Hello:

Today is my 5 weeks post-opn. I was admitted to the hospital last night and discharged this afternoon- due to blood clots in my leg. The doctors are thinking it is from the hormone patch I was given. Now I have to take a blood thinner and give myself a shot twice a day for 14 days. I feel like I was doing so well and now this happens. So the entire time I was in the ER yetersday all I did was cry. My stomach is sore from the dshot I have been receiving. Th doctor informed me the only pain meds I can take now is tynenol - that is not helping much. So I am feeling a little down. The nurse from GYN says they don't know what kinda of hormonal medicine I can take.

I'm still having good days and bad days. Now I'm starting to get really worried about going back to work on the 17th. It's rare that I'm having to take anything for pain; however, I'm still having some aches in my incision areas. It did not help today that while getting dressed I hit one of my stitches that is sticking out of one of the incisions with my finger nail and it has been sore all day.

I've been very tired the last two days and basically have not done much of anything. I'm hoping my energy level starts to go up. This also haven't helped my 'blah' feelings that I'm having. I did speak with my nurse yesterday and she feels that if I'm still having the 'blahs' 8 weeks post-op, I need to have my hormone levels checked. (I did keep my ovaries, so they may need to get a jump-start.)

Did anyone watch Oprah today? Although it was basically targeted at women 40 and over (which I am), the message still applied to ALL women. We need to put ourselves first. So remember pamper the princess!!!

After my blah Sunday, I am feeling much, much better. I think my pains and weird sensation around my incision were from riding in the car too long. I rested a lot yesterday.

Today was busy though. I got the paper work filed to end my leave on and go back on to work on Monday. I will be teaching kindergarten. Last spring I had arranged to share a job with a teammate (before I even knew I was having surgery this summer) so I will be working parttime-YEAH! I think that will be helpful in my ongoing recovery. I went up to my school today to plan with my team. I saw my kids from last year. They were so happy to see me. I guess I hadn't anticipated how scared they were for me and how how relieved they would be to see me looking the same as they remembered! I was pretty worried about going back to work, but today helped me feel ready and even excited.

Who recommended the Assets panties at Target? They are great! They give support without feeling like like a girdle. I feel like my belly is more protected with them than regular granny panties.

Molly, how are you doing? Let us hear from you!

Gardener, Your better days are around the corner! With two steps forward, one step back, we will eventually get there!

Bbayou, sorry about your blood clot and er trip. That must have been so scary!

I had a great day, and I hope everyone has a better tomorrow!

Good Morning:

I am still having the blah feeling.

litshade - How I noticed the blood clot was my leg start getting red and sore. I couldn't put any weight on the leg - then a knot formed in the leg. The doctors and nurses say this usually happens in the calf of the leg, but mine was in my inner thigh.

I go to the vascular doctor today - due to the medication i needs has to have prior authorization from my insurance company before the pharmacy will fill my prescription - so i missed a dose of medication last night.

I'm so happy you had a good day.

Aren't the Assets Panties great. I know I'm not the only Sister who has posted about them so I can' take credit but I think they should be on the recommended MUST HAVE list.

Hi Ladies!!!!
I can't believe I haven't checked in here for so long. Ugh. How are you all doing? I guess I should sit and read to catch up on everyone.

I am feeling great. I have my 6 week post op tomorrow. He wanted it next week but I really need to get back to work Monday so I scheduled it for tomorrow. DH really cannot wait for doctor check up so he can do his manly thing - ugh! I may want to wait a few more days though but will ask the Dr.

My sleeping did get back on track so I was very thankful about that. Vacation was good for me cuz I got so tired. Now DS is back and school and is in drivers ed so I am stressing out about all those things. I really need to get back to taking my vitamins! And drinking water.

I have gained so much weight. Not sure what to do about that - well other than eat less and start walking longer.

I am scared to go back to work cuz it is hard work. My mom is my sub right now in the kitchen and she is exhausted! She called one day after work and said "even my toes hurt". I am dreading it but it has to be done. I am a new hire so my sick days are gone now.

Those of you having trouble, I hope you start feeling better and I hope the doctors figure out the best way to treat you. Hugs to you all!

I can't believe that I am now 5 weeks and 1 day post-op and I go back to work in one week. Today I feel great. No aches, no pains, no exhaustion!!! I still realize that I have to take it slowly and still have some restrictions on me until December; however, I feel that I can see that light at the end of the tunnel.

Ladies, please remember to take it easy and pamper yourself. Healing does not come over night and can take up to a year. A word of caution - my mother saw my surgeon yesterday for a pain that she has been having in her right side. The pain is being caused by an adhesion - scar tissue attached to her intestines. Her TAH was over 30 years ago. So just because you feel great now and think you can go on with your life as before, please think about the long term effects.

Hope everyone is doing fine and healing! Moss, Molly, Jennine - how are y'all doing? Heidi, Angela, Soonershep - I'm glad that y'all are doing great. Bbayou, hopefully you will be doing better soon. I'll be thinking of you.

Hi Girls!
I had a really bad day yesterday! I went in for my 6 week post-op- actually 5 weeks and 2 days- yesterday. They said my internal stitches were still there and it is still bleeding and healing- they put me back on restrictions for 6 MORE WEEKS! I was in shock! I really thought they were going to give me the green light because I feel great.

They said it could be because of everything I went through this past year- my body is just healing VERY slowly (Breast Cancer- surgeries-chemo-radiation). She also said it could be because my body doesn't have any estrogen- I had my ovaries out and I'm on Aromedex to get rid of any hormones that are left (because of Breast Cancer). But I don't know what hormones have to do with the healing.

I printed out the list of dos and don'ts from this site- I am going to do better, but how far back do you think I need to go? It says not to bend over for the oven (etc.), push shopping cart, sit for prolonged periods (how long is prolonged??), reaching, etc.. But you are supposed to gradually do more- I know you're not supposed to pick up more than 5 pounds the whole time- but what about the rest of it?? I feel fine, but I want to do it right- but I need to know what right is!

Sorry for all the complaining! Any help will be much appreciated!

It's great to read all the stories about those of you who are getting better- for those of you who are having set backs- I am praying for you!

Take Care!
Jennine

Jennine, is your bladder cooperating? I can't believe you have another 6 weeks to go! WTH? I guess you should get yourself some magazines and start reading. You can move from one chair/couch to another every 10 minutes or so. lol I am soooo sorry about that.

I went to my check up today, 5 weeks 3 days. I am still healing as well but he okay'd me to go back to work. I just have to be careful. I asked about S E X first thing since DH is ready to croak and he said we can fool around but no intercourse yet, I am still not healed enough as far as the bladder is concerned. 2 more weeks.................

Sex lesson for those interested: I am really getting to love my doctor and now I don't see him for another year. Dang. He explains things so well.
1) lubrication! On woman, on man, everywhere!
2) foreplay. The vagina gets longer with foreplay (just as the penis does) so the more foreplay~the longer the vagina~the farther away the stitches are from the one eyed snake. This is much safer.
3) woman on top. That way we can control how far OES (one eyed snake) goes in. Don't force it. If you think it is going to hurt then stop there.
That was what I learned today.
