH walking slowly with me. The walk went well, but I was a little shaky when I got home. Our bodies let us know when we are overdoing it, and we need to listen!

I had my first weepy breakdown yesterday. A private little pity-party for myself. I am a school teacher (kindergarten) and all my friends are back at school getting ready for the start of school. It was hard enough for me to "do nothing" when it was still summer vacation, but it's really hard to depend on my friends to set up my classroom and it breaks my heart to know that my students will start the year with a substitute teacher. In my heart I know it will be okay because I love my co-teachers and they love all the kids equally and will take care of my class, but it's still HARD! My goal is to rest up this weekend and have my DD take me up to school for a bit on Monday. I'll feel better if I see how my area is arranged, get some hugs from fellow teachers, and then I'll bring home stuff to make everyone's nametags, class lists, etc--the jobs I can do from my couch or recliner!

I hope everyone is taking it easy in the airconditioning. The Heat Index is 107 here. I'm glad I'm watching the PGA golf tournament from my recliner, not across town in person!

Hi, I'm new. I had a TAH (kept right ovary only) on the 30th of July. I was home on the 1st of August. My mom has been coming over and keeping watch over me so I don't overdo while my hubby has to go to work. I had very little pain at first but now my hips are so sore I can barely stand it. I had weightloss surgery 2 years ago so liquid pain meds are my only option. I am on liquid loritab and it's not helping with this pain at all. Seems almost like pulled muscle pain. Anyone else having this? ~Mandy

[quote=marshmallowchri] All of you, Ladies who have been home-bound or home-ridden, I am just curious ... how old are your doctors? I am wondering if it is an old school type thing or if young doctors are still abiding by this.[quote]

marshmallowchri - I'm one of the house confined; however, I have been sitting on my deck everyday, reading and have gotten a great tan on my front side! Considering that I'm 43, I really don't consider my Dr old - he's 48.

But I did have a blood transfusion after my LSH and left the hospital with a hemoglobin level of 7 (very anemic). My Dr also knows if he doesn't tell me not to do something, I will do it!!!! He actually made me stop exercising, gardening, traveling out of state in March, when my hemoglobin started dropping. Thank goodness my boss understands, because I missed two out of state meetings - one in May and one in June!

What is a chip sandwich? Sounds yummy

To answer your first question I am just a Yarn Addict, I crochet, knit, spin, felt......anything to do with fiber, I just love it. I'm going to P.M. you an address for a site you will just love.

As for your question about my Dr's age, he is approxmately 40. But where you had a TVH, I had a TAH. I have an incision from hip to hip. I had a c-section 18 years ago and the scar tissue from that had to be cut away for the new incision. I orginally was just to have my uterus removed but once inside it was found I was riddled with infection and my left ovary was found to have 2 cysts and was the size of a softball. None of this showed on any of the CT, 3 MRI's or internal and external sonagrams performed in the 3 months before my surgery. Right now I am 12 days post-op and I look like I'm 7 months pregnant (very swollen) I have constant ripping pains across my abdomiin and I can barely walk around standing up straight (still walking around slightly bent over.
BTW I'm 46 but right now I feel 86

As for you third question....I have no idea what a chip sandwich is but would love to know!

Mandy - I had an LSH (kept ovaries and cervix), but I've also been having hip pain, liked a pulled muscle, mostly in my right hip. I just thought it came with all of the other pains I have right now. I'm taking Viocodin and sometimes it helps and sometimes it doesn't.

Marshmallowchri - Ok, you're contagious today (now I'm gabbing more than normal). But I asked my DD, what a chip sandwich is and she said that it is possibly a potato sandwich; however, she said that in Australia if it has to do with chips, it consists of fish and french fries. We now need Shadelite, who is in the UK, to tell us!

Hi (s)!

Today I finally feel like I am "turning a corner" in my recovery. This is the first day I have not been worn out just from taking a shower. I am trying not to do too much and set my self back a notch.

Hope you all are healing up nicely and being pampered like you all deserve. My hubby has been wonderful and is indeed pampering me and taking great care of our little ones and all the chores around the house.

I thought I might have a decreased appetite after my surger, but good gried, I am just the opposite, hungry all the time. Anyone else experiencing this?

Marshmallowchri, my doctor has been in practice for almost 30 years and is definitely conservative and told me to pretty much not do anything until I see him at 4 weeks.
