Jeninne, Thought I should clarrify, I wasn't laughing about the bleeding but about the tissue comment!
Lisa, I hope you start healing up soon.
We are traveling only about 5 hours tomorrow. We are planning on stoping often because my lower back gets fatigued. My mom had a great idea to stop at grocery stores and get frozen peas for my back! What a great idea. We will come back Monday afternoon. We are so excited to get away.
I will see Doctor today and let you all know how that is going.

Back from doctor

Well, he said it's healing well, even though it opened up. He threw out the old packing, irrigated it, and repacked it. He gave me more stuff for packing on Monday and Thursday, and I see him again on Friday. He thinks I won't need to be packed after then (crossing fingers!)

And he said I can drive! He just told me to be extra careful and if I experience any shooting pain, to come home. I'm so tired from my appointment and then a short trip to Walmart with my sister, I'm going to nap. He wants me to keep the gauze OFF the incision to let air get at it so it will heal faster, although I won't do that when I'm sleeping. Too afraid of hitting it.

I'll keep you posted! I hope everyone is having a great Friday and has a wonderful weekend!

Lisa

Good to go!

2 wks. from TAH with FTT today. Off Percocet since past Mon. and using Ibu. Walking some at mall and neighborhood but winded. Just started to list items on ebay again yesterday. Reading, small amt. cooking, still sleeping sporadically. some pain when I sleep on side-wakes me up. FTT is healing well but that takes a few months to heal. I have a new belly button PS created-interesting. Can't complain. God has healed the constant sciatic pain I had for 4 yrs. thru this op. thanks, God.

hi sisters!
I had TVH 7/31/07 and just wondering if you ever get some discomfort still and a little more discharge? going through a little bit of an emotional time with some personal stuff, not sleeping or eating much..just wondering if the stress is to much for healing...

My first post op appointment went well today. The pathology report was good. The did find adenomysis in the uterine wall and he said the only way to get rid of that was to remove the uterus. I am actually glad about that becuase I am hoping insurance will pay a lot since there was a real reason to have the procedure done. We didn't try any other methods first so I was worried about that.

Doctor explained to me that if you bear down and your insides move then you are at risk of the incisions scarring the wrong way. So I can lift what ever I want as long as I am not bearing down in the process.

TMI: I think I need to still be taking stool softener because of that!
Also, he said the bladder is the weakest muscle. He said it really is pathetic. I was wearing a thin tank top with a cardigan over the top and he said the walls are thinner than the tank top I was wearing.
So that was the other thing with that is that it is difficult to tack it up because it is so thin. He said it can fall back down. Crazy little thing.

I go back Sept. 7th. He said he does not want me to work until my 6 weeks are done. So I will go back to work on Sept. 10th.

Have a good weekend ladies! We are going to be traveling so I am not sure I will be back in here or not. Take care ladies!

Hi everyone! I did go to my family reunion. The car ride was unpleasant on the way there....darn road resurfacing with gravel made it vibrate more for awhile. Luckily I brought a lightweight air mattress to sit on to cushion the ride. Also, I did buy the swelly belly band and used it on the trip, and it worked great. It was very nice under a seatbelt!

Today I am taking it easy and lounging around. The incision is healing well, I am taking ibuprofen but not the Percocet anymore. I have had a tiny bit of the brownish discharge folks have mentioned, some days but not others. I have not seen anything bright red, so I think it is normal. I just wear light pads to monitor it.

I'm thinking of going back to work half time after 4 weeks, but we'll see. I have to call my doctor about that, since my scheduled post-op visit is not until September 24...that is 7 weeks post op. I guess my doc is on vacation the previous week so it is a week later than usual. But I am sure she would have to clear me to go back to work earlier. How does FMLA leave work I wonder? My original doctor note says I can return after September 14.

Had my 2 wk post op visit today. Pathology came back benign on everything. Found out my uterus weighed twice what a normal one would (however much that is), I had an adenomyoma and 2 lg fibroids with multiple smaller ones. All this is news to me! Also found out that he could not remove my left fallopian tube due to scar tissue, but he did manage to get the ovary. I've been cleared for all activity unless it uses my abdominal muscles. I've been having some pulling/twinges on the right side just under the belly button and just above the pubic bone. He said he did not know what that was but to call him if it got worse before my next appt in 4 wks when he will do the internal exam. Spotting has turned red again the last few days...it's been brownish for most of the last 2 weeks. He said that it's probably my A & P repairs rubbing against each other but as long as I'm not saturating a pad, not to worry about it. I'm relieved! Hope you all have a great weekend! Get lots of rest!! Heidi...I'm envious that you're going to a Mariners game! It's supposed to sprinkle/rain this weekend so I hope they close the dome!
