hi girls, just to pipe in, I did not lose my ovaries, I was two years post menopausal, never a symptom through that process. My doctor said I probably won't need any hormones his comment being if we keep the ovaries, they were still working. My estradiol level was 15.

It has been 9 days since my surgery and I have noticed I am just a little bit more sentamental than before, so it is either from having gone thru this life changing surgery, or hormonal imbalance.... It is not like I bawl my eyes out or am sensitive to others leaving me alone or not calling, but I did feel a little choking up at the end of a very senitmental movie the other day. Other than that, I have not noticed any difference yet.

What exercises did the physio show you? I would love to know!! Basically I can't do anything for 2 weeks either and now I'm starting to see every piece of dirt in my house and it is driving me crazy!
exercises are: 15 of each twice a day - pelvic tilts, knee rolls and 'sit ups' but basically just lifting head, also pelvic squeezes

Hi Girls!

I'm doing pretty good today; although my peeing is going backwards! I am cathing more than I'm peeing again! How frustrating!!!

I'm going to lunch with my husband in a little while and we might hit a thrift store while we're out- I'll let you know if I get any deals!

Oh, I lost about 5 lbs!! I am so excited, because I gained about 15 on chemo- I had lost about 5 before the hysterectomy

Moss- how old are your daughter's boys? I'm glad the shelter situation is working out for her! And I know it's a huge relief to you to have her happy there! Take care of yourself!

It's great to see new names!

Take Care!

larlieloon, what is a knee roll? Thanks for letting us know what the sandwich consisted of.

Moss, maybe you can get your daughter to help around the house while she is there for those few hours. I am so glad she has a safe place to stay and I pray that she wakes up as well. Hang in there.

I need to get my sleeping figured out. THat is my biggest problem right now. I can't get to sleep at night and then I can't wake up in the morning. My hospital stay was okay but those leg compressions kept me from sleeping. I only got 1/2 hour of actual sleep, that was the longest stretch. Other than that they were cat naps and only a few of those. I think that is partly why I am so messed up.

Moss, hugs to you and your daughter...a very tough environment for you to heal. I am glad she is in a safe
place and hope things improve soon.

I feel okay today after overdoing it yesterday. My incision is very itchy! I haven't noticed being teary more than usual, but I do feel a bit out of sorts, since I am not at work and am missing my friends and normal routine. I feel especially sad about my friend who recently got a divorce, because I haven't seen her much and she is thinking of moving about 30 minutes away...so many changes too fast -- she is my running partner so I feel like I am not "there for her" and also deprived of companionship. Well, I did call and leave a message on her cellphone, so hopefully she and I can catch up soon.

Take care, keep on healing!

It is harder than it sounds to do nothing for two weeks! It can be a very isolating feeling and difficult to be out of contact with friends and out of your normal routine. Maybe your friend can visit you?

A knee roll is when you lay on your back with your knees up and then move both knees together first to one side and then to the other - but only as far as is comfortable - not all the way to the bed like you would when you are fit!

That has been my biggest complaint. I feel totally worthless not being able or allowed to haep or do anything around the house. I have never been good at sitting still, this is driving me crazy. I have a major vacation planned in 5 weeks, I can't wait to get out of this house. I planned the vacation long before I knew about my surgery and the doctor told me not to change anything that I would be fine. I wish I were fine now. As for being weepy, that's not really me. I am more down in the dumps, but I've never been weepy. I tried to talk to my DH but he seems to think I should be fine with this since I am no longer in pain and no longer bleeding all the time. My mom had a hysterectomy like 25 years ago and I think she has forgotten how this all feels. Also I am still dealing with odd pain. I guess it will get better, it just takes time. ~Mandy

Well, even if family doesn't understand, at least your girls here do! Keep up the good attitude, Mandy! It will be two weeks tomorrow! Congratulations!
