Went for my check up today...

So, I went for a check up today since getting my depo provera shot 3 weeks ago. I have still been in a lot of pain the last three weeks. The doctor thought there hadn't been enough time for it to really take effect. However, she did decide to put me on Effexor an anti-depressant. She thinks I'm suffering from depression because of the chronic pain and the side effect of the depo. Well, I no longer have mood swings....I just don't get very happy anymore and it's hard to get out of bed some days. Hopefully, this will help. She said it could take 4 weeks or so for the Effexor to take effect. Lovely!

Is anyone else taking anti-depressants to help with the side effects of their hormones or the chronic pain of the endo?

I'm feeling like a pill-popping crazy endo sufferer right now I'm not loosing my mind....am I? Maybe i need to go and meditate again.

No you are not going crazy..... I know you feel that way, because I do too some times - well ok a lot. I have been on Welburton (might be spelled wrong - not a good speller )
Right now I am on Serafem for what the doc said was PMDD.

You have to keep in mind that being in pain all day every day, can take its toll on us. We can only take it for so long....

Here are a lot of s

Just hang in there and see how that works, and if it doesn't try something else until you find what works for you....

Good luck

Thank you DiDi220. You are so right about this constant pain...it does take it's toll on us and sometimes we need more help. In addition to the Effexor, I'm going to see a counselor too that specializes in gyno issues like pain management and chronic conditions like endo. So, hopefully that will help take the pressure off of my dh who has been extremely patient and understanding with all of this. And it might give me more ways to handle all of this too.

I definitely think that I made the right choice with finding this new doctor and clinic that seem to have alot of different resources for handling this issue.

One day at a time is all we can ask for....
